Ren Hostel

Genuinely the most disgusting place I've stayed in SEA. The entire place smells rancid, and somehow the stench got worse across 2 days. Mold everywhere. 1 bathroom for 2 dorms, located inside of the other dorm. Bedsheets felt really dirty. No sink in the toilet, and a sign saying 'Do Not Use' under the only tap. Owner was rude and insulting to me and other guests. No lockers, and CCTV in the dorm which felt really creepy. Nobody was there to check me in for 30 minutes when I arrived.

I would not recommend this hostel to any female travelers! It felt like a shared apartment of some guys that we randomly joined. The hostel was not clean, especially the bathroom. On Hostelworld it says that it includes breakfast, however that was not the case. The one volunteer, was nice and helpful, but the owner never showed up. In the morning it got very loud, since there was construction right outside. During one night of our stay we got woken up by fighting happening downstairs.

Terrible hostel! Dirty, rats and cockroaches. Showers & lights not working. No one there to handle checkins and checkouts. Guests are doing it! People double booked and have to stay elsewhere! Owner tried to charge me for making a salad in the kitchen and then charge me more than agreed for my stay. I had to show him the booking confirmation! Owner, too much partying then sleeping all day, not looking after the hostel Chaotic, drunk long term guests and A VERY POORLY RUN HOSTEL!.

GREAT value for money. Lovely little balcony off my room. It’s hard to find - it’s down a sketchy alleyway and google maps was useless at finding it. I went down three different streets to find it. Location is great other than that - just off the main strip. Ren was lovely but there was a funeral right outside so woke up at 7am to trumpets right outside and then karaoke until 2am. I also got bed bug bites here which were horrifically itchy. Very worth it but only if you’re on a budget.

Literally is someone’s house made into a hostel, down a dark alley just off the main walking street. It does the job.

We absolutely loved staying here, quite cozy and Josh (“crazy Swiss guy”), the host is an amazing guy, really makes you feel welcome. It’s off on a side alley really close to all the good spots in the city and for the price it is an absolute gem. I will definitely be recommending this hostel to everyone I know!

Only One Thing to say Mr Charlie is best and so so friendly. Thanks Brother for such a warm hospitality.

Perfectly located but quiet to enjoy a good night sleep, this hostel was super chill. The owners went above and beyond to make the guests happy.

Really good hostel.

Staying at Ren Hostel was a dream! Spotlessly clean with top-notch security yet 24-hour access. It’s perfectly located, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, creating a vibrant social atmosphere. The facilities are fantastic—big TV, cozy sofa, and a beautifully designed space with two bathrooms per floor. It's the perfect home-away-from-home vibe, delivering 1000% value for money. Highly recommend for those seeking a delightful, budget-friendly retreat with all the comforts!

Great hostel! The host Ren is so nice and helpful, the most amazing hostess. Its a very cozy vibe, you basicly live in Ren’s apartment which gives a home vibe, especially when Ren treats you like family. Its small but its cozy. Right by the bar street, but you can’t hear it at all and its close by everything really. Great place to stay!
