The check-in was fine, but the place is rudimentary and looks better in photos than in reality. Upon entering, we smelled gas. We notified the staff, and they disconnected the bottle at our request. That evening, we asked to fix it properly so we could cook. Shockingly, they reconnected the bottle without checking for the leak, allowing gas to escape directly into the room. This level of negligence is beyond understanding and extremely dangerous. I'm truly baffled by their lack of care.
Seeehr schmutziges Zimmer, sehr laute, defekte Klimaanlage.
Seeehr schmutziges Zimmer, very loud, defective air conditioning. everything very old and in the Jahre gekommen.
Overall I really loved how nice the staff were. However i really didn’t like the location of where it was in the town. It was a bit secluded from the other stuff. Thought it would be more central. Also while I was sleeping I kept getting bit by little bugs it was the worst sleep of my life! The rooms are super small too. Would def recommend to stay at other hostels or a bnb instead of this one to be honest. The price would be basically the same if not less for a better experience overall 1.5/5
The volunteers here were unfriendly and could not even fathom a smile nor had interesting in welcoming guests. Due to this, the atmosphere wasn’t very sociable. Also a noise issue with the dorms which are located beside the kitchen - we heard the staff and children speaking loudly from 8am. Wouldn’t recommend a stay here.
Bed bugs!! In female room, covered in bites all over face and body.
Not sure why there is positive reviews for this place. The staff are so rude! Why work in customer services if you can even say “hi” or smile. Not helpful at all. The rooms are tiny!!! Right next to the kitchen also so very noisy. They have music playing constantly so know where to “chill”. The female toilet was so dirty and the bin over flowing and no soap. No security on property plus random come to the hostel in evening for the event they host, can’t lock bedroom door!
avoid unless you want to get BED BUGS. Found a bedbug on my sheet and ended up carrying these with me after leaving. Some staff are unfriendly and seem uninterested in the guests. Atmosphere was not great.
This place lists in details they don't, then when you arrive they (written no where) charge 13% !!!!! fee for credit cards. Insane, ownership team tricks and pushed policies so they can launder money and avoid taxes. I asked for invoice three times, twice denied, once told they could handwrite one later then later said they couldn't. This kind of business should not be tolerated or supported !!!!
Worst hostel I’ve stayed at in Costa Rica. No atmosphere.. they aren’t organizing any social events, the dorm is super small. And overall the hostel wasn’t clean, dirt and leftovers everywhere. Also the rooms are always open and so is the gate, this means that random people can go into your room which didn’t give me a nice feeling.. even though there are lockers in the room but a backpack wouldn’t fit in there. I would not recommend staying here..

Great place to spend a couple days in PV. The staff were awesome and we went out with them to the main party in town. Fairly social place to hang out with activities every night.
Good very social place to meet people from all over if you are traveling solo
Amazing hostel, social, staff really friendly, they have activities every night (karaoke, Latin dance…), good common spaces, bike rent, hot water in the showers. The only bad thing is that I didn’t have wi-if in the girls dorm.
Really nice dorms with ac. Pretty small lockers tho. Showers were nice. Kitchen was nice! Nice common area and they have activitys every dag.
Sweet hostel, nice people and nice evening activities and atmosphere. unfortunately the furnishings and the closet to the room were very old and the Tür zum Zimmer was always open.
really good, nice hostel activities and well located
Great and nicely located. However it is not well suited for social interactions and the night activities starting at 8pm are more repellent than anything else.
We stayed in the private room in the Casa Mango and it was perfect. It was calm and beautiful. The common kitchen is very equipped. The social experience is fine. We were two so it was easy to find solo travelers that wanted to hang out, but everybody was ganged up when we arrive. The location is perfect.
This is one of the best hostels, especially when it comes to atmosphere and the friendliness of staff and volunteers. It's convenient that El Clan hostel is right accross the street and you can use the pool, and also as a woman, you can use any facilities from Tribu Hostel (hairdryer, hair iron, clothes iron, etc). The rooms are quite basic, not very spacious, but there is space for the luggage, the bed are like pods, they have curtains, therefore it's enough privacy. It's very cool that the ...
He is delighted with everything. excellent service, good atmosphere and the staff are some excellent people
Nice vibe. Not much more.

Lovely location, helpful staff!
Perfect. No complaints 😊
Echt top, goede kamers, badkamers en keuken en erg sociaal
Really top, good rooms, bathkamers and kitchen and erg social
Good hostel overall, very nice hangout area, really good kitchen, even a tv. No activities really run even tho were advertised on the black board, or at least we weren’t aware of them 🤷♀️ Short walk away from centre, you can rent bikes from there, even tho they’re more expensive than anywhere else but that’s to be expected. Would stay again.
Really enjoyable stay, would recommend
My private room was very big but also very loud. The woman who checked me in didn't explain anything. If you are interested in social events I can't recommend going to Puerto Viejo. The hostel is ok, they had a few events but you also get the occasional everyone on the phone vibes.
Overall very good. Friendly staff, well-equipped kitchen, showers okay. The dorms were really very cramped, though.
Nice hostel, close to the beach and busy area in Puerto Viejo. Staff is friendly, but not very interactive with guests. Rooms a bit small, but beds are nice and the AC is a real bonus. Kitchen one of the best in my entire travels. Very well equipped and a lot of space!
