Chapter San Francisco

+ I did.not like anything about this.property as the staff were extremely unfriendly and aggressive. I reported mice infestation in the common lounge & kitchen area that way not taken seriously. Other guests before me had done so and no action was taken.

- The Manager was extremely unfriendly and aggressive. Despite making a booking to extend my stay and pre-paying she asked me to leave the property and said in email that she had cancelled my booking. This was on 12 December and I still have not received my refund.

+ Immediately after checking in, I receive a message in WhatsApp apparently from the hotel to re-do my reservation I totally realized it was a scam so i reported it, I guess they are hacked but don’t know what to do about it.

- Toilet bad smell. Dirty towel.

- intentaron engañarnos. Nos dijeron que podían modificar la reserva sin problema de 10 a 6 días, y cuando pedimos la factura nos dijeron que no hacía falta porque no cambiaba nada. La chica de limpieza es bastante desagradable, no habla inglés, pero te grita para que te apartes. La limpieza deja mucho que desear, en 10 días no limpiaron la habitación ni una vez y antes de llegar nosotros tampoco mucho pues había una mochila y basura debajo de la cama.

- Refused refund even though my booking did not match the description prior to payment. I raised a dispute chargeback via my card, property unresponsive to resolve the issue.

+ El lugar es muy limpio, sábanas limpias, baños y regaderas limpias, un lugar excelente para conocer mucha gente, excelente ubicación

- Al principio me pareció un poco encerrado, pero después entendí que es una ciudad grande y los espacios son limitados en cualquier lugar.

+ A bed area that feels like a private room. Streamlined procedures. A prime location.

- On the night of April 9, someone stole three bottles of beer that I had stored in the communal refrigerator with a name label on them. Just because a hotel is nice doesn’t mean the guests are.

+ The women’s dorm was quiet and everyone was very respectful of space. I was in a room of 6 bunks and it was full but you didn’t really hear people. The amount of areas to chill, work, make food was amazing and I could actually get work done. The staff were also very nice and helpful with any questions. It’s also continently located near the Boston Commons which is a plus.

- The bathrooms could have been cleaner. I did not use the shower because it was only a 1 night stay, but didn’t feel very clean. Also, a minute detail, but the water bottle filling station on my floor was pouring so slow it developed a line of people.

+ Sicherlich eines der besten Hostels in denen ich je war! Ruhig und günstig. Das die Gemeinschaftsküche keinen Herd hat, wurde hier schon mehrfach kritisiert. Mir hat das nicht gefehlt. Und dass etliche Leute dort auch länger wohnen, weil sie z. B. neu in San Francisco arbeiten und noch keine Wohnung gefunden haben, spricht für sich. Ich habe für einen 4 Stunden späteren Checkout 20 Dollar bezahlt - finde ich total in Ordnung.

+ De locatie was best goed en de stapelbedden waren vrij comfortabel.

- Aangezien we bij aankomst begroet werden door urine geur in de gang vonden we dit al geen goed teken. De kamer was oké, hier moet je natuurlijk ook geluk hebben met je kamergenoten. De badkamers daarentegen… deze leken nooit gekuist te worden. De wc’s en douches waren steeds best vies. Overal haren, papiertjes… Allesbehalve een hygiënische omgeving. Het personeel was ook niet echt behulpzaam. Ik merkte dat na een uitstap mijn bed was gebruikt, afval op mijn bed, vuil en haren… wanneer ik dit melde werd er mij verteld dat ging opgelost worden. Niets was minder waar, bij terugkomst na een lange dag in de stad was mijn bed nog steeds vuil. Gelukkig was er nog proper bed in de kamer dat ik kon gebruiken want aan de frontdesk was niemand meer. In de kamer lagen er ook onder alle bedden muizenvallen. Dit lijkt ons ook niet normaal. We waren onder de indruk van de score en reviews van eerdere gasten maar vragen ons toch af in welk hostel zij hebben geslapen. Wat ons betreft zouden we dit nooit aanraden aan iemand.

+ Pros: Location is great. Within walking distance of good cafés, restaurants, shops. Great communal kitchen area with plenty to cook most meals if wanted. Facilities were clean and of good quality.

- Cons: Depending on what bed you get, you may not get a view out the window. Something to note: bring a lock to secure your belongings in the provided locker. Otherwise, locks are available for sale.

+ Quiet and peaceful corner to come back to. The curtained beds were great to come back to and a bit dangerous because I would sleep too much.

- The location, not a safe area to be wandering around. Everyone I spoke to that was staying there had stories with people chasing them or harassing them in the street. Also, no ability to cook other than a microwave really.

- The bathrooms were not fully replenished with toilet seat paper, toilet paper, hand paper towels, and the garbage was overflowing. Otherwise everything was great, other patrons were respectful in the rooms but the bathroom cleanliness and the hairdryer could have worked (all 3 hairdryers were out midnight and the next morning)

- Common area was sometimes uncomfortable due to limited space.
