Bed in Valletta

This place is disgusting. There were bed bugs. Myself and my roommates all received bed bug bites that were very different from mosquito bites. The owner does not live here and probably has never visited physically in person. They hire “cleaners” who just replace the bed linen and pillowcases but never actually clean the bathroom, shower, kitchen, sinks, trashcans, floors. It’s so dirty there are dead/alive cockroaches everywhere. There is dust, spider webs, food crumbs, poop stains, everywhere.

Got bed bugs. Was worried about getting locked out because there is one key for all of the building, expressed that to the host and was disregarded entirely. Got locked out at 12 AM. Towels were old and smelt bad. Room not clean. Host was nice and gave good recommendations and helped when someone locked us out, but these issues can be avoided entirely. Don’t stay unless you want bed bugs.

Filthiest and worst hostel I’ve ever stayed in. Massive bed bug infestation that the owner refuses to acknowledge, I showed him pictures and videos and he is incredibly misinformed on bed bugs (said they’re not bed bugs because they are too small to be seen, which is not true). Then he tried to tell me it was just ticks. Which it was not, and even if they were, still not great. Das einzig gute an der Unterkunft war die Lage. Haltet euch fern von diesem Zimmer. Es gab Bettwanzen, die uns in der Nacht am ganzen Körper gebissen haben. Die Bisse sind nach fast 2 Wochen noch immer deutlich sichtbar, jucken und tun weh. Die Besitzer streiten alles ab und wollen kein Geld zurückerstattet, obwohl wir Fotos von den Bettwanzen und den Bissen gemacht haben. Definitiv nicht zu empfehlen, da die Besitzer auch nichts gegen die Bettwanzen machen wollen. Bucht wo anders!

Not recommended for solo female travellers as the hostel is just one 3-bed dorm with no reception or staff on site. I felt really unsafe but was lucky the people in my room were nice. There’s a window in the shower so anyone can look at you. Whole bathroom smells of mould. Mosquitoes & bedbugs made it really hard to sleep. Tea & coffee facilities were advertised but kettle is broken. Staff were friendly but disorganised with collecting payment. Great location!!
