Madame Isabelle's House in New Orleans

The dorm I was in had a broken window, the hot tub was broken and the staff were not too friendly. The people staying there were fantastic though.

No option to pay in cash makes it very difficult for an esteemed street musician like myself to stay there, which is why I gave it a big frown for value for money.

Tiny place with Bunks so low you cannot sit upright... 1-Shower per 8-Guests & the only chairs available are used as "Luggage Racks"!!!

TRUTH: Avoid the entire Hostel industry in this City. It’s basically run by “Volunteers” that couldn’t care less for the most part. Run down buildings and the crowd that the Hostel attracts, I’d rather pay for hotel next time honestly. Example: For Breakfast, one Volunteer that supposedly has all this experience literally served us as paying guests RAW EGGS thinking they were hard boiled. The place was a bit too dirty. There was only one bathroom to be shared across too many guests of the property. The average age at the hostel was very high (50+). It’s in a decent area. Overall not sure I recommend this place

I did not enjoy my stay in this hostel, but that doesn't mean its not for everyone. The hostel wasn't very social with little activities or atmosphere to meet other travellers, also the vibe of the hostel was a bit off. I left the stay early as it all felt weird with random old men staying in the dorms and lots of drug remains left in the morning. Communal areas were not the cleanest and the pillows were terrible. The location of the hostel feels very unsafe. There were a group of addicts laying on the floor of an abandoned building that’s right by the hostel. The front door of the hostel was open all night. The women’s dorm had a lock which helped us feel very safe when we slept tho. The bathroom and space was not clean. Bathroom had mold and bunks had debris. Good location near all the touristic places and price. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.

In the female dorm room 5 if you get the beds by the one single window be prepared for a possum to be in your bed. There is no screen in the window and animals come in whenever it is open. Otherwise the volunteer staff are amazing and so kind! I love all the events they organize and I appreciate them so much! That said, not sure id stay here again and if I did I’d 100% make sure its not in room 5

We have never been welcomed better than at Madame Isabelle’s! We really enjoyed our stay and the location was amazing and so close to the French Quarter. We can’t wait to come back!

I bee here multiple of times. Location is nice if you enjoy thecountry type environment /living. They have nice backyard areas but have your mosquitoe spray for backyard outside area.

super Unterkunft. perfekte Lage. Auf manche Dinge in der Beschriebung wir weniger Wert gelegt. menschen über 40 in den großen Schlafsälen. stellt aber für much kein Problem da. Frühstück für den Preis genau richtig.

I stayed two nights under one reservation and left a perfect review. It was sincere! But then I stayed another night, and my experience was wildly different! Maybe the place is haunted, maybe the volunteers really need serious mental health intervention. As much empathy or undergoing as i can have for “bad days,” it’s very unsettling to witness staff stage-whispering curses and condemnations directed toward other volunteers and guests while you’re having a coffee. Cute hostel, good breakfast that made it worth the price. Good en-suite bath in women’s dorm but was suuuuper dim, I feel they could add better lights there and on the mirrors considering girls are getting ready there. Upper bunk was really hard to get into, there was no ladder. Awesome staff. Prepare for mosquitos.

Great location and the property is attractive, so no massive complaints. The plumbing in the girls dorm could use some work though. There was constantly standing water in the sink and shower. The lack of bathrooms is also a concern. The rooms have en suites so if someone’s in there you’re just kind of out of luck. There’s only one extra toilet in the whole house which I could see being a bigger issue if the house was at capacity

Accommodating and friendly staff, sweet cats, satisfying continental breakfast, and very comfortable beds. The location is great. The hostel is charming, well-maintained, and clean. I’m so glad I came here!

Madame Isabelle's House est une auberge idéalement placée et très conviviale. On se sent directement chez nous, et les bénévoles sont très sympas. Je recommande sans hésiter !

What a pleasure! It's been a long time since I stayed at a hostel; I was bowled over by the welcome acceptance from the staff and other guests. Meilleur hostel que j’ai pu faire aux USA personnel incroyable et dévoué. Maison magnifique avec intérieur atypique. Dortoir confortable et présence d’une cuisine pour se faire à manger. De manière générale les gens se retrouvent dehors le soir ou le matin et discutent. Franchement le standing est au niveau et dépasse largement les autres établissements où je suis allé. Je recommande fortement d’y passer pour un séjour à la Nouvelles Orleans

Alex (Alix?), Georgia, and Tyler were the staff I met and they were so helpful, welcoming, and fun! Shenanigans in the kitchen are always my favorite. Absolutely recommend staying here. The all females bunk room was clean, quiet, and very comfortable. Thanks y'all!
