Worst hostel I've ever stayed in and I've stayed in over 100 in 20 countries. Rooms don't have windows and are very stuffy and smelly damp/mouldy. No words for the kitchen other than insanely crowded and disgusting. There is an online booking system. We didn't see any staff during our stay because it is self check in which also means people don't follow the rules or quiet time. Everyone seemed to be living there long term and the rooms were so cluttered you could barely walk in. Don't stay there
Worst place I have been. Toilet and shower were dirty and the rooms were very messy (due to people who stay there for long). The rooms have ‘windows ‘ (it is an opening to the main hallway so you hear everything that happens on the hallway). Even though it is the cheapest option, please dont do this to yourself.
Le pire hostel dans lequel j’ai dormi en Australie. Il y a beaucoup de long-term, on a donc plus l’impression de louer un lit chez l’habitant-e (qui au passage croit qu’il/elle est seul-e dans la chambre quand il/elle se réveille pour aller travailler à 6h) que d’être dans une auberge de jeunesse. En plus rien n’est propre, et clairement il y n’y aucun espace inoccupé. Si vous pensez que faire une étape à Townsville avant d’aller sur Magnectic Island est une bonne idée, ...
The worst hostel I've ever slept in Australia. there are a lot of long-term ones, so you get a better impression of renting a bed from the inhabitant (who by the way believes he/she is alone in the room when he/she wakes up to go to work at 6am) than being in a hostel. plus nothing is clean, and clearly there are no vacant spaces. if you think that making a stop in Townsville before going to Magnectic Island is a good idea, change your plans.

100% don't recommend. The bathrooms are pretty much public, anyone can go there. Therfore they're gross. The people that wa saying at the moment liked to party so there was a lot of noise until 3AM. The kitchen is dirty and packed with stuff. Rooms are not too far from that either. At least they refunded me half of what I had paid.
Not clean at all, kitchen is disgusting and the beds as well! But the staff is very kind
The kitchen, bathroom and our dorm were really dirty when we arrived. In our dorm the fan and the carpet looked like they haven't been cleaned for months. We didn't feel comfortable and wouldn't stay there again.
Hate this hostel oh my god it pissed me off. First off there was no staff the entire time I was there. I got checked into the place via an email and typing in codes on different door handles. When I got to my room I was stunned to say the least. Dirty clothes and takeout containers everywhere. The room smelled like a wet dog, genuinely. Both the aircon and ceiling fan were broken so it felt like 38 degrees in the room. The kitchen was so dirty. Nobody cleans up after themselves. Stay far away!
No shaff work on site and you are meant to complete self check in. I was never sent check in details and given no staff, I called emergency number multiple times to no pickups, which left me completely stranded to the point that I had to book another hotel on the spot, costing me $120. The worst experience I have encountered - DO NOT BOOK under any circumstances.
Hostel was filthy, bed uncomfortable. awful stay. just spend the extra money and go somewhere else! no staff anywhere. the bathrooms were a state. just awful don’t recommend

Great stay. Good people and great location
Myself and my friend stayed in Seaside Lodge for a week and we found it to be a great place to get started in Townsville for regional work! It’s also a be a great place for a short stay! The staff are very friendly and helpful, Brendan helped us sort out our next booking.
Zum Glück waren wir hier nur eine Nacht, dafür war es okay, länger jedoch nicht. Wir hatten ein Einzelzimmer, dieses sah jedoch aus wie eine Gefängnis Zelle. Ein einzelnes Bett in einem zu großen raus, total ungemütlich. Das Fenster hätte man auch sein lassen können es führte in einen stinkenden Tunnel. Die Küche war okay, die Badezimmer auch inordnung. Es gibt fast nur Long Term Gäste, weshalb man als kurz Reisender schwer Anschluss findet. Für eine Nacht okay, aber nicht länger.
Luckily we were only here one night, for that it was okay, but no longer. We had a single room, but this one looked like a prison cell. A single bed in a too big room, totally uncomfortable. The window could have been left open too it led into a stinking tunnel. The kitchen was okay, the bathroom was in order too. There are almost only Long Term Guests, so it's hard to find a connection as a short-term traveler. For one night okay, but no longer.
Very weird check in process, didn’t see any staff the whole time I was there. Very weird layout and hard to navigate when you’re not shown/told about the location of simple things like toilets. Bed was comfy, but my room clearly had people staying for extended periods as the floor was full of personal belongings and all areas of storage labelled for my bed were full of other people’s stuff. Wouldn’t stay here again as it had a super weird vibe.

I loved the female only area and the location close to the beach and coles right next to it! Also very clean hostel and very nice living room area and in general such good atmosphere, will come back thx

Alright just for a night
So noisy. All the noise enters the rooms. They said it’s not allowed to make noise but there is literally no staff to enforce it. No electricity near the bed. Only at the center of the room. The upper beds make unbearable noise so you can’t move even a bit. Not enough showers for so many guests. Reception is closed before 9am and after 4pm, and they also don’t work on the weekends so don’t expect to find them when you need. Nobody was there when I needed to check in and out.
The people were awesome! The owners seem lowkey rude, but no-one really lets that get in their way (which is good imo) Just all in all a nice home for many people, kinda rundown place tho....
I liked the privacy curtains on the beds. However, I found that there could have been more toilets and bathrooms. Overall good experience

Verwacht niet te veel. Bed was niet verschoond bij incheck. Kamer was alles behalve schoon. Bed was vreselijk. Alleen maar longtermers.
The bed was not changed at check-in. the room was anything but clean. the bed was terrible. only longtermers.
Top locatie in Townsville! De host is super behulpzaam en is snel via e-mail te bereiken. Het hostel wordt “overgenomen” door de longstays. De kamer zijn (daardoor) enorm rommelig en vies. Er wordt dagelijks schoongemaakt in de gedeelde ruimtes maar niet grondig. Pleister bijvoorbeeld liggen er drie dagen op de grond. Het is waar voor je geld, maar niet meer dan dat.
Top location in Townsville! The host is super helpful and is quick to reach via e-mail. The hostel is overtaken by the longstays. The rooms are (as a result) enormously messy and dirty. The shared spaces are cleaned daily but not thoroughly. The plaster for example lies on the ground for three days. This is true for your money, but not more than that.
