Surfing Etxea Surf Hostel

Great location, however old building with no A/C. 6 bed dorm was actually a 7 bed dorm. Staff friendly and helpful. Overpriced

Pretty expensive for what you get, no free towel, small and not clean bathrooms, and strict rules

Had a nice time staying here, it has a cosy & friendly atmosphere, staff were really good. Unfortunately all of San Sebastian’s hostels are so expensive, which I don’t think is worth the money you pay. Especially as there is no laundry or proper kitchen facilities to cook I also wish the bedroom had a lock on the door, as it would make me feel more secure especially as there is no reception at night. There is a night access door which is good, but i did find it lying open one day.

L’auberge est propre et bien situé mais n’a pas réellement d’espace commun et aucune activité n’est organisé. Il n’y a pas vraiment de cuisine (juste un micro-onde). Pas la meilleure auberge si vous êtes seul et que vous souhaitez rencontrer d’autres voyageurs.

Clean and efficiently run. Rather a cramped space and the most expensive hostel I've ever stayed in. It did the job but I wouldn't stay there again.

Friendly vibe and great people. Communal showers and toilets for whole hostel. There’s only 4 showers and 2 toilets + accessibility friendly bathroom with shower and toilet if you want privacy. Toilets and sink were often clogged with tissue paper

This was my first hostel experience and needless to say it did not disappoint. The beds are super comfortable and have curtains which is great for privacy. The location could not be better—it’s a less than 5 minute walk to the beach and 10-15 to old town. The staff were so fun, kind, and created a comfortable environment. It is a “social hostel” but only if you make it social. The only semi complaint is that there was a 50/50 chance the two toilets in the main bathroom would flush all th...

It's not as social as they said they are. Really difficult to meet people since there is no common space. They don't organize any activities or meet up. I think it's not worth the price, room don't have any AC, no coffee or breakfast included. I am a bit disappointed.

Everything was very clean and the staff were all very friendly! The location was perfect- just 10-15 mins to get to Old Town and 5 mins from the beach! You can book discounted surfing lessons through the hostel which were a blast. Not the most social hostel I’ve stayed in, but everyone was very friendly.

I had a great stay at this hostel! The staff are AMAZING, so welcoming and kind and always inviting guests to do activities. My only downfall is no female rooms/female bathrooms as I had a run in with a naked man in the bathroom on my last morning. Overall the rest of my experience was only positives.

This place was everything I was looking for in San Sebastian Thank You Truly

Such a good experience I almost don't want to recommend it because then it will be harder to book next time! Will absolutely be coming back in the future. Staff were awesome and friendly, great vibes with the other guests. Only downside is that the "kitchen" doesn't have a range to cook on and one of the showers had a broken door mechanism during my visit.

Really loved this hostel. I was after somewhere chill to stay whilst I’m on a bikepacking trip through Europe and this was a great spot to spend a couple nights, have some rest and recharge. Great location, great staff, the rooms were super spacious and the 8 bed dorm didn’t feel at all crowded. Shame I didn’t get the chance to surf but maybe next time. Nothing bad to say about this hostel, really appreciate the chill vibe it has going on! Cheers guys, Rob

the volunteers working there are all very welcoming & helpful. its in a perfect location right by the beach & just a short walk to the other side of town. cleaned daily. 100% would stay agin when Im back

Love coming back to this hostel! It’s like coming back to old friends. Aritz and the staff treat you like family. One of the best stays ever at a hostel. One block from the surf and steps away from amazing Pinxtos bars and beautiful hikes. Facilities are comfortable and get the job done. The little bar is epic, and is usually the beginning to a good night out. I look forward to coming back.

If I could rate this hostel higher, I would. It exceeded my expectations and everyone I met whether it be the hostel warden/person who does and knows everything or fellow world travellers, who were very interesting, fun and people I want to know in my future. I loved my journey there and i know i will return.

Perfect location 5 mins to the main surf beach, food cafes around there are really good, friendly staff, easy in and out, board rentals could be a little cheaper but really great stay. Good cappuccino’s!
