- Do you believe in time travel? I didn’t—at least not until I checked into this hostel. But after meeting the receptionist, I started to wonder if Marie Antoinette had somehow teleported herself into the 21st century and taken the night shift. The hostel itself is nice… as long as you don’t arrive on an overnight bus. Apparently, doing so risks disturbing Her Majesty’s royal slumber. We waited outside for about 15–20 minutes, and when she finally descended from whatever palace-sized bed she sleeps in—probably the size of ten football fields—she looked at us like we owed her €100,000. While I was checking in, another girl rang the doorbell. The receptionist let out the most dramatic, perfectly timed “shit” I’ve ever heard. Honestly, I thought she was about to launch into a three-minute rap featuring 500 F-words and win a Grammy on the spot. She must be incredibly busy, though. Judging by her attitude, she was multitasking about 100,000 urgent matters while also doing us the immense favor of checking us in. My sincere recommendation? She should quit this job and run for President of Planet Earth. Only a position of that magnitude would truly match her extraordinary sense of superiority.

- Water falling out of the celling! STAY AWAY IF YOU DONT WANT YOUR THINGS GETTING WET!!!! The celling has holes apparently and they have been dripping water during all of the night and morning. When I woke up I have discovered that buckets were put where the water dripped EXCEPT IN WHERE WERE ALL OF MY STUFF. My suitcase got flooded with all of my clothes inside getting soaked wet. All of the morning I got clothes out and tried to dry them. In the middle of it, a crew member entered and when confronted with this situation he said “things like that happens”. In the reception I have talked with a manager that told me that the only solution they can offer is drying my clothes for free, but I had to drive to another city the same day didn’t have the time to wait for it. They have not given any other solution such as a refund or anything else. When I told them I will make a bad recommendation about it they were super mean to me and urged me to get out of the hostel. They also took a photo of me in a command of the manager. In general the place is super noisy at night due to the parties they make at the rooftop. Rooms are super crowded with 10-12 people. Also the crew opened the light of the room occasionally during the early morning. Furthermore there are not much showers and toilets for all of the people and I had to wait for my turn.

- Я останавливалась в хостеле и завтракала в ресторане. Мне не понравилось ни то ни другое. Проблемы хостела: - шум!!! Ресторан играет громкую музыку до полуночи. Спать невозможно. - Духота. Окно комнаты выходит в общую зону. Так что приходиться выбирать - либо свежий воздух, либо тишина. С открытым окном громко. С закрытым окном невозможно дышать. Кондиционер не работал. - На кухне грязно. Проблемы ресторана: Мне нужно было успеть на самолет, поэтому не смотря на то, что я плохо выспалась из-за шума в ресторане, я решила дать этому месту второй шанс и поесть у них в ресторане. К тому же, у меня не было времени еще куда-то идти. Я пришла заранее! Заранее уточнила, сколько времени понадобится на то, чтобы приготовить сэндвич. Мне сказали 10 минут. В итоге я ждала сэндвич более получаса. Когда официант подошел извиниться за задержку, знаете что он мне предложил? Купить второй напиток, пока я жду сэндвич! Серьезно? Вы плохо работаете а я должна платить вам еще больше? У меня уже не было выбора, я нервничала, что опоздаю на самолет и ждала сэндвич. В итоге сэндвич принесли с какой то абсурдно огромной порцией картошки. Картошки я съела только одну дольку. Она была не вкусная. Отсыревшая, не хрустящая и не соленая. С кожурой. В самом сэндвиче обещанный сыр нарезан таким тонким ломтиком, что аж стыдно. А майонеза налили такое огромное количество, просто ужас. Такое ощущение что это дешевый бутерброд из супермаркета. Кроме того, на моем столе небыло салфеток, кроме тех, в которые упаковывались ножи и вилки.

- The big noise like an old washing machine, you could listen at it all day and part of the night. We asked the staff but they didn't do anything. They didn't clean the room. The showers were terrible.
+ I stayed in this hostel during my visit to Lima. The area around is nice and pretty safe. The guy at the reception is very nice and he helped me with everything, he was very friendly.
- The main disadvantage is rude disrespectful girl at the reception.

- Para empezar el hotel se comunico conmigo una vez que hice la reserva y me pidio cancelarla ya que no habia habitaciones, Una mala experiencia.

Girl on reception refused to fill my water up (there’s no drinkable water in the hostel), was unhelpful when asking about city buses, asked for the rest of my laundry at 10pm and was argued with to come back in 30mins. Dorms smelly, wifi doesn’t reach a lot of places, showers either boiling or freezing. Not very sociable. Previous reviews state were told they’d get a free drink if they gave a high review, explains the score. Should put as much effort into the hostel as they do the restaura...

This was quite a scam. Most of the pictures you see are not from the hostel but from the restaurant downstairs and they are not available for the guests staying at the hostel. Moreover, there was NEVER hot water in the showers - it’s a problem that has been going on for weeks but staff just dismiss people and tell them it will be fixed “soon”. Security is non existent - no, they don’t check your bracelet when you come in. The vibe is off. The only good thing is the location and cleannes...
Great place to stay for a few nights if you’re a backpacker. Diana and the staff were great and very helpful. I’d suggest some fans in the dorms as they get hot and stuffy, but overall I’m satisfied with the experience. 👍🏾
It was a well located hostel and okay cleanliness but I wouldn’t stay there again, 3/4 bed (in the private double room), no hot water, wifi didn’t work apart from in the lobby. Out of 4 available showers only 2 were working so had a long wait every morning. Downstairs had a good vibe restaurant (we didn’t eat) but made the rooms loud until late at night (we stayed over a weekend), the outside communal areas are owned by the restaurant - you can’t use them unless you’re a paying custome...
Le quartier où est situé l’hostel est magnifique !! L’hostel était également très bien ainsi que l’accueil. Un mood très chill où il y fait bon vivre. Cependant, ne pas se fier uniquement aux premières photos car ce sont des photos du restaurant et du bar qui sont accessibles uniquement avec consommation :)

Stayed at this hostel for 1 week, and it was nice overall. Clean and in a great location. However, on my last day, the staff were really rude, and the vibe felt a bit too corporate for my liking. Also, a lot of the photos online are actually of a restaurant that you can’t access unless you buy food, so the rooftop and other spaces are off-limits. Plus, the hot water was really inconsistent. half the time, it was cold. So, it was a mixed bag.
La habitación estaba muy bien. Había oscuridad total, lo cual se agradece para dormir bien. La cama cómoda. Para mí lo más incómodo son los baños. Como sugerencia les pondría algún colgador o estante para poder colocar las cosas. Cené súper rico en el restaurante. Me sentí muy segura, el personal muy amable dispuesto a ayudar.
I stayed here for +2 weeks and had overall a good stay. All the staff is really kind, specially Diana. Good location and spacious rooms. However the kitchen is too small for that amount of people and cooking utensils are old and broken.
Un lugar perfecto para explorar Lima. El cuarto y los baños estaban limpias, el restaurante es delicioso, el jardín bello, y el barrio es más quieto que en Miraflores.

I enjoyed my time in Ancestral, great place in the heart of Barranco. Safe, clean and very helpful staff.
Okay if you have just a short 1 to 2 night stop but nothing for longer. Big dorms, bad mattresses, meh showers but the staff was nice and the location is amazing
The space is shared with a popular restaurant, and the dorm is right above the restaurant's very loud kitchen. Loud music and nonstop noise every day from 8am until around midnight. The hostel has its own separate entrance which is left unlocked and unguarded all day, so anyone can walk in off the street and take anything not in a locker. Tiny common area, the pictures on hostelworld depict the restaurant, not the hostel common area.
Chill and chatty hostel for a great price. That said, you are basically living in a cafe/restaurant/bar so you have customers seeing you as you walk to the shower… it’s a bit awkward.

J’ai adoré l’établissement mais encore plus le personnel. Très gentil, très compréhensif, surtout (Cielo) qui m’a donné un service incroyable lors de ma première journée. J’ai adoré!
