Backpackers hostels -Ximen

Im not one for bad reviews but this place was pretty shocking, the wifi didnt work in my room at all so my data got absolutely drained and also the bathroom was very dirty and if that wasnt bad enough the shower-head was broken so it kept popping off. Not great

Extremely small rooms with nowhere to store your luggage. Bags are strewn across the floor making the already small rooms even smaller and forcing you to basically step on peoples belongings. Duvet was yellow under sheet. And pillow was so old it was basically flat. Also gave me a nasty blocked nose so I’m assuming it was also dirty. Common room and hallways stink of petrol fumes so badly it hurt my nose and made me dizzy. Also rooms are freezing in the winter.

Booked 2 twin beds. Given 4 bunk bed.

Most of the rooms are to the road side the motorcycles sound in the evening is horrible, the first night I couldn’t sleep at all…! Glad the next day the staff was willing to move to the otherwise of the rooms, which is better facing the ally less noise. However I got two very weird local travelers. One rudely just call you “Wei, downstairs, without saying further things”, the other one keeps asking you - how many times you’ve been Taiwan do you have other recommendations what if staff ...

i asked to change the reservation with more than a week in advance and they didn't accept it (it had happened many other times in rooms that don't allow for returns and 90% of the times it's ok if it's enough in advance)

Very mediocre hostel, you can do a lot better at this price point in the area.

Pricey for what you get

Good place, but pricey for what it gives. Beds are fine, but they didn’t fit me (around 1.8m) so if you’re taller I’d keep that in mind. Shower is good and you get your privacy with curtains. The location is great, you’re near everything and lots of good food nearby

Slecht hostel, in de ene kamer werkt de airco niet, in de ander stinkt het enorm naar bier en de sfeer is alles behalve sociaal. Het is een enorme herrie in de kamer door de weg die ernaast ligt, hierdoor kun je niet slapen. Ook is er een trillend geluid te horen en voelen als je in bed ligt waardoor je de volgende dag met hoofdpijn wakker word. Dat het nog een 5.4 heeft is puur doordat de locatie wel oké is!

Enjoyed my stay there. The location is convenient. The only down side is that the dorms are a little bit small, can be a bit hard to move around with luggage on the floor. Apart from that, great !

nice place, good location in nice area of Taipei. only complaint is mattress quite thin.

Its pretty good, its just that the staff might not be always there at midnight.

Pricey for what you get

Good Hostel in general, really good location, really close to the Ximen metro and the Ximen night markets. Really enjoyed my time there. Unfortunately there is no space to lock your belongings. Recommended for like 2-3 nights

Only for sleeping, not social at all, not really a common area, staff not very helpful, they come clean the room at 09:00, very unpersonal, would recommend to stay somewhere else around Ximen, met some people from other Hostels that were way better

I enjoyed my stay! Nice staff and great common room. Nice area, but a bit away from the metro station.

Amazing location in Ximen. Cozy rooms with curtains and lights. Checked in at 11pm and the staff gave great instructions to check myself in

Good points: great location. Friendly and helpful staff. Bad points: awful WiFi. Mould and unclean walls in bedroom. Bathroom floor stays wet. Bedding is yellow. They also let people check into shared dorms at all hours of the night. Cleaners sometimes come in super early. You need to pay for washing machines.
