Casa Mutante

Estuve hospedada por una hora y no pude permanecer más tiempo, pues el olor de la habitación, las sábanas estaban usadas y sin lavar, el colchón tenía tela de arañas en los extremos y restos de bichos. Grabé un video al respecto. Ha sido un muy mal momento, y lamentablemente ya había pagado todo el hospedaje. No quisieron devolverme mi dinero. No sé cómo pueden haber lugares así que se ofrecen a la gente, no esperaba lujo pero sí un lugar limpio y seguro.

Where to start? Probably the beginning. The place is nearly unmarked: there’s a small sticker, somewhat rubbed off, that is stuck on the door to the hostel. The guy at the pub next door had to tell me I was at the right place. Check-in is at 3pm, and not a moment sooner, even with three staff persons sitting around. One of those staff people cleans horizontal surfaces about once per day, but the place needs deep cleaning once in a while that it’s not getting. There are two bathrooms, neither...

Leider sehr ungemütliches Hostel, die Küche ist super schlecht ausgestattet, zudem gab es kaum Sitzmöglichkeiten, um in Ruhe zu essen. Das Personal kümmert sich wenig. Es gab meist kein Klopapier und auch sonst sehr triste Stimmung im Hostel.

Estávamos em viagem por 3 países, quando chegamos ao Uruguay fomos direto ao hostel, a princípio tudo ok, as meninas que atendem, falta um pouco de atenção o rapaz que cuida o Matheus e atencioso, mais as meninas em geral, são muito perdidas, precisamos pedir toalhas pois não há no quarto quando se chega!! Os banheiros são até bons, mais poderia ter um chuveiro mesmo, pois é uma ducha ! Pelo preço está ok! Só pediria mais atenção com os visitantes!

He would also come into the female dorm without knocking or waiting for someone to say it was ok to come in. 3 female staff worked here, none of them ever came in. He also walked into the room when I was changing then proceeded to yell at me saying he knocked when he didn’t. I asked another staff to turn the air on in our room, and she never came or helped us. don’t ...

Ok for one night. Only two bathrooms which also had showers so had to wait forever just to use the toilet. Also no soap in the bathrooms.

Cheap, but very Small and bad facilities.

Ambiente é bom, organizado e limpo, porém fica em cima de um bar/restaurante que fez barulho até 3h da manhã, foi muito dificil dormir

Lovely little hostel - nice vibe to the building but much smaller than I expected and very little socialising space. No sign outside the building at all though so make sure you're confident that you know where you're going. Also fairly relentless bassy electro beat music playing in one of the seating areas...

Looks so lovely! Nice location and clean bathrooms; living area + beds weren't super comfy, but still happy

The hostel had a really nice atmosphere, where you from the beginning felt like home. The building is charming, and the rooftop amazing too. We were greeted by the most welcoming people, and were invited to the bbq night, which they do almost every night. They are good with recommendations for the city.

Entspanntes Hostel mit guter atmosphäre!

Die Unterkunft ist in einem industrial Style, durch das achten auf die Hausnummer außen lässt sie sich finden, ansonsten weist kein Schild auf sie hin. Sie besitzt 2 Bäder und 2 Klos, sowie eine provisorische Dachterasse. Die Zimmer lassen sich leider nicht abschließen und die Spinde sind für einen Reiserucksack zu klein. Leider wenig Plätze zum aufhalten vorhanden, ansonsten ist die Unterkunft gut gelegen.

I had a wonderful multi-night stay in Montevideo at Casa Mutante. The workers were so friendly and helpful. The owner, Mateus, had a great energy and made it such a comfortable stay. It's a great location as well, only about a 10-minute walk to the beach and close to a lot of cafés. The rooms also had A/C at night!

Overall it is a fine hostel, but some stuff feels dated and the service is meh. When I arrived to check in I had to wait for 10 minutes outside despite ringing the bell. They have nice spaces to chill though

Charming hostel in a falling-apart kind of way. The beds were okay, pillow very flat. Kitchen is under-supplied with dishes/pans, but you can make it work. The great part was the good atmosphere with other travelers who wanted to do things together.

There are hardly any electrical outlets to charge devices and my bed was ok. The staff were super nice though, and the hostel itself is charming.

Very small hostel in a beautiful building. The AC didn’t really work while we were there but there was a fan in the room which helped a lot. Good location.

Great place to stay, confortable beds and clean sheets. They have a mini bar where you can buy coke and beer, a laundry machine and a bicycle available for rent. You can cook your own meal in the kitchen and store it in the fridge, the fridge is small and can easily get overcrowded, but nothing you can't handle.

Very cosy and family vibes hostel. The hostel is very social and the staff (owner and volunteers) is very friendly. The building is beautiful. Also the location is great!

A underrated place in Montevideo. Very social vibes there. The house is beautiful and the staff very welcoming and friendly. I recommend
