Hostel owner acts like a mad Highschool teacher. The hostel is fairly clean but the hot pool bearly sees fresh water. Moldet toast in the kitchen and no looks at some of the bathrooms. If you wanna have a good social hostel wouldn’t recommend.

Broken curtains, windows and beds. Fairly clean bathrooms but dirty dorms. Good location but that’s really all.

The water was undrinkable, we got a bad stomach ache trying to drink it the first night and it was bad even for cooking thow it made everything taste like seaweed. The room also didn't have any ventilation and because it was raining our whole trip everything we brought started smelling like wet carpet. On top of that they didn't have lockers to safely put your stuff in.

The staff is welcoming and helpful. The location of the hostel is great, and beds are comfy. However, the hostel does not have lockers for your personal items. There is no shelves, railing, curtains for privacy on the beds. The bathroom and the kitchen are really not clean. It’s fine for a night, but would not recommend staying longer.

Didn’t enjoy my stay here at all. The dorm was really dark and smelled absolutely horrible, which made me not want to be in there. Staff were extremely loud until 2 am (even though there’s a curfew). Toilets need to be cleaned more often.

Not sure why this place has such good ratings. It’s not the worst hostel I’ve ever stayed in, but it’s definitely not above average. The soap situation was gross, the toilets and sinks were gross. I literally brought a fan, extension cord and power strip because other reviews said rooms are stuffy and don’t have plugs. That’s the only reason it was ok. Ca 10 qm with 5 beds, no locker. Would book that again.

The Hostel is in a grat location, rooms are sparce with minimal charging points and no secure luggage storage in the rooms.

This place has potential- it’s a great location, indoor/outdoor lounge space and has a cute beachy vibe BUT the beds are horrendous, the sheets gave me hives, the staff are not super welcoming and don’t really foster a community leaving a lot to be desired on the social side.

Good hostel - bit hot with no fan or AC in the rooms, not many showers or toilets but was never an issue. Charging ports further away from bed spaces and no bedside lamp. Sufficient for needs though! Kitchen and social areas do the job! Location is great, really handy for all things in Paihia and the beach! Maybe more social depending on the people staying there but wasn’t bad. Staff all very nice and friendly!

Staff are amazing friendly and welcoming and I never had fear of things going missing

Property was well located. The communal areas were full of everyone's stuff. Bird poo in the kitchen. Toilets were leaking. Our bed was on wheels and kept moving around the room. The live-in workers kept to their own group and did nights out together but there was no atmosphere for the people staying there. Hot tub was too dirty to get in. Crockery not washed up properly and not dried. The hostel was big, parking was difficult and not much space

Was a nice place to stay for 1 night. Close to shops, restaurants & the marina. Enjoyed Paihia.

Lovely staff and great location. Had everything we needed :) a basic kitchen but did what we needed.

Great area and nice facilities, but there was a lack of security, door to the room was hard to lock. Little way to complain when some residents were loud late at night.

Das Hostel war im Stadt zentrum, deshalb ein Katzen sprung vom Intercity Stopp und einkauf möglichkeiten entfernt. Die Küche war nicht gerade sauber und Besteck zu finden war eher schwierig. Das Hostel wird familiär geführt.

Perhaps I am spoiled by the hostels in Europe. This hostel needs to give attention to cleanliness and safety. Ie: better door locks. Staff must be there but one has to search for them.

This place was good value but you get what you pay for. Low cost, low frills. The man at the front desk was very abrasive and rude when communicating with other guests. Not sure how often toilets are serviced. Towels, toilet paper and soap infrequently replaced. This was fine for a short stay but wouldn't run back.

Locatie is goed. Keuken is groot en schoon. Echter geen kluisjes in de kamer aanwezig. Ook sluit de deur niet automatisch achter je. Mensen van de straat kunnen direct bij de dormroom komen zonder langs receptie te komen.

Basic and budget- fit for purpose but would not rush back. Staff were not unkind but were not too welcoming- they said about 10 words to us in 3 days. Bedroom door locked but did not feel secure. Facilities were very basic and incredibly run down. The whole place needed a simple refresh. However it was not too expensive so we did not expect much. Great location in a small town and fit our needs for a short stay.

Can't believe there are homophobic long-term stay guests there

Needed a chair in the room. No coffee whitening available. No shelves to place anything on.

Decent Hostel. You get, what you pay for. The rooms are very small and the bunk beds do not have any rail. There are no plugs, lights or storage spaces at the beds. The curtains are very narrow and the lights right outside the room kept the room bright all the time. Separate showers, toilets and sinks which could be a little bit cleaner.
