I had high expectations because of all the good reviews. But it's not as nice as described: If you get hot water in the shower depends a lot on the room you get. There is no proper mosquito protection as the windows of the rooms have a mesh that is broken. One time we even had a cockroach walking on top of our bed. The breakfast is fine. The rest of the food is not tasty and you cannot choose what you eat. They don't have a menu table of the day that you can see what you get. Even when you ask.

Beautiful location- the truck / jeep drive is an experience in its-self from Lanquin A 45 minute walk to Semuc Champey and you can water tube back to the hostel - this was so fun and would highly reccomend Unable to try yoga as only morning classes- would be great if there were evening classes Beautiful common area, however minimal atmosphere and mixing. Prachtige plek midden in de natuur. Gezellige sfeer, de bar ging wel al om 21;00 dicht (+ lichten uit).

Die Lage der Unterkunft ist wunderschön, man kann in einer Stunde nach Semuc laufen. Das Personal war super nett. Einmal am Tag war Yoga, was wirklich sehr gut war. Das Essen war okay, jedoch etwas teuer für das, was es gab. Das Family Dinner hat für eine sehr schöne Atmosphäre gesorgt. Die Toilettenspülungen funktionieren schlecht und die sanitären Anlagen könnten häufiger geputzt werden. Insgesamt könnte an manchen Stellen renoviert werden, was am extremen Klima liegen könnte.

Beautiful place in the jungle, perfect to slow down. The staff was super nice and they organized a Semuc tour for me. Overall the food and drinks were ok. What I was not aware of is that there are moalstly couples and groups, which made me first feel a bit lonely.

The hostel sits in the jungle. The remote location forces you to relax, it also has some downsides though. There was one dinner for 75Q or half a plate for a bit less, all the food is vegetarian, which I liked, but at least for dinner you have no alternatives (and no grocery stores or kitchen). When I was there neither the yoga class nor the cacao tour where happening. Almost all the guests were couples. As a solo traveler I would try a different hostel next time. Staff was very friendly though!

The hostel is in a beautiful location, they will help you book any tours or transport you need. Love that they are vegetarian. The room has a blanket and not just a sheet which helps me sleep better personally. Dinner always includes a desert too :)

nice place remote location, food was tasty and they were always good with changing my food to vegan which is always appreciated. power was out for a bit but didn’t really bother us, showers were quite weak and cold but you are in the middle of nowhere so it can be expected. the staff were so nice and helpful. only massive downside was the bed was so uncomfortable mattress very springy and under a sloped ceiling so you couldn’t sit up.

Beautiful place in the jungle, right by the river and within walking distance of Semuc Champey. The tour was a ton of fun and very well organised. Love the family style veggie dinners. Only challenge was the showers - very unpredictable whether you’d get any hot water!

The location of the Inn is nice, in the middle of nowhere, above the river. As written in the description we can't cook and the nearest store is 11km away in Lanquín. Every meal is vegetarian and so good ! But yes, we have to buy everything since cooking isn't possible. The rooms is a little strait

Ein sehr schönes Fleckchen inmitten herrlicher Natur. Nette, emphatische Menschen, sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich, wir würden jederzeit wieder kommen.

Das Personal ist super nett und das Hostel ist sehr schön. Das Essen ist super lecker (aber etwas teuer).

Our stay at Utopia hostel was so magical! The staff were so kind and friendly, the food was great all the tours were really great. The location in the middle of the rainforest was extra special being able to look out over the view and fall asleep to the sounds of the rainforest at night. It was a very relaxing atmosphere and everyone was winding down at 8pm ish as it’s so relaxing and comforting looking out over the rainforest by candlelight so don’t expect a party hostel!

This place is pretty nice. They do a great job organizing stuff for you because there isn’t too much to do besides semuc champey. They are great about helping you get rides. It is a little expensive to get food and such. The breakfast is not free, so make sure you check before you order because they use a tab system, so you will pay for everything at the end.

Spent three nights at Utopia. Amazing atmosphere. We loved the morning yoga, the food was fantastic and the staff very friendly. Would definitely stay here again!

Our stay at Utopia made the long (and short) visit to Semuc Champey 100% worth it. The people were so friendly, it was clean and the food was really good. You pay between 30-45 for breakfast and lunch, 75 for a full dinner and 45 for a half dinner. There was no kitchen to cook, but you can ask for plates and cutlery if you have something yourself that doesn’t need a kitchen. The morning yoga was amazing! They also offer tours (185 full), explain everything really well and make you feel at home...

Wir haben uns von Sekunde eins super wohlgefühlt, die ganze Atmosphäre im Hotel ist wirklich wunderschön, die Mitarbeiter extrem zuvorkommend und das Essen so lecker!

We absolutely loved staying here as a family. It is in such a beautiful location looking out over the forest and close to the river. It has such a chilled out vibe and the staff are all lovely and helpful. The food was all vegetarian and amazing! Due to budget we chose a small twin room which was very warm at night but there are other options such as the river lodges. I loved the fact that you can do morning yoga. The trips were all brilliant and good value for money. Beautiful place!

It was a great stay. The staff is awesome and they make you feel as a real guest. Food concept is great.

Had a really nice stay! The volunteers are all genuinely lovely. Loved the morning yoga. Hostel was well located to the river and semuc. Family dinners and lunches made for a nice social atmosphere. While I was there, the road was being worked out so there was a 10-15 min walk on dirt path with baggage to the hotel (which was super hot but not unreasonable). They keep chocobananos in the freezer for purchase :)))

Great location in the jungle. I liked the style of the buildings. Staff were really nice and helpful. There is a gym with al the equipment you need. Also a good place to do Yoga including mats. That was a good surprise. I liked the food, only things that I dislike was the fact that our private room was above the kitchen. As they offer a nice breakfast for when you have to leave early this also meant that the noise started quite early. Besides that the shower had problems with warm water.!

Very basic rooms but the rest was amazing. Food was great. Staff very accommodating. Very secluded and peaceful in the mountains and by the river. Able to tube back to the hostel from semuc which was unique!
