UCPA Sport Station Hostel Paris

The mold in multiple showers stalls, better signs for men and women restrooms, bed bugs, staff dealing with the bed bug problems, noise control, staff in forcing the rules with noise, smoking and others not allowed in the room.

Staff were friendly, the sports facilities are excellent, and the hostel is close to the metro/bus stop. Bedrooms are designed well, with each bed feeling private with either a wooden separator or curtain. Unfortunately I was bitten by bed bugs, the bathrooms were in poor condition with mould and felt unclean, the mattresses were noisy at night and the shutters outside rattled loudly. A word of warning - it's very difficult to make your bed if you arrive late at night and are given a top bunk!

Unfortunately the room and shower were not clean. I got multiple bed bug bites on my legs from staying here and am trying to treat this while backpacking through many countries. Very disappointing and not worth the price.

There was dust on the floors, so more cleaning would be good. No socket by the bed, there was a USB outlet by the bedside lamp but it was broken and barely any sockets in the entire room. Some bed bugs too, but its Paris so what can one expect?

Rooms could be cleaned more thoroughly, lots of dust on the floor. I only saw a cleaner once when someone else checked out and she only swept briefly around their bed, not underneath. Staff seemed a little aloof if not unfriendly, compared to some other hostels I’ve stayed in. I informed a staff member that two of the three hinges on my locker had come off and she just looked at me blankly. She said she would make a note but no one came to repair it in the week I was there. Another frustrating instance where the staff told me that I would have to call a separate company when the washing machine wouldn’t run after paying (thankfully this was resolved by another staff member). Few social initiatives apart from the sports facilities, so you can meet locals but it can be difficult to connect if you are not fluent in French. It would be helpful to inform guests of when group classes are being held. I was able to meet other travellers only in my room but there weren’t many in the off peak season. Common areas closed between 11 to 7.30, so you can’t access any kitchen facilities (microwave, hot water). In general, hostel felt tangential to the UCPA brand.
