Sakura Guest House

- I had the worst day of my life staying there. I feared for my life. I always research places thoroughly, and I chose a shared women’s dorm to feel safe, but it was the complete opposite. To begin with, the person who checked me in acted as if he was drunk, and there was no clarity in the service. The room I was in had six women, one of whom was making a lot of noise. I made a sound to ask her to be quiet because the noise was too much. She went crazy, opened my curtain, started yelling at me, and tried to attack me. I didn’t understand what was happening because she was yelling at me in Japanese. She seemed very drunk, left the room screaming, and went to the kitchen, where she started moving things around and shouting. I was terrified, and the other girls were too. I had to change to another bunk with a different girl to hide behind her curtain. She came back screaming in her language, looking for me. I don’t know if she wanted to attack me, but I was extremely scared. We had to call the police. The owner wasn’t there, and I had to stay hidden for a while until the police arrived. When she realized the police were here, she pretended to be asleep. All the other girls and I left the room—we couldn’t sleep there out of fear. We couldn’t get in touch with the owner at all, and even the police couldn’t reach him. It was truly a nightmare. As a woman, I would definitely not recommend this place after such a terrible experience.**

- 空部屋がなかった為女性ルー厶でもＯＫということで宿泊希望が叶った。後日メールで一方的にキャンセルして欲しいとの強要が有りましたので、電話でキャンセルしました。時間が無かったので他の宿探しに慌てふためいた。

+ My arrival experience was terrible. Since I arrived late, it was dark and raining heavily. My bus dropped me off seemingly in the middle of nowhere, forcing me to endure a long walk uphill in the darkness with heavy luggage. I was fortunate that someone showed up on the road and helped me find my way. The location is too far outside the main area, which makes access difficult. Beyond the bad start, the hostel seems to be more geared towards older Japanese guests rather than typical backpackers. The facilities were disappointing: there is a noticeable lack of comfort in the room, and the kitchen area looks very old and used.

+ 風呂無しと思っていたがシャワールームがあり助かりました。クーラーがあり快適でした。

- ベッド間にカーテンだけでなく、仕切りがあれば、個室的になると思います。カーテンだけでは気疲れします。 一部屋に二段ベッドが４個ありましたが、１個減らし個室的に改良工事されれば良いのではないかと思いました。 冷蔵庫が各部屋に１個づつあれば便利になる。ベッドが硬い。自宅ではソフトベッドのため、そう感じました、朝起きると腰が痛っかった。

+ 設備が行き届いていて、よかったと思います。

- ベッドでの照明が少し暗い。チェックイン時に、寝室での携帯の使用を禁止すべく宿泊者にアナウンスしておいてほしい。夜10時ごろになっても、皆が寝ているのに、中国人か台湾人かわからないが、ペチャクチャとベッドに横たわりながら会話しているのは、寝ている者にとっては非常に迷惑です。不愉快でした。

+ Helpful staff: I informed I would arrive late in the evening and they left the key and a note with information at the reception desk (closed) for me.

- Terrible smell in the room and terrible smell in the kitchen. The fridge was dirty and stinky. Only 3-4 showers for all the guests.

- Too far from transportation, food (by the time I got off train at night, no buses or taxis at station) Luckily a local person pointed me to taxi office! Bunk bed not very comfortable. Guesthouse was not that clean.

- Muy alejado de Takayama y en una colina con lo cual no alquilamos bicicletas como teníamos pensado. La habitación muy oscura y el baño en otra planta

+ L'emplacement, la chambre et le personnel à l'accueil très souriant et serviable. Possibilité de faire une machine. Cuisine à disposition avec tout l'équipement nécessaire pour se faire à manger.

+ Traditional style lodge. Very fluffy duvet!! Woodstove in the kitchen. The shuttle service in the morning before buses run, was very nice. Very welcoming owners.

- Mattress was quite hard, but amazing duvet. I bit of a walk from town with limited buses.

+ The host was so kind, he even provides his own "shuttle-service" to the train station each morning. Otherwise, it is a nice, quiet Hostel, which has everything you need. While there were not many people there when I was staying, I can imagine this being a good place to meet people while traveling.

- It is bit far off from the train station and busses only drive until early evening. But if you are ready and able to walk a bit it is not a problem.

+ Een heerlijk hostel; van alle voorzieningen voorzien en in de oude stijl, waar Takayama bekend om staat. Ontzettende lieve hosts die mijn e-reader naar mij verzonden hebben, omdat ik deze per ongeluk had laten liggen. Ik raad deze guest house iedereen aan!

+ Very clean environment and kind people. I could borrow a umbrella for free, saved my day.
