Fontaineblhostel

We camped in the hostel's garden for the first time. The garden is beautiful – blossom trees, birds chirping, nice grassy area. You can hear the nearby main road, though, especially during peak traffic, but that's a very minor concern. The amenities are very basic. No clue why this hostel is so highly rated. Probably the dirtiest hostel I've ever visited. The pictures on Google come nowhere near how it actually looks. Seems like there's no staff, just the owner, who's barely around, so I couldn't tell him about the clogged shower. In the 6 days I was there nothing was cleaned even once. Showers have mud & hair everywhere. Every room has dust on the ceiling corners. There's random junk everywhere (old fitness equipment, piles of old magazines, clutter). Mos...

Spams annoying Flyers to all parking cars in sorrounding boulder areas every day.

We didn't stay here but reserved 2 mats over email weeks before we arrived in Font. When we arrived to pick them up, we learnt that they only had small mats left (they explained to us all the big mats were taken by people staying here). The mats were very thin, very small, very old, and one of them had broken straps so was difficult to carry. We didn't have any choice because it was Easter and many mat renting places had rented out all the mats (we contacted a few). Luckily we hired a big mat e...

Zufahrt nur schwer zu erkennen und Einfaht mit einem VW Bus sehr eng. Hecken und Rasen nicht gemäht. Der Gastgeber war sehr freundlich, jedoch bei der Ankunft nicht anwesend, obwohl wir die Ankunftszeit angeben mussten. Platz wäre schön, wenn gepflegt. WC und Küche nicht gepflegt resp. nicht sauber. EUR 20 pro Person pro Nacht mit VW Bus definitiv zu teuer.

Ich kann nicht verstehen wie die guten Bewertungen zustande gekommen sind. Der betreiber ist sehr nett, aber das wahrs dann auch schon. Es war sehr schmutzig in allen sanitären Bereichen. Inkl. Küche. Der Campingbereich war nicht gemäht und gepflegt. Für die Durchfahrt würde das ganze ja reichen, wenn da der preis pro Person nicht 20 Euro kosten würde.

Staff and the vibe at the hostel are great. The garden is very nice - grass, trees and birds... Unfortunately, the noise from the nearby road ruins it all. I don't understand why other reviewers don't raise it. It's impossible to sleep without good earplugs and if someone finds sleeping with them uncomfortable, they will have a bad time.

Cool, dass man hier die Wäsche waschen und sich duschen kann und . Das WLAN ist aber ziemlich langsam und die Campingkosten sind recht pricy.

Great place for the solo traveler. La Chappelle is a 45 minute walk to Elephant boulders, but you will want a car to explore the rest of Font bouldering. Patrick is an excellent host. There is a large supermarket about 1 km away. The hostel has a good kitchen and plenty of space in the fridges. I recommend the hostel and would stay there again

I really enjoyed my stay. The staff are so welcoming and do a very good job in my opinion. The hostel had everything I needed, and it was nice I could experience Fontainebleau without needing to rent a car or bring crash pads. Thank you!!

When I first came to Fontainebleau 3 years ago I had picked this spot because it was close to crags and had pads, but I have come back, and plan to keep coming back because of the amazing staff, and even better community and energy that is always there. the managment is outstanding! perfect to go for bouldering, clean showers and kitchen, quiet campsite and nice people.

Stayed here two years ago and recently a friend brought up this wonderful memory! This hostel was awesome, met many new climbing friends here and easily rented a crash pad. I also felt very safe here as a solo woman traveller. The owner was super nice! I got injured while climbing and he made the trip to pick me up and give me a ride back to the hostel. He even gave me a little tour of the town on the trip back.

The hostel is beautiful and well-located within walking distance of beautiful climbing areas of Elephant and Dame Jouanne. Everyone was very friendly at the hostel. Our hosts went above and beyond to help us out and make our stay special. When I injured myself climbing, i was offered medical assistance and support which made a difficult situation so much more manageable. I want to say a big thank you to Natacha and Patricia. I very much look forward to coming back when I am healthy!

For me, as a solo bikepacker, it's a wonderful place to feel comfortable and socialize with the community. The kitchen and common room are well-equipped and organized, and most people treat each other with respect. Thank you for the great time. Bless you all!

I had a great stay at the hostel. Parick and his family are wonderful hosts always trying to help. The hostel is well managed and clean. They have a gentle but firm way of ensuring that guests are considered towards other guests and the shared facilities. Really nice atmoshere.

Great vibes, accommodating staff, great amenities, affordable--everything you could want in a hostel! It was our favorite of our whole Europe trip.

Kind Host, wonderful strangers

Patrick was an incredible host with plenty of local knowledge to offer and a lovely guy! The hostel was in a great location: Bouldering (20 minute walk from L'elephant) Fantastic bakery down the road for that morning climbing fuel 15 minute walk to a supermarket Great Kebab shop and pizza place within 1 minute walk There was cooking equipment and cutlery, fridges and freezers for use, even tea, coffee, salt, sugar, etc.. Amazing stay! I went to Fontainebleau for climbing with a few friends and the hostel was a great experience. It is not luxurious, but it was a great place for the price we paid. There was a common room where you could play some card games or chat with other people, which was really fun. Enough to do when you are not climbing!
