Ambiente Hostel

I had a bit of trouble figuring out the key at first but ended up figuring it out after about 10 mins. They’re old skeleton keys so if you’re not used to them, you should ask the staff for a demonstration. The only other thing was that when I was leaving, I had a very early flight. I went to the kitchen around 6 am to wash a fork I had in my room and there was a staff member (I’m pretty sure because I’d seen him in the staff kitchen) in there cleaning up and he looked a bit annoyed that I was there. I don’t think we spoke the same language so I couldn’t express that I was sorry to impede on his cleaning time. But the rest of the staff was very nice and friendly towards me I also had read some reviews about bed bugs being at this place so I did a DEEP search before setting any of my stuff down and I didn’t find anything! I genuinely think that is just something that happens with hostels/hotels from time to time when they frequently have travelers coming in and out. They seem to be on top of it because my room was extremely clean when I stayed there.

It seems to be an ongoing problem that needs to be taken more seriously. I would have much rather paid for a night to sleep somewhere free of bed bugs and not have to spent my following travel days sorting through my luggage and trying to disinfect everything.

!BEDBUGS! Dont go there i noticed on the first night, didnt even sleeped in that bed, layed down got bitten two times, receptionist wasn't suprised, got my refund and stayed at a friend,

The beds were infected by fleeces or bedbugs and we got bites. This is something that has been reported by other guests too last year - it surprises me that this property still has 8+ rating.

bed bugs!!! the manager did refund me, but i got bed bug bites everywhere. with the reviews it looks like it’s happening to everyone. as a solo female traveller, i didn’t felt safe and confortable in this hostel. i left erlier.

Someone mentioned bed bugs but I didn't see any. Then again was only there to charge my phone for 40 mins each day

Je n’ai vu absolument personne… les serviettes étaient tachées, je me suis fait dévorée par des insectes la nuit (punaise de lit ?). Les salles de bain communes très spartiates et un peu sales. Le quartier est très mal famé, clochards, junky,… pas terrible d’y arriver de nuit…

This equates to hundreds of pounds that we've lost, not to mention our time. Secondly, I've travelled for 20 years across Europe, Latin America and Asia and have stayed in all types of accommodation. I have never encountered bed bugs before. This hostel just isn't prepared to take the necessary measures to deal with the problem and are happy for their guests to risk taking an infestation home with them. If you look on google reviews and other websites you will find plenty of reviews that show this is a long term problem.

On third night of our stay, I was bothered by bedbugs. When I presented the evidence of blood stains on the bed sheet in the morning, the person on duty had offered to disinfect the room along with our clothes and issue a money credit for that night. The room and clothes were disinfected, credit, however, hadn't been issued up to this day!

Bed Bugs - although we didn't have any on our bed (kept checking!!!). Another guest we met in the kitchen had bed bugs and checked-out. After looking at reviews on other websites it seems this is a big issue. For this reason I wouldn't stay here again.

bed bugs! We've been there for 2 nights in 2 different rooms and both were full of bed bugs :/ As per our own experience and other reviews it seems that this bed bugs problem is ongoing, thus I don't recommend staying in this hostel :c

Bettwanzen Plage anscheinend schon seit Jahren und nichts wird unternommen. Wir wurden schlimm zerbissen. Die befallenen Zimmer werden einfach wieder für den nächsten Gast hergerichtet. Das muss dem Gesundheitsamt gemeldet werden.

Prijs-kwaliteit gezien is het het niet waard. Ook waren er in andere kamers klachten over bed bugs, dus de hygiëne is in vraag te stellen.

Bedbugs issue!!!

Tuvimos una excelente estadia en el hostal. Sin duda las habitaciones son como las fotos o mejores. Nos gustó mucho la ubicación y el personal fue muy amable y atento. Lo único que podría restarle puntos es que nos picaron insectos la noche que dormimos ahí (podria ser pulga o chinches).

In unserem Zimmer gab es Bettwanzen. Nach einer schlaflosen Nacht wurde uns zwar eine Rückerstattung angeboten uns kam es aber nicht so vor als wäre das zum ersten Mal passiert. Da kein anderes Zimmer mehr verfügbar war mussten wir uns kurzfristig um eine andere Unterkunft kümmern. Unsere Klamotten, die wir anhalten wurden ohne Diskussion vom Hostel gewaschen, jedoch können sich Bettwanzen auch über das sonstige Gepäck übertragen. Generell schließt das auf schlechte Hygiene.

BEDBUGS!!! A lovely woman came into the kitchen when we were having breakfast in the morning covered head-to-toe in bedbug bites explaining that she’d been eaten alive by bedbugs. Reading the previous reviews, this has clearly been a recurring problem. Luckily the bedbugs weren’t present on my bed. The hostel itself is a lovely place, good facilities and nice atmosphere. Would say it’s about 30mins walk from the centre & close to the metro line but not busy so not ideal for solo travellers.

Nada más llegar nos encontramos una chinche. El penúltimo día por la noche nos dimos cuenta de que también había sangre de chinches en las sábanas. Además, mi pareja acabó con muchísimas picaduras de chinche en los 3 días que nos quedamos. Tampoco tienen un número de emergencia a quién llamar hasta las 10 que venga la encargada de recepción. También decir que he ido a hostales más baratos bastante mejor cuidados.

Bitten by bed bugs here, found them on my bed curtain and coming out of the floorboards. Edit to the response from the hostel: There are old detailed reviews dating back from 2019 on other sites saying the building is infested with bed bugs and it’s difficult to control due to the building containing a lot of wood. After travelling for the last 11 months through Asia and Europe, this is the first encounter of bed bugs we have had. Budget accommodation doesn’t mean bed bugs are a given. We notified the staff as soon as we noticed all the bites and it didn’t come as a surprise when we did. The staff were definitely kind enough to offer a refund and put our clothes in the dryer, however while we were waiting for our clothes in the dryer we saw the staff strip our beds and remake them ready for the next guests. This is extremely deceitful as I’m sure future guests aren’t notified and there were also other people staying in our dorm who were out at the time that weren’t evacuated or notified by staff that their belongings may have bed bugs (we were in contact with them). This really tainted our stay in Lisbon.

ACHTUNG: BETTWANZEN Zunächst war ich vom Hostel begeistert, es ist schön eingerichtet, hat eine Küche und große Zimmer und die Lage fand ich auch Klasse. Allerdings bemerkte ich am Tag nach meiner Abreise überall Bettwanzen-Bisse an meinem Körper. Wie ich dann in neueren Kommentaren sah, schien dies den Besitzern/Mitarbeitenden auch bekannt zu sein und ich finde es sehr frech die Gäste dann noch in den Zimmern/Betten schlafen zu lassen.

ACHTUNG: BETTWANZEN und es wird sich nicht gekümmert!!! / ATTENTION: BEDBUGS, but nobody cares!!! Meine Freundin und ich haben für eine Woche in diesem Hostel geschlafen. Nach den ersten Nächten bemerkte meine Freundin Bisse an ihrem Körper, die sie zunächst für Mückenstiche hielt. Es kamen jedoch immer mehr über die Zeit unseres Aufenthalts hinzu. Wir dachten uns zunächst nichts schlimmes, bis meine Freundin Zuhause an einem Tuch, das im Hostel am Bett gehangen hatte, Bettwanzen gefunden hat. Ausgewachsen

The room description was misleading as I looked for a room with bathroom but the small print in “details” said it was shared . Doesn’t say Room with shared bathroom which I did not want Then: the room was infested with bedbugs!!!! Terrible experience !

No fans or air con in rooms and was very hot. We also had bed bugs in our bunks. Would not recommend

Bedbugs, staff tried to hide it and were rude to guests about it.

*****BED BUGS**** There were bedbugs and they've been hiding it. Two people in my room were covered in bites; like 15-20 bites. we found a couple actual bedbugs to confirm. Another person started warning everyone in the hostel about the bedbugs and the staff kicked her out of the hostel for it. if you look online for "ambiente hostel bedbugs" you can find posts about this.

Unfortunately, my stay would rate negatively. The biggest downside was that on the last day of our stay we found bedbugs in the room. As a consequence, I would not recommend this experience to anyone. The elevator is crazy, it stutters, and the hostel is located on the third floor of an apartment building. Contact with the staff is also a big problem: they do not write back messages or answer the phone. Moreover, there is often no one at the reception desk. On the last day, my husband went to pick up his luggage from the hostel's storage room. He entered through the open door of the building, then through the open door of the hostel (without giving the code), and there was no one at the reception desk either. This raises a lot of concerns about security at this facility. I do not recommend it, although the place itself is pretty.

The receptionist was lovely and helped with everything from the very beginning of our stay. I am a bit concerned about the hostel's cleanliness, as I got bitten at many different places overnight, and the bites definitely did not come from mosquitoes - most probably bed bugs or fleas. Other than that, the hostel's location was okay, and interacting with others was not too bad (ignoring exceptions, of course).

My friend and I woke up each morning in our cold rooms along with our fellow dorm mates with blocked noses and the frequent cough, only to realise the walls are damp due to disinfectant bug spray along all the crown moulding in the ceiling. I also found a bed bug alive on my sheet the last morning, when I went to let the staff know, I was told our room was being closed for disinfection the day we were departing. So if that won't turn you off staying here, I don't know what will.

The beds weren't clean anyway, but worst of all we got bitten by bedbugs at night. I had an allergic reaction, he said that you can go to the pharmacy when i show the owner of the hostel the allergic reaction. There was a drug cost of 20 euros because of my bugs allergie. They did not refund our accommodation money or the pharmacy money. Booking reviews can be deceiving, if you look at google reviews, you can see much more realistic reviews. They have been having this problem for almost months and they never really disinfect it.

Staff was kind and helpful but the place would need to be closed for at least a couple days to get rid of the severe bed bugs infestation. The situation is very bad, I have spent a week there as I could not afford any other accomodation, during this week I have been bitten around 50-60 times. Every other guest complained about the same problem. I also had to disinfect all my clothes and luggages which turned out being a pretty expensive operation. I finally managed to leave earlier and they actually refunded the nights in which I did not sleep, of course I still had to pay for the nights in which I "slept" there, I did not receive any compensation for the damages brought by the numerous bites. I'm not leaving one star only because they actually did refund the nights in which I did not sleep there (even tho, due to the gravity of the situation, a full refund would have been appreciated, also to cover the expenses I had to encounter to disinfect my belongings) and some of the people working there (particularly the lady who does the cleaning) have been particularly understanding and helpful. However, shame to the owner for clearly knowing about this and still keeping the place open. Bed bugs can and do travel from one room to the other and they can hide everywhere. Close it down until you get it 100% disinfected.

Bed Bugs Unfortunately, we got bed bugs after staying at this hostel. We know this is not specifically a matter of hygiene, but actually the staff should “inspect” the bed and see whether there are bed bugs every time the sheets get changed. All our roommates were affected as well. Apparently, the staff found out about the problem before anyone of us told the employees about it. But no one came to us or seemed to do anything against it. We then wrote an email to get a statement two weeks ago, and still have not received an answer yet. From our point of view the management/persons responsible should at least respond to the issue.

TIENEN UN GRAVE PROBLEMA DE CHINCHES!!! en sus habitaciones. Tuve que cancelar mi reservación al segundo día ya que me habían picado en todo el cuerpo. NO LO RECOMIENDO!!

Tienen muchas chinches en sus habitaciones y colchones. La atmosfera es muy buena y el personal super amable. Bonita decoracion, todo bien ordenado y señalizado. Sin embargo no vale la pena si no tienen una correcta limpieza en sus habitaciones. Recomendado si sus opciones son dormir en la calle/aeropuerto.

El hostal me gustó porque parecía un piso grande y el ambiente me gustó. Sin embargo, tuve chinches en la cama lo que baja mi opinión del hostal mucho. Además, las taquillas de dentro de la habitación eran muy pequeñas y no entraban mochilas. Como punto positivo la habitación tenía una terraza muy grande.

A severe bedbug infestation the owner lies about. Many bugs of all ages in the room, and many bites. :(

The place is well organized and decorated, quit beautiful. The room I stay had a beautiful terrace. The kitchen is well equipped and common area is clean. The owner is nice, he even treat us homemade pancakes. But the reason I gave this rating is because of bed bugs. I got bite a lot, I found around 30 bite on my skin at the day I left this hostel. I was not aware of it and thought it was mosquito at first two days. It was my worst memory in Portugal since it keep me itchy for two weeks and I was afraid to bring them home. Apart from that, the hostel located at 4th floor but the elevator is broken. I got stuck inside one time and luckily I can connect the wifi from upstairs and got rescue from them. But still not working after they rescue me, so I never taken that again. Another thing is some of the people in room talk loud even at night time, which is very annoying.
