This hostel is not worth the money: the women's showers dont work and flood regularly, the rooms smell strange, the dining halls are dirty the "free breakfast" is really meagre (don't even have proper coffee) additionally, we had a really strange night receptionist who made us uncomfortable people were sleeping in the bathrooms at night and it was super crowded and often quite loud find a different hoatel, this one is not worth it

Horrendous experience, they charged 17 pounds on my card for no reason and when i reached out they said its staff mistake and dint refund me, they are fraud and loots to steal your money

In one word Horrific Dirty Dirt engrained on literally everything; poor facilities sinks that block , broken toilet locks , beds like sleeping on hard plastic with dirty sheets , broken power points by bed , mixed bathrooms with doors wide open Free breakfast advertised misleading ticket i learnt for first 30 only Upon arrival £10 room key charge Staff were polite but didn’t fully register the how bad this place is Decaying facilities -wierd smell of mildew Bed bugs on bed got bitten

Crowded room with luggage. Garden noisy with Guests and Staff, shouting. Security poor as they didn’t check any I.D. Key deposit on my card my Bank said takes 5-7 working days to show up on my account, Interest robbery. Immediately paid on arrival. Check in was unwelcoming. Don’t fall for their advertising Free Dinner, there is a Monopoly here. Dinner List always and everyday full by 9.30 am. Don’t believe their hype!

Female bathroom has water all over the floor. Super hot in bedrooms (common areas are cool). No fan or air conditioning.

Traumatizing. Booked 3 nights and opted to stay 2 and sleep at the airport the last night. Staff was rude and charged me twice, then handled the refund poorly, patronizing me. Weird crowd overall, much older, saw a furry and a woman who looked like she wasn’t wearing pants in the living room area. Shared bathrooms were gross, and we saw huge poop on the toilet seat once. Overall facilities are old and dirty, I felt like I was going to get bedbugs and didn’t feel safe.

very old bed linen, the room was very cold and there was a smell of paint, the noise from the top floor as people walking was heard as if they were walking overhead. spoke about problems at the reception but they did not take any action

Booked in for 3 nights but left after 1, the staff did not even bother to ask why we checked out 2 days early and offered no compensation. The bathroom facilities were the worst I’ve seen. Only boiling water from the bathroom sinks, mould growing in the tops of the showers which also have broken doors that swing into you when showering. Most toilets were either damaged, blocked or dirty. The vibe of the hostel was also very uncomfortable. Staff checked people into our room at 7am.

By far one of the worst hostels I’ve stayed at, first of all there are no lockers available, wifi services don’t work, bathroom are disgusting, looks like they veneer cleaned it, sink are even worst, hairs everywhere, the water is only hot, it’s a pain in the ass to wash your hands or to brush your teeth. Staff lied to us saying that they would put lockers the next day. I wouldn’t recommend this hostel to anyone, on top of that the price is ridiculously expensive for the trash that it is

I’m leaving this feedback with the expectation of improvement, as the hostel has great potential. The location is excellent, very close to the metro with easy access to the whole city. However, the rooms are cramped and the mattresses are quite uncomfortable. The common areas are nice and bathrooms are usually clean, although being shared doesn’t always provide the best experience. In room 23, a guest with unusual behavior made the environment uncomfortable.

lovley breakfast and dinner options however beds were not the best and had no outlet near my bed meaning i could not charge my phone. had some issues with other travellers and the place was pretty loud. bathrooms were a little dirty. location was great tho.

The vibe at the hostel was great! Lots of activities, the free breakfast and dinner was awesome, and very well located. One thing to note is that there are a lot of people living (and working) there. Most are fab, but there are some people that blend the line of professionalism e.g drinking while working, hitting on guests, etc. Would still absolutely recommend, but I know some people don’t like hostels that have lots of permanent residents, so worth mentioning :)

The staff was nice, Im sure they did their best! but the people in this hostel are strange and the hostel itself had seen better days - its worth the money (cheap), but i will never comeback and will not reccomend to my friends as i know them. The place will swuit a hippy style person, who doesnt care about the higiene,smell, mess and the lack of space in the rooms or coridors. We are all different people after all. Not bad people but creepy place to remember :))

I DO NOT recommend staying as a young traveler. Despite it's central location, there are lots of creepy older men who hang around and are long term residents. I really did feel unsafe in the facilities and constantly on edge. In terms of cleanness it was pretty decent and same go with friendlies of staff.

Unfreandly stuff today in the very early morning, food was mostly terrible, unhygienic plates and cups, we all had stomach ache and my sun had vomiting twice. Very strange people lingering around - probably so called long time guests. Facilities were clean and it was quiet at night. And the location of hostel is really great.

Staff communication was really poor. We tried to call 4 times the day before we arrived, at different times of the day, emailed too, and no response. The communication around the free dinner was also poor. Beds smelt funny, squeaked every time you moved at all, bathrooms were always super wet, cleaning would happen at inconvenient times during the day (and the lady was rude about it too). Wouldn’t stay here again.

Staff was super nice, bed was comfortable, free brekky and dinner too. They had events going on and big common areas, but the general crowd staying there was definitely much older (obviously not an issue, just something to note if you’re looking for a place to meet other young people)

We did not enjoy our stay at St James. Our private room had little shelving, and an uneven floor. Carpets weren’t cleaned after arrival and became filthy, and the bathroom stayed flooded with urine for days. Staff refused a simple request at breakfast, towels cost and exorbitant £5, and there are passive-aggressive signs all over treating guests with contempt. A staff member joked about kicking a cat, if we weren't there we think he would have done it. Bad vibes at St James.

Staff is friendly, shower is hot, bed is comfy; what more can you ask from a hostel? I'll be back.

Do not permit men to hit on women. Use real butter. Otherwise good. The crowd varies; beware it is an unmanaged feild, not a garden in the hostel world, though no one is dangerous.

The hostel was great. The entire staff including Kevin and Simon were always there and accommodating. There were nightly events and everyone was always kind and friendly. Rooms were also clean. Really did feel like a home at times and I extended my stay multiple times when in the hostel. Great place, cannot recommend enough especially if you are looking to watch a Chelsea match at Stamford Bridge. I’ll likely stay in this hostel again when visiting London. Highly recommend you staying here.

This place is amazing, I've became good friends with Kevin his food is great even though he is Irish 🤣

A lot of weird people in the rooms who didn’t take care of themselves. Mess in rooms and bathrooms. I wouldn’t come back

O hostel tem uma boa localização, mas pelo menos no quarto que eu fiquei, não tinha tomada para carregar o celular em todas as camas, na beliche que eu fiquei só tinha 1 tomada, não tem lanterna nas camas, então quem chega a noite acaba acendendo a luz, o chuveiro não esquentava a água e eu não entendi porque o rapaz da recepção entrava no quarto quando ia levar alguma hóspede, porque se é um quarto de mulheres, homem não deveria entrar.
