Ginger Banana Hostel

It’s a very nice hostel with a cute aesthetic, very colourful and welcoming with beautiful decor. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious enough to stay and sleep comfortably. Only cons were the rooms were not the cleanest and there’s a lot of noise at night because it’s located across from a bar.

Ginger Banana is a wonderful hostel very well located just a few blocks from the center. It is very well decorated and the inside garden, the pool and the balcony look amazing. I stayed during Dias de los Muertos and it was very expensive but as I know it was the same for every location in the city for those days.. Only bad note are the toilets that could use a bit of renovations but overall I’m very happy with my experience and would 100% recommend.

Problems: - toilet doors didn’t lock - no proper shower doors - no lock on dorm rooms - no way to dry hands in bathroom - bathroom / pool weren’t always clean - no privacy screen between two adjacent beds in 12 bed dorm - not very many organised activities

Toutefois, malgré que les gens qui y séjournent soient généralement calmes, l’environnement reste assez bruyant. Il y a un bar devant qui fait jouer de la musique jusqu’aux petites heures du matin. beautiful hostel, everything is very new (and some parts still in construction when i was there). not really a sociable vibe and rather empty. staff was nice and helpful. when there was an issue with my room I could quickly change to another one. Great hostel all in all, just needs some more time to find its groove maybe :)

Nice place

This hostel was the prettiest and most modern hostel that I’ve been in. It has lots of space, updated appliances and comfy furniture. I stayed in a shared dorm and it had plenty of space. My only issue was the noise. I could hear everything going on outside of my room and we had to ring a doorbell to get in. So it was tough during the night and early mornings to hear all of the noise.

Die Lage war super. Alles ist zu Fuss gut erreichbar. Das Personal war freundlich und man konnte vor Ort verschiedene Touren buchen. Wir waren in einen Privatzimmer, welches sehr schön eingerichtet war. Der Abfluss hat aber gestunken. Wasser steht gratis zur Verfügung. Bei der Anreise haben wir das Hostel fast nicht gefunde, da es von aussen nicht angeschrieben ist.

Mixed feelings! I loved it initially and I think the staff is amazing - kind and super helpful. I slept in two rooms: one was great but the other one was quite crammed and you could barely open the door without hitting the first bunk bed, which was unfortunately mine. It was way too close to the door to be able to have a good night’s sleep, especially since people would leave the door open in the middle of night and early morning. A lot of noise came to the room + toilets have no lock

Het hostel is goed gelegen in het hartje van Oaxaca, het is een heel mooi hostel. Inchecken laat in de avond is mogelijk, maar verwacht je niet aan de meest behulpzame mensen aan de receptie. De bedden zijn goed, het zwembad is leuk, dakterras fijn. De gedeelde vrouwenbadkamer is een ramp, deuren van de WC's sluiten niet, douches met gordijnen, zonder plek om kleren op te hangen en douchekoppen half kapot. Heel vuil en helft van de tijd geen wc-papier.

Not very social but very cute Hostel. Perfect for exploring Oaxaca City. Everything was clean, hot water was provided and the rooftop terrace is very nice. We stayed in a private room & would stay there again. Right across the street is a bar that blasts incredibly loud, terrible music late into the night. Be sure to bring earplugs! Hostel is not easy to find as there is no sign outside.

10/10 – would stay again! Beautiful, modern hostel in a surprisingly large, well-renovated building. Everything felt clean and thoughtfully designed. Staff were very kind and accommodating. I stayed 5 nights in a private room – overall very calm and relaxing. Not very social and can be noisy at night (bring earplugs). Hot water was a bit inconsistent. Still, I felt very comfortable and would definitely recommend it!

Great friendly home away from home. Friendly staff, Common kitchen, free coffee and lovely small pool in the central courtyard facilitates mingling of guests. both private and shared accomodations possible.

A hostel so nice we stayed twice! Our private rooms were on the second floor and we found them spacious, comfortable, and functional. The pool was a perfect afternoon escape from the heat. The atmosphere is mellow, with plenty of quiet spots to relax or work, indoors and out. Great location within walking distance to restaurants and activities. Highly recommend the Oaxaca Food Tour they have posters for as well!

Lovely hostel with a really nice vibe. Staff are lovely, the pool is a major bonus and great facilities. We stayed in a private en suite and were very happy. A polite atmosphere, but not a party hostel. It was filled with couples like us so it was nice.

Hostel qui ressemble à un hôtel au vue des prestations proposées ! Je recommande clairement ce lieu, je n’ai jamais été dans un hostel aussi beau et aussi propre que celui-ci. Très central.

I loved the space so much, I was however really disappointed with the system they used for entry. I never had a good sleep because of it. 2 nights in a row someone was banging on the door for 30 minutes at 5 am and the doorman was not there to let them in. Waking me and several other people up. On the third day, the doorman had left an alarm on his phone that went off for almost 15 minutes. I had even gotten up to turn it off myself, at which point he got up too. Very disappointed with this.

Fantastic oasis in the middle of Oaxaca - best kitchen facilities I have ever had in a hostel. Gorgeous little pool and sun area which was fab after a long hot day. Staff were super helpful and friendly. Comfy beds and good hot showers. Really recommend.

Beautiful hostel with great facilities, especially the dorm beds, pool, rooftop terrace, and common area. Staff were nice, chill, and available 24/7. The one major drawback is that there isn’t a social atmosphere or sense of community among travelers, because activities are not organized within the hostel. So if you are looking for a very communal hostel, this definitely is not it — which is too bad, because there is a lot of potential for it to be fantastic across the board.
