The AC was full of mold and when the staff came to look at it, they didn't clean it. I was breathing moldy air each night here.

First of all, the beds were absolutely terrible, it was literally like sleeping on wood. The staff was not very hospitable, even when speaking Japanese. Only plus side is that it is very close to the ferry to Yakushima.

The shares spaces were lovely, but the beds on the third floor were genuinely painful to sleep in, as you would wake up with an aching back, ribcage, and hips. This is a deal-breaker.

It was a comfortable enough stay. Not much atmosphere. Not enough bathrooms for whole hostel. Good location close to ferry to Sakujima and main part of city. Price was good.

The accommodation was alright even though we have not been really comfortable with the service. Besides the option only to check in until 10 PM (which is okay when you know beforehands), also the front desk rather seemed annoyed to welcome us and even acted in an unrationally angry way when we accidently entered the wrong floor (even shoes were kicked). Still, sleeping facilities have been totally fine.

The price is aligned with what the place offers. 0 security, front door was open all night, anyone could walk in. Good staff speaks English, helped me carry my suitcase to the 4th floor. Sheets and toilet area clean. 1 long term (noisy) resident cluttered the small space, the room could not be cleaned. That night a crazy woman unpacked/repacked noisily for 2-3 hrs, up to midnight and was aggressive (mind your f*** business). Staid 1 night having paid for 3. Not hostel fault, only no one to go to

Very good, no nonsense guesthouse. Check-in was fast and easy. Room and bathroom were clean. Not too far from downtown. Very close to Sakurajima ferry terminal.

Simple et efficace ! A 3 min à pieds du ferry pour les îles, auberge simple, cuisine toute équipée, dortoirs ok, 7 eleven en face ! Je recommande pour passer la nuit avant de prendre le ferry

Everything you need for a few nights. The single room was quite cosy. Grab a free coffee and enjoy on the roof top with views of the volcano. You can grab dinner there at night and also rent a towel.

Close to the wharf so easy to go to Sakurajima

Overall very clean and comfortable. 7-11 is nearby. Bus station and tenmonkan (shopping area) were 10 minutes walk. Very quiet area though when large trucks drive by the beds would shake. Good value for money and they have free coffee. Free natural washing detergent. The washing machine is ¥200 and drying was ¥100 for 20 minutes. Very good water pressure but mould on the shower doors should be taken care of.They had some long term guests who weren’t very friendly.

The hostel is okey. There is a smoking area in the common area. It also smelled a bit like zigarette smoke in the female dorm. The location near the port is great. The staff is okey. Neither friendly nor unfriendly. I probably wouldn't go again.

Great hostel and super close to the Sakurajima ferry port. 10 minute walk. Unfortunately not very close to other forms of public transport (bus/tram) so getting to/from the JR station and visiting other attractions in the city becomes a bit tricky. But otherwise, great hostel and place to base yourself in Kagoshima. You can meet people to do things with.
