   There is a reason it’s the cheapest place to stay in Glasgow. I don’t really recommend it to solo female travellers… it’s a hostel so you’re gonna get strange people but there were a number of creeps in my room. Luckily, I had Nana, who works at the hostel, staying in my room and she was lovely, helpful and welcoming. There was only 1 working toilet in the whole hostel, and one shower- which was pretty rank. Two power outlets in a room of 14 people- with a fire risk warning. Pretty shabby.

   I’m a frequent backpacker and this was one of the worst hostels I’ve stayed in. We paid for a 14-bed room, but there were 16 people staying in it. Staff gave away one of our occupied beds despite my friend’s belongings still being there. Staff also entered rooms at 1am with flashlights. The hostel was overcrowded, bedding was stained, and the experience felt chaotic and unsafe. Would not stay again.

   Not a great experience here. I checked in Friday night for two nights, and got up the next morning to go or a hike. When I returned I went upstairs to find some of my stuff gone. I went downstairs and asked the bloke who was working at the front desk if he knew what happened to it, he said he’d thrown it into the bin because he thought I’d left. I then noticed my sunglasses were behind the counter, so I’m not sure if he was planning on keeping them. Bathrooms and kitchen were in a terrible state too.

   1. Called 6 times, no answer. 2. No reply to my email. 3. No way of cancelling booking, so I've chosen to freeze my payment card. 4. Asked me to provide my Drivers License number. A malicious actor with access to a U.K. citizen's Driver License Number (DLN) could potentially exploit it for various fraudulent activities, including: 1. Identity Theft & Fraud The DLN is a unique identifier that can be used alongside other personal details (name, date of birth, address) to impersonate the victim. Fraudsters may use it to apply for loans, credit cards, or other financial services in the victim’s name. 2. Fake ID Creation The DLN could be used to forge a fake driver’s license, which can then be used for: Age-restricted purchases (alcohol, tobacco, etc.). Gaining access to services requiring ID verification (e.g., banking, mobile contracts). Illegal employment or renting properties. 3. Vehicle & Traffic-Related Fraud Cloning a victim’s license to avoid penalties (e.g., speeding tickets, parking fines). Registering stolen vehicles under the victim’s name. Applying for fraudulent car insurance or claiming false accidents. 4. Phishing & Social Engineering Attacks The DLN can make phishing attempts more convincing (e.g., fake DVLA emails requesting "verification"). Combined with other leaked data, it could help bypass security questions for account takeovers. 5. Government & Benefit Fraud Applying for fraudulent benefits (e.g., Universal Credit) using the victim’s identity. Accessing government services or tax-related fraud. 6. Data Brokering & Further Exploitation Selling the DLN on the dark web to other criminals for use in broader scams. Mitigation Steps for Victims If a U.K. citizen suspects their DLN has been compromised, they should: Report to the DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency) to flag potential misuse. Monitor credit reports (via Experian, Equifax, or TransUnion) for suspicious activity. Enable fraud alerts with CIFAS (a U.K. fraud prevention service). Be vigilant for phishing attempts (fake DVLA emails/texts). Consider identity theft protection services if the breach is part of a larger data leak.    It’s a real madhouse. ⚠️ AVOID IF YOU ARE A SOLO FEMALE TRAVELER ⚠️ This is the worst hostel I’ve ever stayed in. It feels more like a shelter for homeless and unstable individuals. Guests were charged to welcome new arrivals themselves, and the staff manager was drunk. As a woman traveling alone, I felt completely unsafe. Men were being pushy with me, and I only felt relieved once my male friends arrived hours later. People fought in the lounge, very dirty place, a cockroach in my shower…

   Do not book if you are a woman. As two young women we felt unsafe and very uncomfortable. Nothing is explained at the beginning, someone just gave us our keys (which open all rooms and all doors of the hostel). The entire place is shabby and dirty. There is only two very dirty toilets for at least 30 people and we guess there is a shower but we did not find it. There is no kitchen, no boiler. No microwave. No fridge. Just beers ? We left before spending the night and no refund

   the staff and some male guests were very gross and inappropriate to me and my female friends, this coupled with the fact we were never asked for ID made me feel quite unsafe and uncomfortable. The rooms themselves were what I had expected, and checking in was fairly easy, however both the staff and the male guests were repeatedly inappropriate and rude to us, to the extent that it was definitely sexual harassment.

   The hostel was just ok, but I won't recommend it to anyone because of the pure evil that wears a black bucket hat, works there, and seems to have no life outside of the place. The worst day he ran a wet mop over my feet, did something violent with the mop bucket trying to splash me, refused to contact the owner, caused a huge argument, lost his mind, repeatedly yelling "kill them all" when I asked a man to come to the kitchen as I didn't feel safe as bucket hat had followed me in and started ordering me about. When I quickly left for the day he was being held back by the guy who I ask for help from and another. I walked around the corner of the building, and before I reached the 2nd he jumped in a puddle right next to me. About 20 minutes later he verbally abused me outside a supermarket, then about another hour, I was in the library, when he left 3 bundles of rubbish bags on the table I was sitting at, then left. VERY CONDENSED! Edited to add _ During my stay he accused me of flooding the shower room, and breaking the clothes washing machine, neither of these things happen, both times he said he had video proof, I demanded he show me and everyone else there, but of course he couldn't, you can't tape what never happened. I never touched the washing machine, let alone used it. In the dorm room he deliberately kicked my suitcase multiple times, trying, and failing to make it look like he was tripping. Incase the actual owner reads this, I'm the one who spoke to you about his behaviour on the first day of conflict (the above all happened after that), while you were fixing the ground floor shower. You should also know that he claims to be the owner (even though he knew I had already spoken to you), and also refuses to contact you, in my case on multiple occasions.

   Great location. wouldn’t come back as a solo female traveller. did not feel safe here. Understanding that the kitchen needed to be bombed, however staff were rude with taking food to room when no other storage was offered. Lockers weren’t able to be locked even with our own. Male staff would walk in unannounced multiple times a day/ night with no knocks. Single shower for entire building, has hole in door, able to see in. Cleanliness was tolerable, but for safety would never come back.

The beds were old and nearly falling apart. The bedding was extremely unhygienic and had stains.

    The place is a hole. Yes it’s cheap but it’s gross. The facilities are rubbish to nonexistent, the male staff working are creepy, the beds are uncomfortable and the place is nothing like the photos. Honestly wasn’t expecting much at all but it was beyond horrible. Got up and left as quickly as possible in the morning.

    Rooms were as advertised, nothing wrong with them. Bathrooms were fine. Kitchen also as advertised, I suppose . . . no refrigerator, very few cups or bowls. However, the kitchen was in a constantly dirty state---staff/guests left dirty dishes, oven was smoking, bugs climbing on walls etc. Simply not worth the price, spend a bit more elsewhere unless you don't plan on entering the kitchen then maybe it's worth it. Until they overbooked my room. Stayed for multiple nights but had to spend one on the couch because someone entered and slept in my bed. They deny overbooking, but it is still their responsibility to ensure guests know where their room is (but guest was able to unlock the door, so clearly they were in the room assigned). Staff offered no remedy for this, unsurprisingly, and was not especially attentive to the guests. Location is conveniently between center city and university areas.
