I liked the hostel and my stay was going well. However, one guest was acting strangely and was heard saying he would hurt himself and others. This was reported to reception but nothing was done. The next day, money was stolen from several people, including me. I believe this situation should have been taken more seriously, as it could have ended much worse. I also received no reply to my messages after I checked out.
I’ve stayed in 60+ hostels across 40 countries, this is by far the worst. 0 atmosphere, hard to sleep. Meeting people is hard. No events, nada. Prices were slashed after booking. I got bed bugs. Worse, booked “tour” was a scam: I paid $90(70+20), others paid $50–60 (all included), and I was the only young person despite promises. Extremely boring. They profit by deceiving guests. Buena ubicación y buenas instalaciones, con ambiente excelente de hostal. Lo malo fue la limpieza de las habitaciones en especial de los baños ya que al ser una habitación de 12 personas el baño siempre estaba sucio, en mi opinión para este tipo de habitación se debe hacer el aseo al menos 2 veces al día en lugar de una sola vez.
The bad thing was the cleanliness of the rooms especially the bathrooms as being a room for 12 people the bathroom was always dirty, in my opinion for this type of room one should clean at least 2 times a day instead of once.
Probably fine if you want to stay in a shared room for cheap. If you are staying in a private room, this is an AWFUL value. Go book a hotel for a bit more money. Worst hostel I’ve ever stay at. Left 5 days early without even bothering to ask for a refund or accommodation.
Be carful Please I have a worst four days in Mayan Monkey Hostel on 23-November I was sleeping in my room and the room service ask me to go out from the room so they can clean it after I back i found 300$ stolen from my baggage and I made a report in the reception and report at police station because they should see on CCVT the room service who enter my room and was there but they didn’t Anyway Take care because they have a low security and even they will not help you only apologize email
What a joke!! Fees and taxes are about 42% of the price of the night !!!!!! We paid 60$ USD for 3people and ONLY ONE NIGHT! .. it was supposed to be only 40$.. such a scam Except that it’s a cool one
Got hit by a motorcycle outside of the hostel in the crosswalk without a working traffic light. The people at the hostel said nothing when I was hobbling around before leaving early. The lack of safety and minimal care to say, 'Hey are you alright' makes me believe the hostel across the street is a better place to book. The rooms were pretty nice for a hostel. I had a bad experience with this hostel. Around $30 was taken from my bank account before I even arrived, although I paid everything in cash at check-in. The manager admitted the charge wasn't normal but refused to refund me. He gave me his phone number to follow up, but never replied again. Very unprofessional and dishonest – I wouldn’t recommend this place.
La habitación está a lado de la altavoz de la zona social y es imposible dormir hasta la 1 de la madrugada. A las 6 am se empieza a escuchar el ruido de la cocina, horrible ese cuarto. Tampoco estaba limpio y había agua en el piso por todos lados supongo por fugas del aire condicionado
The room is next to the social area speaker and it is impossible to sleep until 1 am. at 6 am you start hearing the noise of the kitchen, horrible that room. it was not clean either and there was water on the floor everywhere i guess from leaks from the air conditioner

Ubicación excelente, literas cómodas.... personal, al menos quien a mi me hizo check in, con muy poca disposición de ayudar.... no me dio ni siquiera toalla ni la contraseña del WIFI, tuve que indagarla yo mismo con otros huéspedes y al realizar check in le solicite una litera en la parte inferior a lo cual se negó argumentando qué no tenía disponibilidad y al llegar a la habitación, oh sorpresa, habitación semi vacía y camas inferiores desocupadas.... el hostel en general cumplió m...
The breakfast was delicious. The drinks were a little pricey but manageable. Room was nice and clean and A/C was always on. The pool however could be cleaned better. There is residue on the side walls of the pool. The environment as a whole was great and it’s a very popular hostel so you can meet a lot of people there and it’s close to all the fun places to go. Lastly, the staff was incredible and very helpful. Big shout out to Aaron! And Miguel! With honorable mentions Luli, and Stephania.
Rooms are great, comfy and clean. Really loud music every day till midnight (even if the whole place is empty), so be aware that you will not sleep before that time. The advertised kitchen is a joke, they are missing almost all the basic kitchen utilities to cook. Should not be named kitchen. Overall incredible expensive for what you get, and you're only paying for the location.
El recibimiento genial por el personal, la estancia muy parca y la salida igual, perdí mi equipaje 🧳 y la verdad que el apoyo fue nulo, ni un mínimo de cortesía se que no fue su culpa pero al menos el " podemos ayudarle en algo" no salió. Dure 4 días y nunca fueron a cambiar sábanas o toalla, no sé si fue por qué me hospede en habitación compartida pero la limpieza quedaron a deber. The great reception by the staff, the very sparse stay and the same exit, I lost my luggage and the truth that the support was zero, not the slightest amount of courtesy if it wasn't your fault but at least the "we can help you with something" didn't come out. Lasted 4 days and never went to change sheets or towel, I don't know if it was why I stay in a shared room but the cleanliness was a must. Excellent location, very good common facilities, terrace, coworking, library, play area.
Es un lugar muy bien ubicado, con acceso a la playa muy cerca, con las paradas del bus literalmente enfrente. Alondra, Luli, y Melisa en recepción son muy amables. Los del barra me atendieron bien, especialmente Miguel y Andy. La comida esta rico y especialmente para el precio. Deben que comprar el desayuno, si vale la pena. La habitación fue muy acomodo, limpio, y el aire estaba bien rico. Te recomiendo hospedarte en este hostal, tiene vibras muy buenas. 10/10.
It's a very well located place, with access to the beach very close, with the bus stops literally in front. alondra, luli, and melisa at the reception are very friendly. the people at the bar served me well, especially miguel and andy. the food is rich and especially for the price. you should buy breakfast, if it's worth it. the room was very comfortable, clean, and the air was very rich. i recommend you stay at this hostel, it has very good vibes. 10/10.
In terms of security I would NOT recommend this place. I had a free room to myself and when I was not there my wallet was stolen from me.

Excellent experience in Mayan Monkey Cancun. Ideal location in hotel area, close to the beach. Perfect social atmosphere to meet people, with daily activities. La atención de los chicos de recepción fue muy buena y grata, Luli,Melisa, Balam, Alondra, siempre atentos para proporcionar información acerca de sus servicios que ofrecen, las instalaciones limpias y un ambiente agradable de convivencia con otros viajeros, se encuentra en la zona hotelera de Cancún a unos pocos pasos de la playa.
The attention of the reception boys was very good and grateful, Luli,Melisa, Balam, Alondra, always attentive to provide information about their services they offer, the clean facilities and a pleasant environment of coexistence with other travelers, is located in the hotel area of Cancun a few steps from the beach.

Das Hostel befindet sich in einer sehr guten Lage und man kann fußläufig in 5 Minuten den Strand und die Clubs erreichen. Direkt gegenüber befinden sich zudem gute und preiswerte Restaurants. Das Zimmer selbst war sehr sauber und geräumig. Am besten hat uns der Allgemeinbereich mit dem Pool (inkl. Blick auf die Lagune) und der Bar gefallen. Insgesamt ein sehr gutes Hostel.

Muy buena experiencia en el hostel. posee un bar, con piscina y vista a la laguna. las habitaciones siempre limpias y los baños tambien. Posee tambien sector cocina. La atencion del personal fue excelente: para destacar a Balan, Melisa, Ludmila y sobre todo Alondra que nos ayudo con todo y nos dio información de la zona. Muy recomendable, volveremos. Lo único para mejorar pienso que seria mejor que el bar cierre mas tarde y no a las 23.30hs.

Bathrooms had no toilet paper or soap. Everything was very dirty and old. Showers smelled foul It was 10pm and they had maintenance repairing lights and being super loud. They knew I was there and made comments. Awkward… Beds were super comfortable and plugs by the bed were convenient. Atmosphere looked fun. Definitely a party hostel. Staff was friendly and informative. Balam was great 👍

Super ambiance, personnel gentils et aidants et Dave qui s’occupe des activités et tours a facilité le tout dans un tour de Cancun à Chichen Itza où j’ai pu débarquer à Valladolid avec mes bagages pour continuer mon voyage. En face de la lagune et de l’autre côté de la plage. Très bien situé pour visiter les autres plages . Les déjeuners sont vraiment bons! J’ y retournerais!
Super atmosphere, friendly and caring staff and Dave who takes care of the activities and tours facilitated everything in a tour from Cancun to Chichen Itza where I was able to disembark in Valladolid with my luggage to continue my journey. Opposite the lagoon and on the other side of the beach. Very well located to visit the other beaches . The lunches are really good! I would return!

It was an okay stay. The front desk staff was nice and the host I believe , Dave was also nice and helpful . Wasn’t as social as I hoped but most likely due to coming at the end of the season. Some folks were in their own group . Wouldn’t recommend booking the hostel events as it seems expensive for the overall experience . Still worth checking it out on your own if you can find a group and rent a car . Overall an OK experience for me personally
Gutes Hostel zum ankommen für eine Nacht. Aber ganz ehrlich Cancun ist und bleibt einfach kein besonders angenehmer Ort. Nicht viel zu tun. Schaut zu das ihr von dort schnell weitergeht.
Good hostel to arrive for a night. but honestly cancun is and remains simply not a particularly pleasant place. not much to do. watch out that you continue from there quickly.
