The Cozy Hostel

It’s the classic hostel where people live in it. The rooms are disgusting there are clothes and stuff all over the floor, it’s almost impossible to find space for your things. The people who live there rude and disrespectful and one night it was impossible to sleep because from 3am to 5am they kept shouting, banging on room doors, music. Not recommended.

The picture of the hostel are complete outdated, "newly" renovated is a joke. Old and dirty furniture, dirty carpets in the really small rooms. Only 4 showers and toilets for the whole hostel (14 rooms á 2-6 people/room). Only outside areas to sit and most of them completly in the sun, which is really bad considering the heat there all year around. The manager messed up our reservations miultiple times, which was super annoying too. Good thing was that it was more quite then in party hostels.

There's no reception so guests have to wait outside with their luggage before the owner sends a text with entry code which took like 30 minutes for me. The rooms are extremely small, stinky, there's mold on the matrasses and ceilings and cockroaches walking around. The AC is freezing, no option to adjust the temperature. There's no proper cutlery or plates in the kitchen. Oh and while it's not a party hostel, there's super loud music till midnight from the bar nextdoors. DON'T STAY HERE

DO NOT BE FOOLED!! There is no pool. they will send you to their other property which is about a 10min walk away. Booked this place because it’s darwin and saw there was a pool, was pretty annoyed when i got there and saw that there wasn’t one even though they still advertise online. No aircon in rooms, also don’t think my bed was cleaned. Checked out a day early and was told there are no refunds even though the property was not as advertised. wouldn’t recommend.

I arrived at the hostel after a long flight from QLD and they cancelled my booking because I was over 35, I understand that but they don't advertise that in the website

It was pretty dirty, bathrooms were not clean. The carpets have been completely wet an mouldy... I would not recommend to stay there longer than one or two nights.

The only positive thing about this hostel are the beds. The rest is unbearable: the kitchen or kitchens are unequipped and dirty. In the hostel there are almost exclusively men who even live there and the whole building smells of alcohol and cigarettes. The owner made a mistake and still owes us money. We can't recommend this hostel at all! We are very disappointed.

I do not recommend this hostel in Darwin. There is no real reception—only door codes, which doesn’t feel very secure. The staff are unfriendly and condescending, making you feel unwelcome. Facilities are poor: only a small locker for your belongings and just one working washing machine out of two. Overall, not a pleasant experience

Despite advanced payment, I did not receive any text/email/call to inform me about "self checkin", until I was in front of the hostel door. The sign on the door reported 3 different numbers, I tried all the numbers multiple times just to find out that they were all wrong. I waited in the heat for quite some time until another guest let me in. Other people staying in the hostel where very kind, provided me another number and said it's normal. Pretty dirty and maintenance needed inside the host...

The rooms are very small, not the cleanest there was a lot of stains on mattresses, only 4 showers and toilets for 14 rooms, which one of the showers was broken and the other had no water pressure and had ants in. It’s very dated, there is no pool. There was also a lot of older people there looked 50+! Which I wasn’t expecting

There is no reception or card/key system, so anyone who knows the passcode to the front door can enter the hostel. The majority of the people here are staying long-term, not travelling.

I’d recommend this hostel, the staff are calm, respectful and great fun. It’s just a few minutes’ walk from the beach, where you can enjoy beautiful sunsets.

Very good hostel to make close friends, location to the city is perfect…walkable. Recommend stay here.

If the host is not there you will have to do an online check in an get a code. Be prepared to wait at least 15 minutes. The hostel itself has nice people overal that are easy going and chill so great to hang out with. The amenities leave something to be desired. Your bed doesn't have any privacy and squeaks alot since its basic metal. There is a nice washing machine and drier combo that works with online pay. overal good stay. sadly the kitchen inside was really small and didn't have a lot of pans and pots. the showers were often cold. the beds are comfy but squeaky. it was clean and the volunteers were nice, there was no real staff. there were a lot of French people. there were some old guests that were sleeping on the couch and the balcony what was a bit wierd

Hostel is really clean. really appropriate their hard working, BUT. the bed component seems really awful, i kept being awaked by the lower tenant if he moved his position on bed, it’s like, really really noticeable, i already wore earplugs so the noise shouldn’t be a problem, but entire bed is shaking like an earthquake, that’s another big problem, i’ve stayed so many hostel in OZ, it’s first one ever so bothering my sleep on bed.

Overall the place has what you need - comfortable bed, functional shower, bathroom, clean water and although I didn’t use it because we just spent one night - a kitchen and fridge. My main issue was the cleanliness - one of the toilets was full of poop and the sink full of shaving hairs. It was cleaned by the morning so good on the management but still disgusting. In Female dorms there were men sleeping with the women.

The hostel is located in the city center, close from everything. The rooms are clean and the staff has been really helpful, specially Arno has helped me till the day I arrived. Really recommended if you are looking for a hostel in Darwin!

Decent hostel, two kitchens not shared between many people. Right next to a great coffee shop. I didn’t find there was much of a social atmosphere and there aren’t staff around - you need to contact them via text/phone. Just FYI there is no pool, I think that’s an old pic. The place could use a little TLC (eg wonky curtain rail, there were no labels for food bags). Good enough as a budget place to stay and explore Darwin.

Loved the friendly social atmosphere here - very easy to meet people and lots of good common areas. Two kitchens made it easy to cook here, never had to wait for a bathroom and owner quickly available on WhatsApp for anything. Good location for exploring Darwin too.

I liked this hostel as it has a good and friendly vibe. I missed not having a pool and being a little further away from the Esplanande. The mattress was not great.

Stayed here for 1 week staff were amazing, food was so good aswell if you staying in canggu highly recommended and is only 5 minutes grab away from the main strip!!

The vibe was really chill but still social which I enjoyed. The room was so dirty though, and wasn’t cleaned properly by the staff when they had daily cleaning. There were old makeup wipes from the last person who slept in my bed, on the floor for four days, and old sodabottles from people who weren’t in the dorm any longer for my whole stay. The cleaning staff wasn’t friendly. And they were the only staff I met. Other than that I felt safe and had fun with the people I met there.

I loved the hostel! The atmosphere was really comfortable and family-like. The staff was super nice and helped us a lot with recommendations for Darwin and a daytrip we did. Thank you!! I would highly recommend staying there when in Darwin :)
