Tavan Chopai Homestay

staff were lovely but photos very misleading

Its a big sleeping room with twenty beds seperated in to dorms by curtains. So there was no privacy and you had to sleep Next to strangers. Also the Pool had no water. But Tavan village was really Beautiful.

The beds and bathrooms were covered in bugs and mosquitos really should have mosquito nets!

Die Familie ist sehr nett ist aber als ich Nachts ankam war keiner zum Check in da (obwohl ich mich angekündigt und eine Check In Bestätigung für die Zeit bekommen habe). Die Dormbetten waren sauber aber die nächste Nacht im Einzelzimmer... Das Bad war echt dreckig und als ich gefragt habe ob man es putzen kann wurde kurz mit Wasser der grobe Dreck weg gemacht. Zudem sind die ganze Zeit Ameisen über mein Bett (und mich) gelaufen.

I booked 2 beds for me and my friend, but when we arrived the host told us someone wanted to stay a night longer, which is absurd because we booked it and he didn’t. So we couldn’t stay there anymore. They offered us an alternative, which was in a barn and it was for the same price as the other one.

Gorgeous village and great location for trekking. Unfortunately, we noticed bed bugs in our bed and bites over our bodies. The staff did wash all of our belongings and put us in a private room for the last night. When it came to payment it was disappointing that we still had to pay full price for everything despite asking for a small discount due to the inconvenience.

I don’t think the property really looks like the photos. It is in the middle of nowhere and pretty hard to get a grab to town aswell(that’s not their fault, just something to be aware of) it was just a touch of a disappointment when i got there.

One of the most social hostels in Ta Van, decent location and the staff are lovely. However there is a lot of construction going on right now so it doesn’t really look like the photos, and showers have cold water a lot of the time.

The place has a very beautiful view. The sheared room is very nice but It was very cold at night

Lovely location if you are looking for somewhere out of the city. Lots of nice restaurants and places to get drinks at the bottom of the hill. The rooms overall were okay. It smelt very damp and our clothes felt cold and wet. The electric bed heater was great though.

Lovely hostel. The family who runs it’s are really sweet. It’s located a bit far from the actual town of Sapa, but i recommend staying in Tavan instead of there. The village around it has such an amazing vibe. I met some really great people staying here. A perfect place to chill and socialise.

LOVED it here, I added this homestay to my very selective list of “elite hostels”. This place felt like a home and the family was unbelievably welcoming. They have everything you could need: meals, scooter rental, taxi, laundry, waters, and more. The location was perfect in my opinion, outside of the city but a quick scooter trip. It was so peaceful here. I so enjoyed my stay and I can’t recommend enough.

Such a lovely family who own this home stay, super social, the family dinner is delicious and the dorms are super comfortable, it isn’t in sa pa town so does take a bit of a drive to get to but the views make it worth it!

Super hostel dans le village de Ta Van. La vue depuis la terrasse est super. C’est convivial notamment grâce aux activités organisées et aux family dinners. Douches un peu rustiques mais c’est compensé par le reste.

Gorgeous views! And lovely breakfast and family dinner. Not much personal space at hostel so if you need thst book a private room.

Loved staying in the bungalow with a beautiful view of the mountain. Breakfast was delicious, one of the best we have had. Plenty of food at family dinner but not free. Bathroom could do with a shower cubicle rather than a wet room and the bins weren't emptied during our stay

Nice place to chill and socialize, they do family dinner every night and 1-2 days hikes. The pool was amazing after a long hike and it's a good place to rest and wind down a bit. The dorm was clean and beds were comfortable, everybody is super kind and the breakfast is nice too. Would recrecommend!

Die 2D. Trekking Tour welche wir über das Hostel gebucht hatten war nicht so überzeugend, da der vom homestay organisierte Guide uns zu käufen bei einheimischen scammern gedrängt.Sonst war die Tour aufgrund der wunderschönen Natur natürlich trotzdem ein Erfolg . Frühstück allerdings sehr gut und auch im generellen auf jeden Fall noch mal eine Nacht wert

It was so lovely staying here, the breakfast and family dinner was a highlight. It was close to Sapa central about 20-30 mins but still felt like you in your own world. I’d highly recommend this homestay.

Absolutely loved this homestay!!! The staff were so kind and the volunteer was amazing. The location was beautiful and much better than staying in central Sapa. The family dinner was a great way to chat to people and overall very relaxing.

Great base to explore the surrounding area with plenty of hiking trails easily accessible. Rooms are simple but beds are comfy, the breakfast is really good and the staff were really helpful. Also very easy to get a taxi/grab into sa pa whenever you’d like, and there are some really great restaurants in walking distance.

Les +: endroits chaleureux, super activités proposées, bon pancake a la banane au petit déj. Les -: les dortoirs sont dans un grand espaces en mezzanine sans porte pour fermer et certaines chambres privées sont collés au dortoir avec une très fines cloison ce qui fait que vous vous avez très peu d’intimité. Les douches sont dans les toilettes et il y en a 2 pour le dortoirs et chambres privées c’est très peu et surtout ça se salie beaucoup… Piscine verte pas en état dura...

A good homestay out of Sapa. We did the day trekking tour and really enjoyed it! It is 25 mins from Sapa and so you have to get a grab which can be quite expensive. if you are just looking to chill and do some trekking then staying outside of Sapa is a nice idea. The private room was pretty standard although it did have a great view. Breakfast/dinner was nice and there are some good restaurants near too. There is construction atm and so we couldn’t use the pool which was a shame.
