I had an absolutely amazing stay. The location is simply a dream! Being right in the Old Town makes everything incredibly accessible, and the vibe of the place is just fantastic. I honestly don’t understand the negative comments from that group. I did not encounter any bedbugs or anything even close to that during my stay. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed, and the staff made me feel comfortable right away. The overall experience was genuinely enjoyable, and I would definitely come back with

Stay away from this place! Worst hostel experience of my life! I stayed here with a group of friends about two weeks ago, and here’s what happened, in order: - The hostel manager insisted that we pay for the three nights in cash, clearly for tax-related reasons, even though there were signs at the entrance stating otherwise. After a long discussion, we eventually managed to pay “only half” in cash. - For €20 per night, I honestly expected at least towels to be included. I went to rent one, and when I asked to pay by card, the price suddenly increased by 50%. That’s absolutely insane. - The hostel was in very poor hygienic condition. The rooms we were given were damp, poorly lit, and had windows that didn’t allow proper ventilation. The mattresses were extremely thin, old, and even damaged. There were no curtains to provide any privacy in shared rooms. The kitchen was unusable, with unpleasant smells throughout. - There was no common area to spend time with other guests. - And that’s not all. The worst part: in one of the rooms we rented, we found BEDBUGS. We immediately left the hostel and didn’t even stay a single night. Despite the manager’s promises of a refund (given the unacceptable sanitary conditions), we never received anything. This is not a joke—there are other reviews confirming the same issue, showing that the management was aware of the situation and never properly addressed it. Strongly not recommended!

Terrible experience. We found bed bugs in our room. Despite the assurances received during our stay, it has been three weeks since our return and the promised refund has still not been issued, despite our constant follow-ups via messages and calls. ​The management's response was nothing short of embarrassing: they admitted to treating only the specific room where the bugs were spotted, completely ignoring the fact that these pests easily spread throughout the entire building. It is absurd that a professional establishment does not know that, in such cases, treatment must cover the entire premises and not just a single room. ​After reading other reviews, we unfortunately realized that this is not an isolated incident. Both the cleanliness and the customer service are totally inadequate. I strongly advise against staying here until serious and certified measures are taken.

I went two weeks ago with a group of friend. We found bed bugs in one of the room, the owner sent us out immediately (as it should), assuring we would get refunded. The refund never came, even after multiple solicitations and assurance by the staff that they would do so. Some of us stayed anyway in the other room. Besides the dishonesty, the hostel looks nothing like the picture shown. It is dirty and trashy. Common spaces don't have windows, the kitchen is almost unusable given the dirtiness and state of utensils. Rooms are barely clean, bed sheets are so thin that you fell the old dirty mattress underneath. Only one of the staff member seemed collaborative (although the refund never came), while all the others are rude. This is not a budget hostel, this is a trash hostel.

We had a disappointing experience with this place and their staff. Everything looked pretty shady. Problems started when in the room ( included in a different reservation) we found bed bugs. They promised a refund after kicking us out of the rooms,and in one month they've not been able to give us a proof of refund or anything. Just promises that money were coming couple of days later and that they would never scam us. Useless to say that after 4 weeks still no track of the refund.

We got bed bugs! This was very disappointing for our stay. The beds need cleaning , the atmosphere was not nice. Beds, and bed sheets seemed not preserved good enough and dirty. The WCs ans showers were very few for the amount of people using the facilities. Still needing more cleaning.

Insanely dirty hostel, kitchen stinks and toilets clogged. Beddings are stained and bed bugs were also spotted by other people.. and they were trying to make fun of other guest with their racist jokes, and the staff still find it funny Cockroaches found too almost forgetting to mention. It's basically living hell, just that this has to pay to enter

Desde a minha chegada ao hostel foi horrivel, a atendente era antipatica, e cobrou me o que eu ja tinha pago, ainda alicou me a pagar com dinheiro, mentindo que o multibanco não estava a funcionar, a meio da noite fui surpreendida por um percevejo na cama. Houve um dia que cheguei ao quarto e tinha tudo desaparecido sem me dizerem nada... Mandei email, pedi o recibo, passaram me um recibo que não coincidia com a realidade. Reclamei, disseram que a transferência ia ser processada mas até hoje nada, pedi o comprovativo da transferência e não me disseram mais nada. Foi a pior experiência que já tive, nem dormir consegui

I had a absolutely wonderfull experience! The staff is super nice and the rooms where very clean. Also big lockers so great for backpackers or interrail. Right by oldtown and pubcrawls happening from hostel. I did however find a single bedbug in my bed. Other then that i haf a fantastic stay!

Bed bugs in the hostel. Woke up in the midle of the night itching and found a bed bug running in my bed. Read some old reviews of the place and seem that they have had them for a while. Cant recomend for anyone as they dont seem to be able to fix the issue.

There must've been some bedbugs, I have discovered a few spots on my body with itchy skin on last day of my stay and gotten one or 2 more spots the next day

The rooms were dirty and smelly! The bedings weren’t washed. There are no locks on the doors. The furniture was very dirty and we found bed bugs. If you want to cook something the kitchen downstairs has some useful appliances but nothing amazing.The bathroom doesn’t have the necessary conditions to take a shower, the water doesn’t have any pressure and it s stinks.THE PHOTOS ARE FAKE PLASE DO NOT COME HERE!

The photos are fake, the hostel looks terrible and old. There are bed bugs and you will probably get a skin infection. The staff isn’t talking very good english, neither romanian. The rooms didn’t have any type of lock, the staff came in our room whenever they wanted. We found clothes on the balcony and the bedding was very dirty. Even if it’s only 10$ it is not worth it!

There were a lot of bed bugs sucking the blood at night.

The good: Central Location Value for money Toilets are clean Large cozy reception (but not allowed to wait) The BAD: The location is very central which means you cant have a good nights sleep cause of the bars and loud music all night Stairs no lifts!! dont bring heavy luggage! There are just 4 toilets in total 1 on first floor 1 on second floor 2 on third floor Showers 3 on first 3 on second 2 on third Kitchen is dirty. Very limited pots/pans/dishes No coffee house on site as mentioned in description or even coffee/tea They didn't provide iron Staff stay on premises yet reception is unmanned most times. Mattresses and pillows are uncomfortable. Only thin sheets provided (no blankets or duvets) You get what you pay for. Cheap as chips with a really bad rude staff. The UGLY: The staff is extremely RUDE and ABUSIVE. They kept walking in our room without any reason. Our flight was landing at 3 am and we were told we can't check in after midnight so we need to wait at reception or common areas by Irena before we booked (and we booked our dates as suggested by her). Later Yunus was extremely rude/abusive and threatened to cancel our reservation & charge us extra. (They missed out on big fat tips due to this behaviour) Allowed us to keep our luggage after 8am. Lockers are provided for smaller luggages but there are limited lockers and other things are put in an unlocked room next to kitchen Lots of bugs (bed bugs/flies/mosquitos) Customer service at booking.com do nothing If you must book this place, do it directly with hostel as it's much cheaper

BED BUGS. We came back at night and turned on the light and we could see them walking up the wall. Several of them. We took pictures and packed our stuff and left. I went to reception and told the staff and showed him the pictures and he simply apologized. He didnt seem surprised at all. We left. Emailed the pictures also to the hostel and they didnt respond. I waited 2-3 days until I wrote this review because I was giving them a chance to respond but they didnt respond. Also the room didnt lock. The staff went through tons of keys and found it eventually and he locked the door but the lock didnt work and anyone could just push it in.

Found bed bugs in my clothes and suitcase. Covered in bites the next day.

Hello I found bedbugs on the mattress biting me. I lifted the mattress and a took a photo of their "nest" on the metal frame of the bed. In the morning I told the reception of the bugs. When I returned at midday, after cleaning, I checked under the mattress. The bedbugs where still there. They did NOT clean metal frame. I have photos 2 Also the locks on the doors did not work. So the reception told everybody in the hostel to put their bags in a toilet on the ground floor. I have a photo

Many bedbugs and mosquitoes, so it was a nightmare for me. I have strong allergic reaction from bug bites. My room was on 3rd floor and and locker was on the ground floor. Blanket cover didn't smell really clean.

My Bucharest holiday was ruined when I was bitten by bed bugs at Antique Hostel. Woke up before 4am to find the whole bed crawling with bed bugs & they were crawling all over me too!!! The hostel description stated that 24-hour reception. There was only 1 Romanian guy who could not speak a single word of English. No help at all. Had to pack up & leave hostel at 4am to look for another hotel! Imagine wondering around alone at 4am in a new city since I was on a solo travel!!! This was my 1st encounter with bed bugs & I was traumatised! Went back to Antique Hostel at 8am & showed the manager & staff the bed which still had bed bugs on it. Was compensated for 1 night and they helped to steam my things & given insect bite cream. However, this was not enough to make up for the traumatic experience & the paranoia that I am suffering (could not get a good night sleep until now as I kept waking up to check my bed whenever there is an itch). Had to take anti histamine medication & apply steroid cream on bites due to itch. Had to spend more money on new hotel, laundry & plastic + ziplock bags to ensure these bed bugs do not hitchhike on my things. According to Antique Hostel staff, this is not the first time they have bed bug issues! AVOID ANTIQUE HOSTEL

BEDBUGS on the beds. Rooms without lockers even though the official fotos show lockers, they said they recently took them out. Hostel almost empty, not such a nice atmosphere. Amazing location. I would never recommend, I would never return.

There were bedbugs in room and really dirty showers. The next room we paid for wasn't prepared for us and it was painted day before we came, so it smells as hell. Unfriendly personal and the worst manner I have ever seen. WE LEFT AFTER THE FIRST NIGHT...

The place was very nice, except for one small horrifying detail: the beds in our room were crawling with bedbugs. You know, small, horrid blood sucking insects! The hotel owners seemed very unfazed by the news and blankly told us that we will have our money back the next day (which we still didn't receive) and left us to find a new place to sleep on our own in the middle of the night, at 2 AM. Would not recommend to my worse enemies!

Here we are, at 2 am, awaked by tens of bedbugs. The owner is extremely rude and has no idea what to do.

Good location, very close to the bus stop for the airport, old town and a big shopping centre. The window has a cool view too! The kitchen and reception areas were always very clean. The shower always had dirt from people's shoes and I don't even know what else on the floor and the bedroom was mopped once during our stay here, but you could see all the hairs left in the water so it was clear it hadn't been swept or hoovered beforehand. The lack of cleanliness was confirmed by our discovery of bedbugs on the final day here. We've since spent a lot on cleaning all of our things to be sure we haven't carried them on our travels. We informed the man in reception who gave us a business card to contact them with as we had to leave for a flight, it's been two weeks and no response.
