The location is in the city, really close to subway. Also close to NY grand central station. I got a bunk bed room with my friend, we have both been bitten by bed bugs in out 4 days of stay.

Location very good and staff was very helpful and friendly I believe my bed had bed bugs as it was itchy to sleep in

The hotel is 100% worth your money’s worth. It’s clean - no bedbugs etc. The neighborhood is safe and full of podole, stores, cafes. It’s in Midtown, great for sightseeing and close to Central Park if you wanna go run there in the morning. The room seems ridiculously tiny at first, but you get used to it and it’s totally fine. Would certainly stay there again. PS. Right around the corner are one of the best bagels in NYC, delicious way to start your day, and across the street from the hotel a small park where you can enjoy them without the city’s hassle. Room service was mediocre, no bed setting. Apart from that everything was great. Just don’t expect anything else.

Horrible! Cockroaches bed bugs do not book here and shared bathrooms the service is horrible they charged me for a night when I was here for an hour unbelievable!

The location was great and I had everything I needed. I got bed bugs. I had many bites around my wrists, hands, forearm, neck and back. This cause me so much money to throw away clothes and suitcases. I’m extremely disgusted and annoyed by the situation.

I've seen some reviews nitpicking really small things. The stay here was great. I just wish there was a mini fridge for drinks or left over food from the many nearby restaurants. Some reviews mention slow wifi, that seems to have been fixed, had no issues. No roaches, no rats, no bed bugs, no trash, clean sheets, great location, private shower, lowest price in area, what more could you need for a stay in Manhattan? 5 stars. P.S. I recommend the food at nearby Lucky Cat, it was next level good.

This experience reminds me of what it is like to travel on a cruise ship. I think that explanation is most accurate in how to explain how this rooming experience is. As I was falling asleeo for a very short sleep cycle, I felt small tickles on my face and immediately began to panic on the inside that, I might be covered in bed bugs, my pillow was less than adequate and the beds were hard. For having 2 rooms reserved, we were as far apart as possible which made things difficult for managing my children. No one seemed to clean the bathrooms and there was no antiseptic used between each bathroom use, which makes me worry about athletes foot exposure.

great location close to the subway and various restaurants and shops. friendly service, various restrooms. I found two bedbugs on my bed and was able to kill one and took it to reception. The person at the front desk immediately gave me a new room. I asked for help with moving my bags to the new room but the bellmen was just finishing his shift and had already changed his clothes (was the response from the front desk). They were nice in accommodating me in another room but they never apologized for the bed bug issue nor did they follow up with me to tell me the room would be fully cleaned or disinfected of the bugs. They did not offer to pay for my laundry either. I made a complaint via booking and the hotel asked me to deal with booking.com guest services directly; which I did. Booking.com customer service was able to get me the cost of one night reimbursed from the hotel. In my opinion they should have comped my entire stay and paid for a room in another hotel. I had bites from the bed bugs all over my neck, chest and arms.

Originally built as a long-stay, transient hotel with small rooms and shared bathrooms in the 1930's. Rooms are just what you need for a stay in East Midtown Manhattan. Most sight seeing is within walking distance, or buy a metro card to explore the city. Temperature for your room is individually controlled. Indicator lights for bathroom occupancy, trash and towels changed daily. Hotel staff is very kind and helpful. Small Cafe in lobby and beautiful outdoor seating area. Very clean, we checked for bedbugs and found no trace.

Don’t stay in the 11th floor. I had bed bugs bites all over my body after staying two nights.

Ich habe das Hotel gebucht weil es für die Lage mit den 3 Sternen super klang. Leider war die erste Nacht nicht so angenehm wie erhofft. In meinem Bett war eine Bettwanze. In dem 2. Zimmer was ich bekam waren Haare und flecken auf dem Bettbezug. Die Badezimmer hatten Schimmel an den Wänden und das Personal stritt die Bettwanzen ab. Angenehm war der Aufenthalt nicht. Auch bei der Bezahlung gab es erhebliche Probleme. Die Lage ist super, der Rest leider nicht. Lieber ein paar mehr Euro in ein wirklich gutes Hotel investieren.

Staff very friendly and efficient. I stayed in room 1128 on Tues. June 27. I've stayed a few times at Pod and had no issues until this latest stay: woke up with bug bites on my arms. Not sure if sheets weren't changed or bed bugs?? will not stay again.

This place is not look like the pictures hallways are really small but I was fine with that bc of the roof top and garden until I wake up with a million and one bites on me this place has bed bugs and I will be getting a refund !

Review for double room with private bathroom. Pros: + Location Cons: - Photos for double and queen bedrooms are misleading, they use the same images for both rooms. - The bathroom door doesn't close, so your partner can hear and smell everything. Goodbye romance. - There's no privacy for showering. - Bed has no heading. You just lay down flat straight away. - Mattress deforms easily and it's terrible for 2 people to sleep together - The sink is right by the bed and always looks messy - it's too small so water splashes everywhere. - AC has 3 options: High, low or off. It was never in the right temperature. - Other guests will be slamming doors ALL NIGHT LONG because they need to use the restrooms in the hallway. - Disgusting guests smoke at the hotel entrance, even when it's raining. They just gather around the main door. - Bed bugs. I guess it's fine if you're in your 20's. But in my 30's I regret staying here. For a few bucks more you can stay in a real hotel.

After already spending 1 night in my room, I discovered many bed bugs inside the sheets and pillow. The front desk upgraded my room but I’ll still not be going back.

After 20 minutes of checking in I admittedly ask to move to a different room because the room smell like dirty sweat socks (3rd floor)I asked the staff nicely and explained to them why and they moved me to a new room (9th floor). It felt fine and everything smelled better. I layed down a little and then I started to get itchy. I scratched for about 2 hours and look at my skin and I saw bed bug bites!!!!! I was so angry!! I wanted to take a shower but then the towels had stains on it! It was 3am! And I checked out!!!! I was suppose to stay for 2 nights but after 5 hours I was out! Staff didn’t care! Spent money for nothing! I then stayed in time square till morning and went home. DISGUSTING!!!!!!

I just stayed here on 03/23/1&-03/25/18 and I am not pleased with my end result. The first night I woke up with bite marks on my fingers I originally thought it was something outside. The second night I woke up scratching my arms as well. I have huge bite marks on my arms and fingers which lead me to believe this place has bed bugs! Checks your room before you stay. The service was nice but beware that I experienced bed bugs during my stay and I have proof to show !

The hotel looks amazing and all, however the rooms have no bathrooms and instead you have a shared bathroom on every floor including a shower. Not a fan of this. To top it off, my stay was literally cut super short due to bedbugs in the pillow my roommate was using. Sucks because I had to leave at 3am and head all the way back home due to this.

Good location for subways and the staff seemed very polite. Wi-Fi didn't work for my cell phone, but did for laptop. Heard there was a bed bug problem in NYC, but didn't see any complaints in the reviews. Ended up with bites on my chest and back after a 3 night stay.

I needed something with a clean bed, clean bathroom, and decent location, and Pod 51 met all those needs. No bed bugs, I checked.

Clean, kind staff, comfy beds. Compact size, no bedbugs. 😎 I enjoyed my stay there.

Its a lovely hotel. Yes rooms are small but they are just fpr sleeping and not ball dancing. We were happy there. No bed bugs. Nice and helpful staff. Bery helpful to book broadway tickets. I didnt like the fact though that there was no paper towel in the restrooms. I would go back there. Loved the atmosphere

Awful. TINY rooms (even by NYC standards) which makes staying there exhausting. The in-room "bathroom" is a toilet behind a curtain and a 2.5' x 2.5' shower behind plain glass... no privacy. If you're staying with someone, you'd better be sleeping with them, either way, there will be no secrets left in that relationship after this stay. The staff does NOT care about their guests. Any requests will be met with rolled eyes and blatant vocal sighs. The rooms weren't even that cheap, I've done better on every prior visit. Last, definitely not least, do a little research on their bed bug reports. When I left after my stay, my backside was completely covered in bed bug bites. All in all, not worth the SLIGHT savings from getting a room at a real hotel.
