Hostal Castilla I Atocha

I was charged €50 because a friend stepped into my room for about 15–20 minutes during the day. She did not stay overnight. Their written policy says the €50 fee applies per night for extra guests, but they still applied it anyway. The rules were only sent to me after the charge. I tried resolving it directly and through Hostelworld. Nothing. If you stay here, understand that even a very short daytime visit can cost you €50. There is no flexibility.

the place was very dirty. Bedsheets with hair, and other bodily fluids. Floor was disgusting. Upon complaining I was threatened, and eventually charged a penalty fee. This place is a Scam. Avoid at all costs.

Pretty lack luster hostel. No much to do. Impossible to meet anyone as there is no common area. Quite a scary place at night because it is so dark haha. Room was alright but nothing special

Literally perfect. Best place I’ve spend the night in, I had to book another night. The staff was super nice and the location is pretty good, with the metro being two blocks away and a 10min walk to the Main Train Station. The room I’ve stayed in was very clean and modern. Recommend 100%

Loved my stay here so much I extended a night!! Location is perfect, 2 min walk from the supermarket, laundromats and heaps of food places. All the tourist points like Plaza Mayor are super nearby and the neighbourhood feels safe and quiet at night. Staff lovely and they have an elevator to reach the 2nd floor. The private room had everything I need (AC!) only downside is that there are no common rooms and no kitchen, but they provide a kettle in the room. Such good value for money, highly rec!

Perfect location, great sized rooms, very nice bathrooms, the staff were incredible and very sweet allowing us to use their phone for hours, felt very safe with good security, definitely recommend!!
