Macondo Hostel

Went there for 2 days and stayed for 4. The staff helps organize all the activities. There’s a jacuzzi but not a pool. I had a major issue because I got bed buds and got both legs really stitched so my rating can’t be better. The hostel offered me a change to another room and discounted one night.

The staff is very kind, solid place to stay for the price, but it's really a basic dorm and the hostal felt too crowded overall, cold shower. I moved to Traveler after my first night and am much happier there

Sehr sauberes Hostel mit einer sehr entspannten und kommunikativen Atmosphäre. Die Mitarbeiter sind außergewöhnlich hilfsbereit. Ich habe alle meine Touren (paragliden und Raften) über das Hostel gebucht und kann dies nur jeden empfehlen. Außerdem gibt es noch Dienstag den Tejo Abend sowie montags den Fußball Abend mit locals gegen gringos. Beide Veranstaltungen sind ebenso absolut empfehlenswert.

Das Macondo Hostel war super, viele tolle Aktivitäten und Leute die man kennenlernen kann. Der Owner und das Team sind alle so herzlich und helfen immer bei allem! ❤️

Great place. Staff incredibly helpful- not only with booking to go to events, contacting the organisers, putting on a Tejo evening but they also helped me retrieve my sunglasses after they fell out of my bag at the Cascadas. Room was nice, clean with air on plus good amount of storage with hanging & drawer space. Individual keys to rooms but no pockets in the room so you need to trust your fellow travellers. They also let you leave bags & use full facilities on the day even after check out

Sean and his crew run an incredibly well run hostel. Knowledgeable about all things Colombia and helpful organising activities. They even provided old shoes to use while rafting. Home to the best hot showers I had in hr country, would definitely stay again.

Das Staff war sehr sehr nett und hilfsbereit! in dedem Hostel ist Actionprogramm angesagt, zum chillen findet man dort keinen. die Küche ist supsuper ausgestattet, unser ZweibettzimmZweibettzimmer war gut, das Doppelbett leider sehr hart und wenig Schränke

Lovely hostel with lovely staff. Good range of activities, well-equipped kitchen, nice dorms, friendly and knowledgeable staff. We met lots of nice other travellers, social but relaxed atmosphere.

I liked it a lot. The environment, activities, cleanliness, the real nice customer service at the front desk (all of them). But the bed was so stiff that my back hurt! So idk if I would come back just bc of that

The most wholesome and enjoyable hostel experience i’ve had in Latin America for 2 reasons; 1- Shaun (owner) and his team are so helpful with info, organising adventure activities and getting you involved in local culture 2- you wont find better showers anywhere, honestly. Warm showers that are overly spacious and super clean. A MUST STAY in San Gil

Sean and co were thorough with anything and everything to know here in San Gil. They were unbelievably kind and helpful in all areas, helped with booking activities and the accom was clean + comfortable. However this wasn’t the best part of my time in San Gil. The macondo hostel offers the best showers in South America. With pressure, temperatures and shower space that will blow the soap out of your hand. Incredible. Think I may pop through for one more shower before leaving this country.

Perfect place to base yourself when exploring San Gil and doing all the extreme sports. The staff were very helpful when recommending tours and getting to other places. Can’t recommend this place enough

Stop scrolling and book this hostel. Can't recommend it enough - it's spotlessly clean and the staff are excellent. They go out of their way to help you book activities and encourage connections between guests, and are super knowledgeable about the local area & happy to share this knowledge with you.

Rooms are spacious but lacking in lockers but this was fine since the hostel kept the main door locked. The staff were super friendly and keen to get everyone involved in the many outdoor adventures San Gil has to offer. Beds were comfortable and rooms were clean. The kitchen facilities were the best I have seen so far.

One of the best hostels we’ve stayed in. The owner and staff are amazing, the helped us so much with booking tours and everything else we needed. The hostel has such good social areas and the rooms are lovely and clean!! Would defo go back

Un superbe hostel, rapport qualité / prix imbattable, le personnel est très aimable et arrangeant ! Nous avons passé un super séjour à Barichara. Je recommande vivement cette auberge.

Super hostel, il y a un grand extérieur avec plusieurs coin pour se poser et des hamacs trop confortable, le personnel est adorable et toujours pleins de bon conseils et d’aide. Il propose également beaucoup d’activités. Les dortoirs sont très confortable. J’ai aussi fais de magnifique rencontre dans cette hostel alors je recommande fort !!

Quedé muy satisfecho de mi estancia con Shaun y todo su staff. Regresaría con gusto. Es un excelente punto de encuentro y las actividades que se organizan son divertidas. A notar que el jacuzzi no es realmente caliente, pero el cuarto, la cocina y los espacios son muy cómodos.

Séjour incroyable dans cet hostel. Chambre privée très spatieuse et confortable. Mais surtout le staff de l’auberge était vraiment gentil, plein de bons conseils sur les activités à faire et ils essayaient aussi de créer des ponts entre les gens qui voulaient faire les mêmes activités, ce qui est top pour rencontrer du monde quand on voyage solo. La ville est super safe et il y a nombreuses excursions à faire comme des piscines naturelles, la visite de Barrichara ou des sports extrê...

Really enjoyed my stay here. The hostel kind of grows on you and everyone was on a similar vibe and friendly. Shaun and the staff go out of their way to be as helpful as possible.

Had the best time at Macondo. The staff - especially Sean, Diego, and Neffer - were kind, helpful, and pleasant to be around. They helped with booking all the activities and provided recommendations on what to do around town. The space itself was very peaceful for lounging and had everything you’d need for a few days of adventuring! I will be back 🙏🏻

Loved it here - mostly because the owner is so passionate about his place; and the information about all the activities is probably one of the best I’ve come across on all my travels. That alone is worth this hostel over any others, especially in the area where there’s so many activities!
