after having read the reviews I was very scared to come here but after my 3 night stay I can gladly say I didn't encounter any bedbugs etc. , everything seemed very clean and the rooms were more spacious than I expected, staff was friendly and helpful and the metro is right outside and connects directly to HND and NRT

The staff are all so kind and great, the gym is good enough and the locals come in to use the gym so it’s a great way to meet locals. However, even though I love this hostel a lot I have to say that I have come home with rashes all up my arms, back and legs in lines :/ . Yes BED BUGS, it is very itchy and painful and I wish I didn’t stay here due to that. Be aware of the BED BUGS.

The room is VERY small and cramped for having 20-something beds. You will constantly be squeezing out of peoples’ way. I decided to extend my stay for a day or two and tried to book it at the front desk and they would not match the same price as booking.com- they were charging quite a bit more. So I went to Ace Inn Hostel and have enjoyed it much more so far- better location and room at a lower price than Obi, plus they even gave me a price cheaper than Booking.com’s. When I packed my things and decided to check out, I found what appeared to be a dead bed bug in my bed. I took a photo and showed the staff so hopefully they are cleaning extra good but that stuff really makes me nervous with a hostel that has 20-something people in one room 🤢

I only checked reviews when I'd booked and was already there. I saw comments complaining about bed bugs and then responses that it had been taken care of. I got paranoid and started looking around my cubicle, and immediately found bed bugs were still there. it's a shame but it needs to be taken care of. I also did book into the room, but having a room with over 20 people is just a bit too much . no space, loud at night and hard to sleep

The place has a bed bug problem and should not be open until they fix it.

Bed bugs.... so even though the facility is much nicer, it should not be taking guests until they resolve thier problem.

BEDBUGS & BAD HANDLING EXPERIENCES Gave me a used bed when I check in, after half hour of HUUUHAAA they got me a new bed. but, I woke up finding 10 fingers UNCOUNTABLE BEDBUGS crawling around. You’ll find baby bedbugs and adult bedbugs. Property refused to take up full responsibility by giving unreasonable excuse. AVOID AT ALL COST! BAD CLEANLINESS ISSUE! You pay cheap accommodation fees but you end up paying more on the damages done by the bedbugs from their hostel. Medical fees, disposal fees, cleaning fees, emotional stress from itchiness! After raising the issue to property and they don’t care at all. Their bedbugs review are all over google, just google Bedbugs Obi Hostel you will find them. My bad for not doing research properly before booking with them. Bedbugs from April 2023 to October 2023 and they still do not rectify the cleanliness issue. I hope no other victims fall on this! I’ve tried other hostels - Graphy Nezu & Base Inn hostels and they both provide superb service. I will recommend whoever wanted to book a hostels in Tokyo AVOID OBI HOSTEL and go for the others!

They have bed bugs and knew it already for a whole month. Still, let guests sleep in an infested dorm and then just give the money back. This must have been illegal. My whole body is full of disgusting bites because of this hostel

DO NOT STAY HERE! Bed bugs will ruin your vacation! Good location and nice staff but not worth it! Apparently this is an ongoing thing that has affected several people.

got a lot of bedbug bites. they didn’t changed my bed for 3 consecutive nights. accidentally locked my locker coz i didn’t mind changing it from the first night but i couldn’t find a staff in the morning at the lobby.

BEDBUGS on 5th Floor dorm. 4th Floor and below dorms are FREE of BEDBUGS. Staff is working HARD to get rid of BEDBUGS on the 5th but 4 of us moved from 5th to 4th to escape these voracious Blood-Suckers which are visible and a light brown color as opposed to the MICROSCOPIC VARIETY which we have in North America and Mexico. I killed 10 Bedbugs in my Pod. ALL GOOD after I moved 1 Floor down. They spray but apparently the staff needs a STRONGER INSECTICIDE. My only other complaint was that the OBI HOSTEL is also a GYM and a RESTAURANT w/ limited tables. What this means is that UNLIKE MOST EURO, North American, Central American, South American HOSTELS there is very limited SPACE for the Guests. We nomads need SPACE but the RESTAURANT CUSTOMERS take PRIORITY over the HOSTEL GUESTS so the ONLY TIME a Guest had "sit-down internet access" at a TABLE was when OUTSIDE RESTAURANT GUESTS were not there for LUNCH or DINNER. One Solution is to BUY a MEAL and "rent" one of the 7-8 tables, eat and do your INTERNET WORK. Only other solution is find another WI-FI spot or lay on ur BELLY in your Sleeping Pod and do your NOMAD COMPUTER WORK. My overall score is a B- with top score being A+++. NOT BAD...Good for 1-2 nights, fyi.

Que tenían chinches, en una solo noche me picaron mucho y mate como unas 20 chinches

La ubicación es muy muy buena, el personal es muy amable y atento pero, las instalaciones dejan mucho qué desear, las camas son tipo capsula de buen tamaño pero hace mucho calor por eso nunca apagan el aire, tampoco apagan la luz, es algo molesto y la limpieza de las camas no es la mejor, encontramos cabellos y las sábanas sucias pero lo peor fue qué nos picaron chinches y personalmente maté a una. No hay área común como tal y no hay refrigerador u horno, lo normal en un hostal. La parte de abajo es restaurante y no lo puedes usar en horario laboral a menos que consumas ahí. Soy biólogo se que lo de las chinches es algo normal en un lugar con tanta rotación de inquilinos pero por lo mismo se debería de aplicar un tratamiento entotherm periódicamente.

I stayed at Obi Hostel a week ago. I stayed there only for one night in the 5th floor hostel room, and the next day morning i discovered multiple BEDBUGS on my sheets and on the wooden walls, and they were full of blood!!!! The next day I developed a serious allergic reaction in my skin and am still suffering after a week. I'm surprised that there are no other reviews mentioning this issue. I contacted the hostel and they were nice enough to take responsibility regarding this matter. So my advise is, if you're planning to stay here anytime soon, better check with the hostel staff whether this issue is resolved or not!! I have nothing against the facility but It would be wrong to put other travellers at risk which is why i decided to mention this in a review. Apart from my bad experience i think its an otherwise good budget option for a stay in Tokyo. The location is super convenient, and the staff was quite helpful.

BED BUGS. got bitten all over within couple of hours of getting into bed, 503. A neighbor also had them.

I found bed bugs crawling around when I woke up :(. I alerted staff and they said they would have it sprayed. The beds themselves are not that comfortable and it's very stuffy in the boxes making it harder to breathe and therefore sleep.

There are many bedbug . I get many rash all over the Body from it . I talked it staff . They did not tell me . Nothing sorry . Nothing care for my body . Just say this is bedbug . Don’t stay here anymore .

I was bitten by bed BUGS. First night I was tired and didn’t notice. Second night I couldn’t fall asleep and felt bites but didn’t pay attention. In the morning I saw BUGS in the bed. And then I saw whole my body was bitten. I left the property and they returned money for the last night that I was supposed to stay. Now, a week later after stay these bites looks even worse than on the photo. And it is itching:((I cannot wear crop tops cause it’s looks like I have some disease😭

Regrettably, bunk 606 in the hotel I stayed at was infested with large bed bugs, forcing me to seek a clean alternative accommodation at 11:45 pm. This experience was highly disappointing as it necessitated repacking and finding another hotel. I recorded a video as evidence and promptly shared it with the staff before leaving that very night, as I couldn't bear the thought of staying in a bed bug-infested room. Despite being assured of a refund, I have yet to receive it even after two weeks have passed. The customer service I encountered could have been significantly better, with alternative options presented considering the inconvenience caused. I sincerely hope that comprehensive disinfection measures will be implemented to eradicate all bed bugs from the premises.

Only down side was that I got bitten by bedbugs TT_TT
