Absolutely avoid this hostel! - dirty unclean - poor internet - low value compared to other hostels - unhelpful and rude staff I have visited 60 countries this is not the worst by any means , BUT lacks atmosphere and would not recommend if your looking for a safe space. Thanks,

We were unaware that we would be sharing a 2 bedroom apartment with another couple. It seems it used to be a family suite and they have changed it to an apartment instead as the old door had been boarded up in the bedroom. The walls were very thin and you could hear everything. The tv didn’t work in the communal area (we were having a day off travelling). Overall, it was okay but we wouldn’t stay again.

there was nowhere in the dorm rooms to put any thing, so the dorms were cramped and everybody's stuff was everywhere. No end tables, places to put personal belongings while sleeping, or safe place to lock anything. No luggage storage if you check out early, will just be told to leave in the common area. The room smelt bad the whole time we were there. Beds are old and very creaky. I tried to put my E Reader safely under the bed in a bag, it was broken by either cleaning staff or someoneelse.

I have been to many backpackers and this one is a bit run down. The bedroom was so old looking, smelled pretty bad, the bed wasn't very comfortable, and we had a key but it didn't lock the bedroom. I had stayed there 10 years ago, i thought it was okay at the time, but it really needs a fresh clean !

A bizarre system for allocating beds with fairly unhelpful staff when this was raised.

Helpful staff. Somewhat outdated, but clean property. Probably nicer in summer when you can enjoy the outdoor space. Bed was comfy, but bathroom could use an upgrade. WiFi wasn’t really working when I was there. Location was good with free parking

I stayed in a 4 bed dorm for two nights. It was fine, but there are no lockers in the rooms and not much privacy as the beds are very close together. The bathroom floor got wet after using the shower and there were no bath mats to keep your feet dry. They also don’t keep track of who is staying in which bed - I returned to my dorm on the second night to see my bed had been made up and claimed by a new guest. When I asked for spare linen to make up the bed they had left, reception was unfriendl...

Beds were comfy, however, I was disappointed in the lack of lockers in the room. Additionally, our room went 2 nights without staff refilling the soap in the bathroom.

this was an expensive place for the property. it was very old and the dorms were strange in that there were open beds in an open room, so not a lot of privacy. the bathrooms were old and the kitchen was ok but old as well. there was a lot of parking available. not bad overall but just very expensive for what you are getting

Good views from the shared rooms over the lake. Good point to start to Milford Sound, parking was easy at the hostel. Main kitchen area and common rooms are in a separate building from most rooms. Would recommend.

Bookes the tent for 4, globaly good, just a little far from the shower and the toilets. the shower was very humid with no ventilation also found the cooking ustensil a bit used and not very clean. But still a good hostel to stay in te anau

Very nice hostel! Would recommend this hostel!

Really good hostel - we had a private room with shared bathroom and it also had a small kitchen separate to the main kitchen. Really clean, friendly staff, good kitchen (but the chopping knives are blunt). The WiFi doesn’t work if you’re in the rooms separate to the main hostel building. Loved the hostel cats!

Really nice hostel. Kitchen always super clean and communal spaces well looked after. Dorm bathroom could do with more sound proofing and you can’t open the door if the curtains are closed which is a little annoying but all in all a great place to stay

I can’t recommend this place enough. This is the 3rd time staying. The staff are so friendly and accommodating - we did great walks using the hostel as the base, and it was awesome. A beautiful and safe backyard space, a lovely place to be all around.

Loved the location. It was perfect for a nights rest for our family of 5 on our travels

Great hostel for staying for a night for milford Sound. The washrooms are a bit tight and our room was way in the basement but for a night I'd recommend it

Great place to stay very well run. Rooms are clean, staff pleasant and helpful, kitchen spacious, lots of different areas to chill out in. Stayed here as a family with our 3 teenagers

Great hostel, good location nothing to complain about

The perfect spot to stay if you’re heading to Milford Sound as it’s halfway on the long drive from Queenstown. Very clean room and with lovely views of the mountains in the distance. Te Anau itself doesn’t have much going on but there’s loads of walks nearby and a few supermarkets. Staff were no nonsense but helpful. Would stay again.

Backpackers Lakefront ist ein sehr gemütliches Hostel dass zum Verweilen einlädt und ideal für Wanderungen im.Fiordland National Park gelegen ist.

Loooved this place! Felt like a little bed and breakfast more than a hostel! Cute friendly cats which visited! Lovely room and great kitchenette!! Bathroom was not private and was a short distance from room. In great location!! Amazing atmosphere. Beautiful town!
