POSHPACKER | Chengdu Flipflop Hostel

This hostel turned out to be a big disappointment. I left after one night. The rooms do not look like the pictures. I had a 4 person room and it was really small. Moreover, the bed is like sleeping on a wooden plank. Furthermore, the bathroom was disgusting, just like the room itself was. Unfortunately, upon that, there was a really filthy roommate that caused the whole room to stink. However, the hostel staff was really accommodating and refunded my money for the 2 nights I left early.

Bedbugs, I still have bites everywhere. As soon as I told them they emptied the room so they probably didn't know and took it seriously. However I asked for a refund, we exchanged through wechat but it's been ten day and I didn't get any money back. It's a traveler's nightmare. It's too bad because the staff is very kind and speaks English, location is nice. Quiet hostel, good facilities. But BIG bedbugs they must have been there for a while so getting rid of them wasn't easy.

The private ensuite room I had was appalling. A mattress on the floor as a bed; two chairs with no legs on the floor next to a useless table. The room was appalling and as a result of continuous stooping and a bad bed I had serious back ache. I would never stay here as although the common areas and staff are ok, my room was dreadful

Quite dirty bathroom smelled very moldy. Bed was hard as a rock. They made me change rooms halfway through my stay because they booked out the entire room I was in despite my booking it months before. Overall not very helpful or accessible staff. Wouldn’t stay here again

I'm contradicted! The place is excellent, the staff is incredible, and the location is good. That said, the problem is that I had to upgrade to a single room, because a local literally "lived" in the shared room. That means it felt like the room belonged to him. I can understand that it's a business, but not at the expense of real backpackers! Is it so difficult to put long-stay guests in the same rooms and travelers in different ones? That would improve the experience. Think about it please!

Well located, ok price, cool rooftop bar but a quiet atmosphere during the stay. Major issue is this is advertised as a non-smoking hostel, however this is often ignored (happened to me and two girls in the dorm next door) and there is no prevention/remedial action provided by the hostel. Someone smokes in your dorm? Tough - pay extra to get a private room or endure it for your stay. The hostel needs to enforce this rule by fining/eviction. Would've booked somewhere else if I knew this before.

Strictly on the low end. Helpful staff and good location, but a general lack of quality. In my private room the mattress was on the floor. A chair would've been nice.

Funtastic spot! Great staff. Centrally located. Seems to attract excellent travellers 😁i stayed for a month, split into two times, and enjoyed everyday 🎉

Auberge très sympa et très bien placée et pas très chère. J'ai pris une chambre et j'étais super bien installée. Ils proposent aussi plein d'activités à l'accueil c'est plutôt cool

Pros: friendly staff, events if there are enough people, homey feel, great location. Cons: my bathroom wasn’t well cleaned, they have signs that say you can’t lay down on the couches.

Really nice hostel. Super social and the staff is amazing would defenetly stay there again. Beds are comfy if you like harder beds.

One of the better hostels in China for Westerners. Met a good group and all went out together. Would stay again if in Chengdu.

Great location close to the metro and it's very easy to get around. The hostel also offers a lot of nice tours and has a social atmosphere

It is one of the best hostels I've ever stayed. The staff is really really friendly and accommodating. They host events like hotpot or dumpling party which is nice to meet people and the overall armosphere is really cozy and homely. I would always go back there.

nice, cute and sociale hotel, easy to socialise, host a lot of activities and tours you can participate in which makes if easy to meet other travelers. People at the reception are very kind and helpful.

Matrass was basicly just for show. It was half an inch thick, so basicly I was just sleeping on a plank. Location was peak and the staff was amazing, especially Ella

As far as hostels standards go in the world it’s pretty basic, but probably one of the better ones in China. The hotpot party was the highlight as it gave a chance socialise, location is very good and walking distance to a lot of spots, dorm rooms are a little small but had an overall positive experience here

Fantastic place to stay on a budget and to meet other travelers. Located in the heart of Chengdu close to all the attractions. The staff was super friendly and spoke good English to help. I highly recommend this place 👍
