   This was the most unsafe hostel I have ever stayed in! Over four nights, police were called twice: once for a fight in the common area, and once after locals sprayed fire extinguishers through the windows, causing burning eyes and noses throughout the hostel. A fellow guest also had her phone stolen. The hostel’s location is a concern, being situated by projects where I witnessed children carrying rifles. The lack of any departure ticket requirement at check-in means the hostel attracts individuals who are not travellers but are instead using it as shelter, which contributed to the unsafe atmosphere. One of these settlers was apparently on psychedelic drugs and was banging on people’s doors at 4am, and proceeded to send life threatening messages to the man who confronted him for his behaviour. On nights with unlimited free alcohol, staff then turned aggressive toward guests making noise after 10pm — an entirely predictable outcome. More troubling was that the confrontations appeared directed almost exclusively at Spanish-speaking guests, despite English-speaking guests making equal amounts of noise. The conditions were deeply unsanitary: blood-stained mattresses, no windows in my room, and a persistent smell of sweat and marijuana. The young staff appeared to be working without pay and sleeping on mattresses on the floor — conditions that raised serious ethical concerns.

   I booked this place because I was looking for something affordable in Maui, and luckily it popped up on sale. Arrival was fine, but the check-in was a bit messy. The entry code they gave me didn’t work, and the key for my late check-in wasn’t where it was supposed to be. I had to ask people through the fence, and thankfully another guest helped because she knew someone who worked there. The front desk bell didn’t wake anyone after four tries. The room itself was okay for a hostel. Nothing fancy. The sheets were decent, the fan and AC were lifesavers because it gets hot. Never got a towel, but I had my own so no big deal. It was a 4-bed room with 4 lockers. Bunk beds were old (including the sheets), but they did the job. If you want something upscale, this is not it. Bathrooms were shared with several options, both individual and common. Common areas were cool and had potential, but honestly pretty dirty and extremely disorganized. It’s a shame because the space could be amazing with some proper cleaning and structure. The kitchen was fine. A few fridges and stovetops. They offer free pancakes and brewed coffee every morning, which is awesome. Just know you make your own pancakes, it’s not a served breakfast. The kitchen was also messy and felt dirty, but again, a solid cleanup and some rules would improve it a lot. The staff I talked to was nice, but I honestly couldn’t tell who actually worked there. Same people around every day doing different things, and at one point someone even asked me if I worked there. A simple staff shirt would solve this and help guests know who to go to. Entrance is on the side of the building, which feels odd and makes finding the front desk confusing. Quiet hours are 10PM-8AM and they really do enforce it. One night there was a big party, but everything shut down right at the set time. They have a laundry room, board games, some workout gear, and even an ice machine, which is great. They run tours every day of the week. I didn’t join any, but other guests said they were good, which is a big plus for solo travelers or anyone on a tight budget. I had a rental car, but the location seemed fine overall. Just keep in mind you’ll need transportation. Some locals told me not to walk around at night because of the amount of sketchy homeless activity in the area. Something to keep in mind. In general, it was a good stay for the price I paid. I wouldn’t pay more than about $80 a night for this place, especially knowing I’ve stayed in better hostels around the world for $30-40. But it’s still a workable option for Maui. Street parking was easy, which was great. This building has a ton of potential, but it really feels like the owners or managers aren’t putting in the care it deserves.

   The hostel looked like the photos, with a good vibe and friendly people. They had daily activities, but we didn’t join since we already had plans. We accidentally booked for one person due to a platform error, thinking the price was for two. The price felt high considering the rooms were noisy and hot. Later, we found the same apartment for half the price elsewhere. The worst part was walking into our room and finding someone having sex with a guest.

   Do Not Stay Here! I have always had a wonderful experience in hostels. Even in Maui. I thought I was booking the same experience as last time and didn't realize it was a different hostel and a completely different experience. The staff is very clicky. They are very rude, especially the long haired guy who claims to run the show as the manager. And his side kick that live in the managers house. They party loud as they want and then wanna tell you your loud if your on the phone and question whether or not you are staying there. When you ask questions on how to do something or where you can find something they treat and talk to you like your dumb or stupid. Then go flop down with head phones and smoke their vapes. Very disappointed. They also don't keep track of who is on what bunk, therefore they over book rooms and wonder why people are confused stealing each other's beds every night. Waste of time effort and money. I realized the last place I stayed is now called Howzit Hostel. Was a very good and joyful experience last time. Try there instead

   Horrible experience! The manager Gabby is VERY RUDE and unhelpful. They take a very large deposit from you and if you are not ready to book a flight off island upon check in will steal the money and won’t let you check in. This “policy” is not made clear and exists no where else on island and I stayed all over in many locations. The hostel is dirty and the location isn’t great. Do not go!

   THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN ASAP Many people have had their belongings stolen, even from private rooms, and it’s often done by workers and volunteers. There is no security, broken windows, and anyone can easily jump into your room! Most of the victims are international travelers on short vacations in the U.S., making it difficult for them to take legal action, and the staff takes advantage of this. The owner and manager are horrible people who don’t care about the guests or anyone else. The police frequently visit due to numerous theft incidents, so I don’t understand how this place hasn’t been shut down yet. This place needs to be shut down soon!

   Extremely dirty bathroom,everywhere so sticky here,weird people hanging out. One girl brought the guy and had s** in my room, while i sat at the reception place to wait for them and when i stood up, my skirt sticked with the chewing gum of someone,when i changed to another room, a guy brought his girl to sleep together in a super tiny bed dorm.I checked out early morning without taking back 10$ deposit, i asked them to give 10$ to my friend who still stay there,they declined and kept my money!

    I was charged for an extra night that I didn’t stay there. Called the staff who put me on hold for 15 mins, then my phone went to voicemail every time I called. Waiting to on credit card company for fraudulent charge. Otherwise a great hostel, good location, appreciated having individual bathrooms.

    STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! We got our phones and our documents stolen from a private room! Yes, it's a private room, not a shared room, and it was locked by key, and someone just came from the closed window while we were outside! And imagine that it was around 4:30 p.m., so everyone was there and around! Can you imagine? And guess what? Anyone can take off the window and just enter! And they know that very well, and the police told us it happened the same way many times before, and they all know the person, but they didn't fix the problem or put a more secure window!!! And the next day, the workers entered our room by key while we were out, and since it's a private room, they shouldn't enter without permission at all! Which made me think they have a hand in this because how can the person know each time we go out!? This place told us they have a high crime rate, and they know very well the people who do this! The room is terrible! We paid near $200 per night for a private room that was really bad, old, and so small that it didn't have anything. There is no AC, the room is so hot, there is no private restroom, and there is not even a mini refrigerator. And if people talk outside, you can feel that they are with you inside the room, and the location is bad and far from everything. They also get people to volunteer to work for free and just give them a terrible bed in a terrible room, and that's it without any money for them like slaves. The owner is young, and she doesn't know how to run a business. She just cares about making so much money without spending any money to improve this terrible place. She didn't care at all about what happened, as it's normal for them and it happened many times before, and she even came after to apologize, check on us, or offer anything, even if it's simple! This place is horrible! If I had the authority, I would shut down this place immediately for lack of security. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

    Dirty place, got food stolen several times, sketchy neighborhood. Tourist staying there are nice but staff is noisy, partying every night with loud music and not cleaning the facilities. Rooms arent cleaned everyday. The only good thing are the free tours and the tour guide.
