JJ's Place Moalboal

“The hotel was unsanitary – we were greeted by cockroaches as soon as we arrived! There was no air conditioning, and the heat was stifling, making it impossible to sleep. The staff was very unpleasant (trying to charge me for unjustified items), except for one lovely lady, probably the owner. I absolutely do not recommend this place.”

There weren’t any outlets near any of the top bunks, the sink didn’t work, toilet didn’t flush and the shower smelled really weird:/ the location was okay but not the best option in Moalboal. Staff was very kind though!

- AC not working, - in the evening there were no water for shower - cockroach in the room - too expansive for an Private room + the staff is very friendly & helpfull

Review for private FAN room. Incredibly hot( hotter than outside). One standing fan. Mattress super worn, uncomfortable. Shower dirty and no lock. Bucket flush toilet had to walk through bar area to reach. Private room we actually booked was “unavailable”…. A trick? BEDBUG bites found afterwards. NOT sanitary. Saving grace; nice staff and pancakes, cheap bar. Not sure what the dorm is like. But avoid this private room if you want a decent nights sleep. Needs a serious refurb.

Do not stay here if you want a clean room, the private fan room was absolutely disgusting and definitely not cleaned at all before we came. They provided no blankets or towels (even though the listing says it provides it) we had to ask and beg for a blanket and towels, the room was advertised as AC but no ac at all only a fan and the fan in the room was so tiny. Left a night early it was misery animals keep you up all night as well, roosters, cat fights, groups of dogs barking at front 3-5 am

Booked a private room, we turn up and apparently it’s not available so go into normal 10 bed dorm which we weren’t too bothered by except we saw online that they do this a lot to get people to book onto the hostel. As soon as we got into the dorm room we noticed one of the beds had bugs crawling all over it. Fa***s were also visible so we left the hostel. We were offered 50% of what we paid to be refunded. May have been a one off but basic hygiene is important to us so felt we should mentio...

Wir hatten ein Einzelzimmer gebucht. Das Zimmer war dreckig, tote Kakerlaken lagen auf dem Boden und generell waren auch viele lebendige Kakerlaken im Zimmer.

Worst hostel I've stayed in. The toilet didn't flush which no one sorted whilst we was there wasn't given an alternative. The door to our room didn't fit the frame, the main road is so noisy you feel like you're sleeping outside. Cold shower. Massive cochroaches, the only ok thing was the pancake for breakfast. Would not recomend to anyone.

Dirty toilets, never toilet paper, no shower that you could lock and worth Part no blanket.

The owner was very friendly and accommodating. The place was also very accessible and very near to a lot of cafés. Great value for money.

We stayed at JJ’s for 4 nights. The location was good, close to the popular bars and food places. The staff was really nice and helpful. Breakfast is good. However, the room was horrible: mold on the ceiling, no ac and it was really hot, toilet didn’t work and didn’t have a seat, furniture was broken, cockroach. We took the cheapest room so yeah you get what you pay for.

JJ is an awesome host, very helpful and makes you feel welcome right away. The room and bathroom are rather poorly equipped but for the price totally acceptable.

Staying in this hostel made our trip to Moalboal infinitely better! JJ and the staff here were so kind and showed us a a really fun time throughout our stay. The location of the hostel was great and the room was very comfortable. The mini bar also served the cheapest drinks I’ve seen in a while. I would totally recommend staying here to anyone coming to Moalboal!

Not a hostel to stay at, but the bar area is kinda cute. Sadly it’s one of the worst dorms in 5 months and there is no flushing toilet, so be aware of that.

No aircon, no window, no bed sheet given to cover myself. Room smelled as old and humid Girl at reception was nice

Wer relativ na am Strand wohnen will 10 Minuten laufen in Ordnung Nachteil hauptstraße morgen schon sehr laut dafür ein freies Frühstück mit einer Tasse Kaffee ist okay für den Preis gut. Verbesserungswürdig ist Sauberkeit und Sicherheit Sehr freundliches Personal gute

Keine Klimaanlage nur Ventilator. Extrem warm im Zimmer. Badezimmer sind nicht wirklich sauber. Personal ist aber sehr nett und hilfsbereit.

Really enjoyed my stay here :)

Very good recommend

The owner and staff here are lovely and accommodating, but unfortunately this hostel needs some improvements. The private rooms are small with a small double bed’s too short for 2 people, and are dark with only a small window and a stand-up fan have very little ventilation to cool them down. The dorm room has AC and an en suite, but not airtight and so many mosquitoes and ants get in. Bathroom and social area need a bit of renovating, but the bar and breakfast was good value and easy location ...
