Bigfoot Hostel and Volcano Boarding

my stay was alright but the service they offer is a scam, I had a shuttle to Salvador and they ask which hostel you want to get drop of when you book, but the driver stopped us outside the city, and tell us to get a taxi and if we are not happy, to deal with big foot o_O I send a text to bigfoot and they didn't even care to reply. and they also ask twice the fee for crossing the border (very sketchy business, because they avoid you to paid the immigration officier directly)

The volcano tour and their events are nice, but I'd recommend you to stay in other hostels. This one is below the nicaraguan hostel standards, that we experienced in all the other hostels we stayed in during our trip.

too loud and not good staff, not cooperative

What a joke. Felt like I was in high school again, just big egos and surface level personalities. Filled with people who just take advantage of Nicaragua as a cheap place to escape to and get drunk, smoke cigarettes and pretend they are travelling. Cockroaches everywhere in the worst equipped kitchen I’ve ever seen in a hostel. I left as soon as I could and wish I had done the volcano boarding with another company.

No food options in the hostel and also no laundry service themselves (only a phone number that never replies). The hostel is all about drinking and nothing else. Music is wayyyyyy too loud (get earplugs). Speakers are piercing and really bad quality which hurts your ears a lot. Same goes for their bus/volcano trip. Sleeping is no option, music can be heard really loud in your dorms unless you are lucky enough not to be next to it. I would never recommend anyone older dan 20+ to stay here.

Room was so dirty and extremely loud. On top bunk was so unsafe could have easily fallen, not worth the money at all and would not even do volcano boarding here. We were unable to do the volcano boarding due to the sheer disorganisation of the staff and the weather. Obvs the weather could not be helped but the staff knew before we entered the park without telling group that we would not be able to do it and still made everyone pay $10 entry. Do tour elsewhere. Manger of hostel extremely rude!!

Horrid. We only wanted to leave. Kitchen was so filthy that we had to cook in our friends hostel. The lights did not work and we had to get dressed in the dark each day because none of the rooms had windows. Surprisingly didn’t get any disease! On the up side if you’re looking for a party you’re in the right spot. Some of the volunteer’s also had inappropriate behaviour. Every night it was blasting music even if there was no party so pretty impossible to sleep.

The pool is more of a pond than a pool with extremely concerning rules e.g if u have s*x in it then wear protection… the kitchen was diabolical and only had 3 forks! My friend found a cat in her bed. If you’re trying to get a good nights sleep well then good luck because this is a rowdy old hostel full of 19 year olds.

Waste of time. Hostel is unsocial, the volcano boarding is so unpredictable most people go slow. The kitchen is absolutely grim, the party side of it is cringey. No information about anything around the hostel and always is a weird vibe around the place. Go somewhere else for volcano boarding

The best experience I’ve had with any hostel, very friendly and helpful staff, while on the tours the guides where very well informed and made sure all safely measures where in place, 100% recommend this place

Favorite hostel in Nicaragua. We were worried it would be loud but the party dies down around midnight every night and moves to after party locations. Maybe not the best place if you are trying to catch an early nights sleep. Bunks were amazing and the staff was the best. Also the guides Josua, Ted, Cherry, and Nino are amazing!!

3 Nächte super geräumiges Zimmer mit Einzelbetten und Klima. Sehr sauber, das Team ist gut geschult. Die Küche könnte etwas Ausstattung ertragen. Vorallem Messer die Schneiden wäre ein Anfang. Bis ca 11 wird gefeiert dann ist die Musik auf moderater Lautstärke. Das einzige was schade ist, man darf überall rauchen. Direkt vor den Zimmern etc. Wo der Rauch natürlich und die Zimmer zieht. Sollte einfach eine Raucherzone eingerichtet werden. Das wäre Top für das schöne Hostel.

Bigfoot a été incroyable. L’ambiance y est chaleureuse et festive, parfaite pour rencontrer d’autres voyageurs du monde entier. Le personnel est super accueillant, toujours prêt à aider et à donner de bons conseils pour profiter au maximum des alentours.Les installations sont propres et bien entretenues, et les espaces communs invitent vraiment à la détente et aux échanges. I really enjoyed my stay here but be warned this is a party hostel so it will be loud and people will be friendly and want to socialise. If that’s not your vibe don’t stay here and look at people weird for wanting to have fun. The pod dorms are very spacious and the showers and toilets were always clean. Volcano boarding with them was a highlight of my trip.

Thank you do everything Bigfoot ! This hostel is hands down one of the best party hostels I’ve experienced. The atmosphere is always lively, the staff and volunteers go above and beyond to make sure everyone is having a great time, and it’s super easy to meet people. From the legendary volcano boarding to the party bus nights, there’s always something happening. If you’re looking for a social, fun, and slightly crazy experience in León, this is the place to be

The facilities are basic, but totally adequate. The staff are super friendly and helpful with local recommendations or activities. The Volcano boarding is a once in a lifetime experience and a must do.

Great hostel with nice capsule beds + AC. The volcano boarding tour was so fun too. They also have activities almost every night as well.

Fantastic hostel. I’d go as far to say it’s my favourite of all time - it has everything, social scene, excursions and facilities that just make travelling easier. 100/10 P.S. Megan is a legend, say hi to her if you see her behind the bar or at one of the events!

Süßes leichtes partyhostel, bietet eine super vulcano Boarding Tour an (war mega), hab auch hier leider nur Ventilatoren (10$ pro Tag für die Klimaanlage)

Really great hostel. Clean & comfy. Many showers/bathrooms. I thought there was no kitchen but there is a complete one witth a fridge. The A/C is too strong tho, it was too cold in the room at night. I’m not a party animal anymore so the Volcano boarding experience was at first a little bit uncomfortable for me, but SO WORTH IT. The staff is nice, everything is well organized and it makes the experience unforgettable. One of the best hostel I did in Nicaragua for sure.

best hostel experience i’ve ever had

I loveeeeddd this hostel. It was super clean, the dorm 3 was amazing since I had my own capsule to sleep in & the staff was amazing. I did the volcano boarding with them & even tho I don’t drink I had the best party bus experience ever. Pamela & Jeter, as well as the volunteers, really respected my boundaries and found ways to include me! Would def come back!

Me encantó la estancia aquí, el lugar es muy lindo, la gente que trabaja acá es súper servicial y siempre mantienen el lugar limpio Además los tours que ofrecen son muy buenos El ambiente del hostel es buenisimo , gracias a los voluntarios por hacer mi estadía en ese lugar mi mejor estadía en Nicaragua Diría que Bigfoot es de los mejores hostel en los que he estado

Staff are all so kind!!! There are activities almost every evening, and always quiet by midnight so you can still get some good sleep. The star of the show is of course volcano boarding — beautiful hike, so much fun, and the party bus!!
