Disappointing stay and poorly handled bed bugs. Sadly my bed was unclean with clear signs of bed bugs. They moved my bed but denied any chance of bed bugs (which is obviously silly as bed bugs can occur anywhere). The worst part was staff were very unempathetic to me being upset. After a while they did agree to clean my things and gave a partial refund. Overall, bed bugs happen, but the staff made a stressful situation more stressful and did very little to make the bed safe for the next person.

Overall the hostel was nice: breakfast was really tasty and different every morning, the hammocks were fun to lay in, great views, spacious kitchen to cook. However, I am not sure if there were bed bugs and the staff threw out our food in the fridge and we had to hike the 40 min round trip back into town to get more.

Good: great view, good atmosphere to meet other travelers, friendly staff Not good: This hostel is pretty far from any river or water fall, and about a 15 minute walk into town. The rooms are small and over packed with beds. No AC in the rooms and no fans. I woke up with several bug bites despite the mosquito nets. The staff told us to eat at the nearby restaurant, but I later found that almost all of the other guests were able to get food right there at the hostel? The restaurant was good.
