It’s not like the way the has ratings of the property

We had expected a great stay given the other reviews however I do not think the reviews are real. It was a s***. The pictures do not match the reality of the property; it is run down, dirty and smells terrible. We had booked a private room and the smell when we entered was gross and the sheets had small hairs all over. It was not clean. The rooftop looks nothing like the pictures, it’s rundown and dirty. I would not recommend staying here. Very empty hostel, no vibe.

What is shown in pictures and what is in reality is not same. The room was not very clean and maintained properly. Smallest things like lights were not working in the room. And the staff didn't help with it.

I have booked 'Superior 4 Bed Mixed Dorm Ensuite'. The washroom was in another floor and the property calls it an ensuite. The location is not accessible by a cab. Was not very clean.

price is way higher then the other hostels and overall All Good

The property was okish, not that fascinating, view is okish and not that hygienic, people were good though, the night manager was asking for the double charge then the one on the web site.

The hostlel located at a good location but they don’t have washroom in basic dormatry and they should mention this too. They were saying that please use common room washroom and it was like 3rd class washroom no tiles and not good at all so I don’t like their washrooms facility

Good staff also a good location. The dorm rooms are okaish they could improve the switch boards broken and wires near the bed. Some walls are not great and the bathroom wall is partially broken. A minor fix will make the hostel great for the stay.

Had a great time at the hostel. Samar at the front desk was an incredible host, giving me all the help I needed. It is in walking distance to pretty much everything. They also organise daily activies like trips to the border which is so helpful for solo travellers. I had a great experience and would stay again but it may have been the hardest mattress I have ever slept on. Please get some softer mattresses for the private rooms lads!

Good location for the Golden Temple. They ran a god tour to the Waga border for the ceremony. Cleanliness is terrible and the food facilities in particular are atrocious. Dorm was ok but bathroom very dirty and run down. Staff seemed friendly enough.

Had a very quick but enjoyable stay here. The reception staff are helpful and the reception is manned all night - really handy for those late bus arrivals. I did not catch the names of the reception staff as I was only there for a day but Vicky, the tour guide operator, was fantastic. Vicky is a warm hearted and quick witted family man. Old school hospitality with good local knowledge, observations about Indian history and politics delivered with a cheeky sense of humour.

Legendary hosel, kind people from all over the world and polite and funny members of staff who work around the clock to help you, especially Vicki!!! If he offers you a tour take it you will not regret it, they’re affordable and he provides the best entertainment and comedy, I’d even go as far to say he is my personal favourite Indian, he even gave me a lift to the airport which he didn’t have to do, for an affordable rate better than other tuk tuk drivers.

Amazing stay. Clean and tidy with joyful atmosphere on rooftop and playing area. Helpful and kind staff. All the necessary facilities like water, AC, clean bed were there. Watching cricket on projector was bang on experience. Very near to Golden temple made it easy to access it both at day and night darshan.

Lovely staff! The chef made delicious food every night and took us out to get some delicious local streetfood. Vicky is also a great guy, really recommend going on the border tour with him! Very interesting and you will definitely have a good laugh!

great hostel, well located. Staff is very helpful and nice! Bed have curtains and lockers in the room. free water available which is much appreciated. the terrace is great to chill with a view on Amritsar! I'd recommend staying there !

I had a great stay here. Very warm and helpful staff. Facilities were great - working hot water, clean dorms and bathrooms, curtains and large lockers in dorms. Highly recommend Vicky’s tour to the Pakistan border.

Met v nice people as my fellow travellers, along with our tuk tuk driver Vicky who took us to border -- will recommend! the cafeteria also had good food!!

Great location, within walking distance of everything you could wish to see. Friendly staff and Vicky was a great guide for the Wagah Border celebration!

Hostel is clean, good location to the main sights and I recommend doing the Pakistan border tour through the hostel because Vicky the driver is hilarious and knowledgeable.

Honestly was very sad to leave this place! Incredible vibe, good clean room, great staff and fun people. Vickys tour to the border was amazing- i would highly recommend!!

Clean dormitory room with large beds and big lockers available. The common area is also great to work or just take a tea. Special mention to the great staff, super helpful and flexible to facilitate your trip (early check-in, possibility to leave luggage after check out). And they offer trips to the India-Pakistan border show at the best rates, with Vicky being a nice guide. A perfect base to visit Amritsar !

Great hostel with lovely clean rooms, good atmosphere and a fantastic rooftop to socialise, close to the golden temple and lots of good food options nearby. Vikki and the border tour are an absolute must do, we enjoyed our time with him more than the border ceremony itself!

Great to be back in a backpackers hostel! Madpackers Amritsar is doing an amazing job - everything's reasonable and super supportive. The tuk tuk ride to Wagah Border with fellow travellers was fun, mainly thanks to Vicky, the driver 😄 (he's quite the entertainer, though maybe a bit too loud at times!). Hotel staff are super helpful, and their cafe's a great spot to meet fellow travellers and hear some awesome stories. Highly recommended!

Had a really great stay and all the places are just a short walk away. They do arrange a trip to Atari border and it was seamless too.

Incredible stay at Madpackers, we felt extremely welcomed and at home in the space here! The staff provided such brilliant opportunities to engage with the community. We went to a wedding with Vicky from the hostel which was a beautiful experience. Thank you so much for everything!

This was my first trip to india, and first stop. I've got to say that it was a great way to start. The location is hidden off the main streets but it is still within the old city and most of the tourist attractions are within walking distance.The services at the hostel are far more extensive than I expected with them providing more than just tours but also providing money exchange , cooking classes and kite flying. If you're after a social and fun stay, I'd highly recommend staying.

Staff was super friendly, atmosphere was great: bonfires at night and kite battles. The location is perfect, just 10 minutes walking from the Golden Temple. Tour to the Pakistan border was amazing with Vicky, the guide, who was friendly and well informed.
