The hotel is very good, comfortable with hot showers, but the trek manager is fundamentally dangerous. Underneath his fake friendly demeanour and honeyed tone, he assures you that you do not need to take anything with you on the 3-day treks and that the guide will take care of everything. Imagine our surprise when we discovered that the guide had neither water (for 3 days!) nor toilet paper during the Santa Cruz trek! Between this dangerous man and the unpleasant woman at reception, run away!
This was my first bad experience with hostels! We had issues with cold water, power outages, very poor service, and a slow breakfast. For this type of place, it’s important to be better prepared to receive guests.
The hostel kitchen and dorms were filthy. There was 3 used socks and an earplug in my bedding the day I checked in and they insisted they had changed the sheets. It stank of other people’s sweat. I had to push for a clean sheet and still they only gave me 1 top sheet no bottom sheet. The kitchen was constantly filthy and unusable. They are offering free beer/ taxis for good reviews so that’s how this place has other high ratings.
They canceled my first reservation a few hours before arrival because they discovered they were overbooked, and didn’t even offered help. One of the receptionists was very unpleasant and not welcoming. The room was dirty and full of hairs
Very disappointed in this accommodation. The room smelled like dirty toilet from the second we arrived, it worsened at night (to the point where we couldn’t use our bathroom) & the toilet leaked water onto the bathroom floor. Made for a very unpleasant stay. Staff were unhelpful in solving the issue, gave us spray to use quickly then asked for it back. They tried to charge me for another towel to replace the one I had to put on the bathroom floor to clean up the water. Would not return/recomme...
The sheets was dirty. we stayed for one night even though we had booked 2 nights but put are own towels over the pillows . I mentioned to the guy later on that it was dirty an he said yes they have problem with the cleaner. He said it would be fine to get a refund for the second night. In the morning I went to reception an the was an old lady there called rosa that was very rude to my girlfriend an refused to give the correct amout of money. Lots of cats about the place
most unhelpful Hostel reception I have ever encountered
Bad experience. Showed personnel my bedbug bites after staying here for three nights, and she totally didn't care and was completely apathic towards me, even when I urged them to thoroughly clean the bed an the blankets (that they reuse and seem quite gross) for precaution. Also the 6 person dorm I stayed in was horridly cramped and depressing, don't stay here if you want to relax or recuperate before or after a hike (or possibly avoid bedbugs). When checking in only got showed to my bed and
it was a great stay warm staff and tge atmosphere was just great

Had a great stay here - the beds were really comfy and I had such a great sleep! The only issue was the WiFi was sometimes slow but wasn’t a big deal. Would reccommend
I had a great time here. Overall, the hostel is very quiet. The breakfast was good, and the kitchen was clean and well-equipped. Unfortunately, there isn't a restaurant at the hostel.
i really liked the hostel. big kitchen with everything i needed. the beds were comfy and had a lot of blankets for the cold nights. would come again.
Super social hostel and facilities are good (water filter is a major plus!!) Unfortunately I booked the Santa Cruz Trek through the hostel and was left quite disappointed with it. Don't get me wrong- the trek is amazing, but several things that were promised was not delivered. I was promised an English speaking guide (my guide did not speak 1 word of english) We had to sleep 3 girls in a 2 person tent (just no..) I found our I paid more than 100 soles more, then the other participants..
Friendly and helpful staff, many cute cats and good common areas to socialise with people. Clean beds and rooms. Very secure with doorbell and locked gate to enter the building. One of my favourite stays and definitely coming back again!
Free water! Curtains on beds! Lots of cats! Good location!
Good for hiking. Lots of cats!
Really nice hostel & helpful staff. I left my bags here when I did Santa Cruz and also used showers when I came back before my night bus! Can’t recommend enough.
Very nice hostel with clean cozy beds. Carlos was very friendly and helpful and the cats were so sweet. Thank you alpes!
very friendly staff, good food, easy to book onto hikes, close to bus station for overnight busses, felt very safe as group of females, lots of cats, comfy beds
Alles war super, außer dass das warme Wasser einen Tag lang ausfiel.
Great hostel, rooms were really nice and staff were super helpful. Really quiet hostel, not overly social. Kitchen was also great! Heeeaps of cats around which were cute but wouldn’t recommend if you have a cat allergy
Accueil parfait. Chambre disponible très tôt alors bon point après un long trajet de bus. Petit bémols il fait assez froid dans les chambres. Il y a également pleins de chats et ce n’est pas mentionné pour les personnes allergiques! Mais le reste était top!
Very nice hostel. Good environment & service!
Heel fijn hostel met heel vriendelijk en relaxed personeel dat je helpt bij elke vraag die je stelt.
Fantastic stay at Alpes huaraz. They were very flexible and we were able to leave our bags when doing the Santa Cruz trek! Lovely cats too :)
Some staff were friendly, and the location was quiet, but my stay was disappointing. The hostel had many cats, which wasn’t mentioned, and I’m allergic, so it affected my stay. Our bathroom smelled terrible. They also advertised transport to the Huayhuash trek but couldn’t provide it after two days of waiting. A young receptionist pretended to understand English, causing confusion. I wouldn’t book again.
We had a fantastic stay here! The hostel organized tours for us and held our bags while we were away on a multi day hike. Highly recommend.
In general it is okay for the price. It is ok clean, only the bathroom and room smelled very bad even though it is quite clean, and it general there is a cat smell everywhere. It is annoying that they close the kitchen between 8 and 9 am, especially if they do not stick to these given times. There was no handsoap in the rooms, even when i asked a few times for it. Laundry service was great and there is a lot of space to chill and it the garden inside is very nice.
Excellent hostel - clean, quiet with a good kitchen
