Yosemite Bug Rustic Mountain Resort

When I made a reservation at Yosemite Bug Rustic Mountain Resort, I opted to pay a premium for a room that promised more privacy. However, upon my arrival, they assigned me to a shared dormitory with 12 other individuals. Despite my dissatisfaction and protest, they informed me that my preferred room was unavailable and that this was the only option they could provide. Their response displayed a complete lack of concern for my comfort and grievances, suggesting instead that I should be grateful

Leider schlechte Stornierungsbedingungen. Hatten falsch gebucht und auch auf mehrfache Nachfrage konnte der Gesamtbetrag von über 100€ (für 2 Personen für 1 Nacht) leider nicht erstattet werden. Zusätzlich hatte es geheißen, dass wir am nächsten Morgen zum „Manager“ des Hostels sollen und hier nochmals nachfragen. Auch hier zeigte man sich leider wenig einsichtig und wir konnten leider auf kein Entgegenkommen und zumindest eine Teilerstattung hoffen.

Personeel was niet echt behulpzaam en vrij cool in zijn communicatie. Het is wat je van een hostel verwacht. Voor een heel kleine kamer met slechte bedden op een gang met gemeenschappelijke badkamer zeer prijzig.

Konnte hier leider nicht schlafen. Es könnte an meinem Allergien gegen Staub gelegen haben.

Add a little love in the kitchen. (Cleanliness, too hot, small, former COVID restriction notes to be removed, etc) Employees are non existent, no guiding & suggestions to visit Yosemite. No overall atmosphere conducive to mingling. No advertisement of the swimming area. The food at the Café is very expensive. It would be nice to have some affordable foods on sale. It would be great to have a sign a few km before arriving indicating to turn left to arrive at the hostel. Update websit...

Given that we’re talking about the US, it’s a passable hostel (and at least one exists at all), and there is not much wrong with the place, just really nothing remarkable and it’s far from the park. It’s nice that there is a bus stop on the road. Food was expensive so I didn’t try the restaurant. Bed was comfortable enough but no curtains. Staff was aloof but mostly polite.

Honestly a very cool hostel but def more a camp feel. The bar was super cute and being in the woods is nice! But the rooms are very large and you have to go outside to get to the washrooms which isn't the worst but something to be prepared for

Ideal location for Yosemite however cafe options are limited at best. Dorm could hold 7 people but space would have been limited for even 4 people. Check in was very good and kitchen well equipped. Having stayed in other hostels in California there was no added bonus for guests such as complimentary toiletries which we did get at other properties. Feeling overall is that this option may not be best value for money and they may wish to make some changes to appease a wider range of travellers.

The jug bug cafe is good for a meal or 2, especially after a long day. Location is good to Yosemite and also local towns. There’s only 1 shower and toilet to share amongst many others so be prepared to wait or plan when you will use them. They won’t let you check in early so don’t even bother turning up until 3pm. A little overpriced for the shared tent option, the aircon is extremely load so make sure you bring earplugs.

A lot lower than our expectations. When checking in, we found the receptionist pretty rude and when we got to our room, there was no WiFi connection. Usually wouldn't mind, but as we're paying for it, it let the place down. Kitchen facilities were poor and unclean too. Food in the café was ridiculously expensive, and evening meal costs $23 and breakfast is $15. Feel like the hostel should be a lot better for the price we paid for it.

One of the best hostels I've stayed at!

We loved staying here! It‘s a bit of a drive to the park, but a very easy and enjoyable one :) this is the best value you can get for your money in/around yosemite for sure!! Only troubles we had were no paper towels in the bathroom and our door didn’t lock properly from the outside, but I‘m sure the staff would’ve fixed both immediately if we said something (as all the staff members we talked to were extremely friendly and competent) but it wasn’t that big of a deal to us.

Loved the spa and restaurant. Was amazing to use after a long day of hiking.

Great location and good price. The café was a nice touch, and breakfast was delicious! However, the cleanliness and maintenance of the rooms and property could use some improvement. Our bathroom door was difficult to close and lock, and the shower door had to be held shut while showering, or it would open and make everything wet—quite frustrating. That said, you get what you pay for, and if you’re looking to save money while traveling, I would definitely recommend this place.

Really nice hostel and atmosphere here. Feels like a small village. It took us one hour to get to Yosemite Valley, which was absolutely fine. Only thing that was a bit annoying was the door in our bathroom in our dorm, which was impossible to open quietly. Otherwise would definitely recommend.

If you’re a Solo backpacker this is probably the closest affordable place to stay to Yosemite, it’s still a 1 hour drive to Yosemite village but it’s a nice drive and well worth it, it didn’t have the same social vibe I’ve had at other hostels but everyone was arriving late and leaving early - no faults at all really.

Beautiful resort! Solo female traveler and it was very safe. The workers at the front desk were super nice and helpful when I needed anything. The bathroom is modern and always clean and bright. The bed and comforter were very cozy. My first solo trip and it was beautiful because of this resort. They have a very nice cafe, spa, and kitchen area to use.

Il posto è bellissimo, immerso nella natura. Ho preso una stanza condivisa con altre 5 ragazze (6 in tutto) e la stanza era pulitissima, bagno compreso. Una delle stanze più belle in cui abbia dormito durante questo road trip in California! Comodissima la cucina in comune (super ben organizzata e pulita) e hanno a disposizione anche un ristorante bar. Non potevo chiedere di meglio!

Lovely place and great to enter Yosemite (even by bus).

My stay at The Bug was incredible. It's about halfway between Merced and Yosemite Park so location wise it really works. The YARTS bus stops in front of the road and makes The Bug very accessible. I stayed in the female dorm rooms, they got cleaned every single day and had everything I needed (bring a lock!). It's all very cozy, there's a great vibe and everyone is friendly. The communal kitchen gets used by a lot of people but everyone looks after their own products with a great sticker system...

The food in the restaurant was pretty amazing!

Very useful for a budget visit to Yosemite. Approx 90min away from the centre of the valley and park, but easy and affordable journey on YARTS bus. Hostel worked well, friendly people and staff

Beautiful place, great amenities, we had a lovely stay. I just recommend some path lights because I couldn't see at night walking from my tent cabin to the bathrooms and the stairs were dangerous. Also some coat/towel hanging hooks on the walls or free-standing hanger in the tent cabin would be nice.

Stayed in the mixed dorm. Good facilities and location. Complimentary towel was a nice addition you don't often see in a hostel.

Das Hostel war wirklich gut, für das was es ist. Es war jetzt nicht übertrieben schön oder gut ausgestattet, aber man hat ein angenehmes Bett mit vielen Decken, falls einem kalt wird. Das Badezimmer ist auch sehr sauber gehalten und die duschen sind sehr heiß und haben einen guten Druck. Es wurde ein Handtuch und Schampoo/Spülung/Seife sowie ein Handtuch bereitgestellt was wirklich sehr praktisch ist falls man mit minimalen Gepäck anreist. Great time. The facilities were much better than I expected. this is the best bank for your buck kinda place and I will recommend it to everyone!
