The Hostel looked like a jail cell. It said there was air conditioning, and there was in the hallways, but not in the rooms. We sweat to death in our sleep. The shower curtain did not stop water from going all over the washroom, soaking everything. There was hair in the shower and red stains (blood?) on the bed sheets. I woke up with red bug bites all over my back. I’m not expert, but I’ve read that bed bugs are a problem at this hostel, therefore I feel confident saying there were bed bugs

I canceled over 71 hours before the day of my stay because I saw a review by another customer saying there was bed bugs here, and the response suggesting they couldn’t do anything to stop that from happening. I mistakenly followed the cancellation guidelines from the website I used to book, and thought I would only be losing one nights worth of payment, but Hostel One took all three nights. When I requested leniency due to how close to 72 hours I had cancelled, I was not given as such claiming they didn’t have enough time to find someone else to take my bed. There are thousands of tourist here, I somehow doubt this ‘fact’ and am extremely unsatisfied paying so much money for nothing. Will never ever go here, and have found much better prices for a very clean and well managed hostel nearby. This place also charges for lockers and things like that, which is just greedy.

The hostel had bed bugs, someone from my room went to reception to let them know they promised us it wasn’t possible and I woke up with bites all over my body! 😭

Vibe-Analyse
Hostel One sits in a strong spot in Split Old Town, close to the palace, harbor, port, and bus station. The setting is the main draw: it is easy to walk to shops, bars, and the waterfront from here, and the building feels polished rather than scrappy. Inside, the mood can swing between laid-back and lively. Some rooms have curtains, private beds, and en-suite bathrooms, and the beds can feel quite private. There are common areas, a patio or balcony, and occasional activities, so there is room to meet people, but it may also feel quiet or less open at times. Practical details are mixed. The hostel has clean rooms in a number of cases, towels are often provided, and there is a restaurant next door with a discount. At the same time, the kitchen is very limited, rooms can be small, and noise from nearby nightlife or thin windows can make sleep harder on some nights.
