There are BEDBUGS here. Stay away. Any savings from staying at this hostel were not worth the problems that followed. After my stay, I ended up spending money on pest control, throwing away my belongings and I am still dealing with the bedbugs I brought home. The hostel promotes itself as one of the top hostels in Canada but that reputation seems to be based on past glory rather than current state. My experience was extremely disappointing and ended up costing me far more than I saved on accommodation. At the end of the day, the amount I paid could have gotten me an Airbnb without the stress, expense, and inconvenience that came with this stay.

I booked a stay here for a week . My experience was horrible. My bad experience started when I was outside the locked entrance when a new guest arrived and was trying to get in . I told this new guest that there is a door bell . The manager came out and decided to harshly give me a hard time telling me how pulling on the door when it is locked will brake it . He then told me I would be kicked out of staying there if I do it again .The new guest spoke up and said it was not me pulling in the door and that it was him . The manager didn’t even apologize to me for freaking out at me . The next problem I had was with that same manager at 11:00 in the morning when he came to my dorm and told me I was kicked out or can upgrade my room to a private room because someone in the same dorm complained about me giving them a hard time for making noise at 10:00 am . I asked this person to have some common curtsy for someone that worked all night and was still sleeping . This guest told me it’s 10:00am and it’s not my problem if he is making noice because people should be awake at that time . The manager did not even ask me what was going on and just rudely informed me that I was kicked out or needed to upgrade my room. The way I was getting treaded I decided to ask f I could speak to the owner of the hostel . I was speaking with the owner the evening before during the pasta event and he seemed like a very nice guy . I am also in the rental business and we talked a lot about that . The manager did not give me the managers contact information and when I told the manager that I am not willing to up grade my room to private he told me he is calling the police . I really could not understand why he needed to call police as I told him I will be leaving . He also told me that I would not be allowed to book in the future and told him I don’t plan on it . Also when I was packing my things up the manager and another worker standing there treating me like a criminal as if they were bouncers kicking me out of a bar or something . Some of the staff are great but the manager defiantly should be fired . I only stayed 3 nights but they did not return money that I paid for the week stay . After checking under the mattress while making sure I was not leaving anything I noticed a lot of small insects bed bugs I would say . The manager told me that I need to take the bedding down to the from desk before I leave and told me they will be dealing with the bugs later . I am writing this review the next day and am covered in red marks all over my body . I will be writing a review about the manager at planet traveler on every platform I can find about how people will get treated by him if they stay there . I am hopping the owner will contact me to give me a full refund soon . My problems at planet traveler were silly with the male manager and of course the bed bugs . If you loose your key card you will not be able to get back in til morning . Homeless living right outside the door . I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. The manager is extremely hostel and needs to be fired . The owner needs to know how bad his manager is .

Great location, vibe and people. There's even a cute dog on site! However, I was quite disappointed to have gotten bed bug bites while staying there. Both days I woke up in my private room with bites on my body. When I checked out a day early, politely informing the staff of why, they refused a refund unless they were able to find bed bugs in the room. Naturally, they couldn't find them. Despite having photographic evidence of the bites I was denied a refund which is unfortunate when traveling as I had to pay out of pocket for another place of accommodation (they did offer me another room, but I didn't want to take the risk). For someone who has dealt with bedbugs in the past, just because you don't see them and others haven't had an issue, doesn't mean they aren't there. Really disappointed that they weren't willing to rectify the issue and because of that, I wouldn't recommend.

Vibe-Analyse
