The sheets were very dirty, orange, yellow and blood stains on it Room was so hot, the AC was not working and when we told the staff, they didn’t do anything No private bathroom as promised Far location No staff on site for most of the day, no front desk person to ask for new sheets or items when needed So dirty overall, not worth the price
I’m sorry I have to be blunt. In retrospect my private room was too cheap to be nice in a major US city. The location is horrible and sinister. At most times and at night there is no staff presence. I didn’t see any other occupants but I could hear them - all a bit eerie. If you are a solo female traveller don’t even think about it. I’m not even sure I’d allow the property on this site. It feels like a future crime scene. Just avoids
what a terrible hostel. there was signage EVERYWHERE about not letting people in who don't have the code and it's obvious it's because people who have reservations are forced to jump the fence and bang on the door because it wasn't clear how to get the code in certain cases. I showed up during core check in hours and had to call someone because nobody was staffed to let me in, and she sounded pissed that I was calling. TWO people jumped the fence in the like 20 hours I was there
This is the ghost hostel: none at the reception (just 30 minutes during morning but after 8.30am) it's so unsafe. location not good. it's not clean at all. our bedroom was next to the kitchen(always noisy). I needed hairdryer and new towel but nobody was there. locker in the bedroom to tight to the bed. we had an emergency and we called the numbers they left next to the front desk(obviouslybc nobody was there and it was 3pm). Result? The phone at the front desk rang. THIS IS RIDICULOUS
As soon as we arrived we noticed slippers and socks on the floor (no guest owned them), receipts and shopping bags on the floor left there who knows when. The beds were not made, not all the guest as blankets and towels on their bed. No receptions were seen in the two days we were there. It’s far from everything.
After I left, the owner of the hotel charged my credit card an extra $10. I asked for a refund many times, but the hotel owner reluctantly returned it to me. The owner was stealing the guest's money.
I would not recommend this Hostel to anyone. The staff are almost never at the desk which means you are on your own if you have any issues or concerns. The area is not great, there are no self laundry services and the kitchen area is minuscule and not very clean. If you must go to Houston, just stay in a hotel, it is not worth staying here in my opinion. The overall atmosphere was vapid. I have stayed in over 15 hostels in my life, this one was the worst. I must give credit where it is due, the...
Was terrible experience while doing checki in
This hostel was convenient, but very overpriced for the quality offered. In particular, the place looked very dirty: the fridge was dirty, and the sponge seemed like it had been there forever. There was no staff on site, but they were very responsive when called. One positive point is that they provide lockers and also have bikes available for rent ($4/hour).
Umm would never go back. Despite the one reply I would get on email for my access code, there was never any staff at the hostel. Maybe 1 or 2 other travellers. We had a car and glad we did. Would not feel safe walking around the area, you have to walk a while to find any food. One of the other travellers had to let someone in due to no aces Bathrooms were grotty, sticky floors. Wish we had a different experience but I would either choose to not comeback to Houston or find a new place to s

Nice property & staff!

The hostel looks nice and socially, but there is nobody. And the way its setup, looks like its normal for nobody to work there. Nobody to let me in or show me around. From 16:00 untill i left the next morning. I go to a hostel instead of a hotel to have some more interaction with people. So this hostel was a huge disappointment. But it is clean, comfortable beds and sheets and nice towels for use. So if you only look for a place to sleep, its fine.
I saw a few reviews stating there was no staff, so I was a bit worried but I had no issues at all. The hostel states they are staffed until 9pm, so as long as you come or reach out before then, you'll be good to go. The hostel was cool with 2 sitting rooms, and upstairs kitchen and a few common bathrooms. I had no problems with my stay.
WARNING: Don’t be fooled by fake reviews boosting this hostel’s rating! I’m an experienced backpacker and not demanding at all, but this place is unacceptable: • No staff at check-in, I waited 1 hour outside. • No ID or passport check — huge security risk. • Completely empty when I arrived, I even had to let another guest in myself. Only positives: clean and comfortable beds. But nothing around, you need a car.
I had a terrible experience at Wanderstay Houston. Arrived 9:37 pm, locked out due to confusing remote check-in, no staff, calls went to voicemail. Forced to spend $90 at another hotel. Next morning staff arrived late, making me miss a meeting. Later, got large bug bites from the lobby couch. Facilities are poorly maintained: broken sink, no toilet paper, and dirty common areas. Location and décor were fine, but service was inadequate. I love hostels—but this was frustrating. Avoid Wanderstay...
Great experience had a good time
The only thing I liked about this hostel was the large and comfy bed. The staff were friendly and helpful but the problem was they were never there. So this causes security issues because I had to let people into the building at times because no one else was there at the desk. This was in the middle of the day. The kitchen is missing a lot of basic things even for a hostel, no paper towels in bathroom, toilet paper ran out (I checked the labelled drawers) with no staff around to help me.
I really enjoyed my stay. The beds were very well made and clean. Check in was simple and easy and staff onsite were very friendly and helpful. The area was perfectly ok. As a solo woman, I felt safe. Would stay here again
When they say check in is at 3pm they mean they won’t answer the phone or door for you to drop your stuff off before hand. It’s not the most walkable area either so beware. As for the actual place it’s nice and clean. Beds are comfortable. But I didn’t see much social life there and the staff is rather non existent. I only met one and I was irritated that she left me outside in the heat for so long even though I was ringing the door bell and calling the phone number.

I enjoyed my stay here, I have no complaints. Staff was nice and friendly, Hostel was clean and I felt safe!
Traveled with a friend during our Texas road trip. Wanderstay was a great option. Great price. Clean. Safe. That's all you can ask for.
This hostel was quiet, clean, and comfortable. I loved that is was NOT a party hostel. Check in was simple and easy, the room and bed were clen- they gave us towels, rags, blankets, and sheets. The beds were QUEEN sized, which was great! Location was just fine and there were a few places I walked to- Axle Rad, Post Office, and Gas station ( all within a 10 min walk). Very nice stay
Stayed here over the weekend for an event and I enjoyed it. The price was good and the hostel was small and cozy. Not a place to come if you are looking to party. This is a chill, calm, cool, nice vibe hostel. A place to meet friends , hang out, relax, etc. there was a bus stop just a block away and there’s everything you need close in the area.
Traveled for dreamcon and enjoyed my stay. They have very large beds and a guest kitchen which was nice. The hostel was overall very clean. I felt very safe here as a solo traveler. The area of the hostel was just fine. I had no issues. The city is doing construction but that’s not on the hostel . Highly recommended.
very spacious no matter in the room and the lobby
always good stay here, everything is perfect.
