La maggior parte dei bagni stretti, senza appendini o mensole, lavandini microscopici, il mio materasso aveva le cimici da letto e dopo 7 giorni ero pieno di punture

Das Positive: Die JH hat eine super Lage! Unschlagbar! Der Eingang und die Mensa sind sehr modern. Ebenfalls gefiel mir die tägliche Vegane und Vegetarische Alternative bei der Essensauswahl. Die Zimmer sind schlicht und größtenteils sauber. Abzüge: Die Fenster lassen sich leider nur anklappen. In einem Zimmer mit 6 Betten und einem Fenster wird es so sehr warm und stickig, selbst wenn das Fenster durchgehend geöffnet ist. In einem Zimmer wurden Silberfische in der Dusche gefunden. *kreisch* Das Wasser und der Saft , welche zum Frühstück gereicht wurden, schmeckten stark nach Spülmittel. Mit Bettwanzen waren wir auch geplagt.

BIG WARNING for wheel-chair travelers - very unfriendly service people: When I was visiting Hamburg in October I was arriving at that Youth Hostel without a pre-booking, driving my VW T4 Dehler camper. I was still disabled because of a motorcycle accident need to use my wheelchair. And I had a serious problem with the engine of my VW bus, the chain for the electricity machine was broken, I came there with low light. And first I faced an iron barrier where I needed to talk to the reception befor I get entry at all. That means, a disabled person with problems of her or his ears but driving legally a car could not have been able to access the parking places of this youth hostel at all. Than I parked my VW bus at the parking slot for disabled people. Than I tried to fetch the elevator on order to access the main entry and the reception. I used sticks for my own walking because I could not even run up the stairways. When I entered the reception asking for a room it took ages, where I used my cellphone to do some business calls. One of the young blond ladies accused me already for using the disabled parking slot, that I should instantly show my disabled pass or shall remove my VW. I took it easy and went on with my cellphone calls. Than I moved through a door to a warmer place inside the hostel to go on with my calls, getting disturbed again and again by one of these young ladies from the reception that I was not allowed to use that space when I did not check in. I told these ladies that my check-in is actually in the middle of the procedure of one of the ladies at the reception. Suddenly 2 policemen came and asked me for my papers. Surprisingly the ladies called the police to let me kick out. Luckily the policemen helped me with my wheelchair to the street. My VW bus was still standing at the parking slot for disabled people. I showed the policemen that the engine doesn't work and they confirmed, the engine doesn't even start anymore because the battery was empty. And the policemen gave me his business card with his telephone number because the blond lady at the reception was telling me when I do not put my car away from the parking slot they will call a professional service to let my car remove on my costs. I was calling a taxi and drove to a hotel. Next day the Germaqn ADAC came along and they repaired the chain. And even than one of the youth hostel employees became aggressive to me and shouting to me. I am really surprised about such rude behaviour of young employees in Hamburg, they treated me like a gangster. And they have no clou that I was working for 16 years as a journalist for private and public tv in Germany and though I don't accept rude people at all, neither girls either boys even these underpaid and under-educated workers in a Youth Hostel in Hamburg. This incident is reported to the DJH management. And read also other very bad reviews at tripadvisor, other people are complaining about bed bugs and other catastrophical hygeniecal issues.
