Hostel SaltWater

We stayed here a few months ago and unfortunately had a very negative experience. One evening, just outside the hostel, we were threatened at knife point. When we reported this, the security guard on duty was very young and did not take any action. The hostel owners later became involved but were dismissive and unhelpful — instead of supporting us, they suggested we were making it up. Wouldn’t recommend- they try to charge and extra 10 USD for WiFi, staff rude and breakfast a 2/5

Overall it was a fine place to rest your head for a night, close in town but off the main drag. Sheets and bedding did not seem clean. Not much of a social vibe but overall fine for a night or two

The dorm was big but smelled bad, and it was sooo warm in there, and almost no lights. This is a good hostel to rest, people go to bed early and are very quiet. The kitchen was bad and the water filter didn’t feel safe to me. So haven’t drink any water there

Definitely not the best hostel I’ve been. I had a dorm with 10 beds. First night was great, but the hostel was empty. If you wanna socialize and meet backpackers, it’s not the place. Second night was awful. A family with 4 kids got like 8 beds in the dorm and it was a nightmare. I’ve been in many hostels and I know dorms can be noisy, but I never had kids running around and people being so disrespectful in the morning. A hostel should not put a family with kids in the same room as backpack...

- Kitchen was a conplete mess (Dirty Plates, Used Pans and food all over the kitchen) - Waterfilter doesn‘t really work wenn the hostel is fullybooked. It only drips out. No chance to fill a whole bottle. - Rooms were really hot - Lower beds have courtons, upper bads don‘t - Locker was broken

it’s okay. it’s located uphill from the main square. not much to do, not a lot of activities. very hot in the room and really small kitchen.

I didn’t love my stay here. The hostel felt kind of dirty and had a strange smell. The atmosphere wasn’t great either. If you’re looking for something walkable to the main beach, this has that, but the main beach isn’t great anyways so it’s not the best selling point.

Overall it was good. We paid for breakfast and they made us choose the day before for the option that we preferred. By the time that we were going to eat they did not have that option no more. I went to the reception looking for a resolution and the lady basically said that I had to eat the only option left (which I did not ask because I did not like it). So what’s the point in asking in advance for the meal and the time if they are not going to prepare it? A bit disappointing tbh

L’hostel est situé à 5 minutes à pied du centre, un peu à l’écart, belle tranquillité. Or, près de plusieurs maisons abandonnées avec des SDF qui peuvent t’aborder lorsque tu rentres en soirée (menace au couteau pour $ ou offre des services sex.) Le dortoir était confortable. Plusieurs coins pour chiller dans la cour. 3 choix de déjeuner, très bon. Bon rapport qualité/prix, je recommande tout de même. Not the worst, not the best. Check in is at 1pm, not 12. There were no towels included. The kitchen is very small, ok to cook but not even ONE towel to dry dishes or clean the counter. No filtered water. The included breakfast is alright but it was 20 mins late both mornings. Our roommate got back in our dorm just to catch the cleaning lady GOING THROUGH HER WALLET. The bathroom is ok but needs hooks. My sheets were stained and there was trash in my personal space. Location and view are good.

Great location for a good price. Breakfast included is a nice touch. However, the facilities are pretty mediocre; the biggest issue is that the top bunks don’t have curtains, something that I don’t recall ever experiencing at past hostels.

It’s not really a social hostel, but it has some lovely chill areas to relax. The kitchen is quite basic, could use more equipment and better cleaning. Mixed dorms could be improved, when I arrived there was no space for my backpack (no locker or corner), which was uncomfortable until I could switch beds and get a locker. Location is okay, but I felt a bit unsafe walking back at night as a woman. Some street security would help!! 🙏

Great place to chill !!

El hostel es comodo y tranquilo. El único problema que tuve es que dejé olvidadas unas zapatillas y cuando regrese a buscarlas no estaban mas. El desayuno esta bien, el wifi funciona bien y las habitaciones tienen varios baños.

great chill hostel in San Juan del Sur, a good place to get some rest away from the partying. lots of hammocks to chill in, a deck to watch the sunset, free breakfast included was great. dorms are spacious with comfy beds. showers are cramped but fine. sweet and helpful staff. highly recommend

Absolutely loved my week in saltwater! free breakfast pancakes were huge and delicious! The women who work here are so friendly and j moved beds and extended without any difficulty. Full kitchen/fridge, en-suites with several showers + extra toilets outside! The hammocks/ seating is amazing to chill, socialise, eat and study or do work. The WiFi is excellent and the hostel is very comfy. Each bed has a fan and I always slept so good! Perfect location and a pretty perfect hostel. Thank you girls

Decent hostel for a night or two due to affordability. Don’t do laundry here, two of my white tees got ruined by their laundry service

This was my favorite hostel in San Juan del sur. The breakfast is great, bottom bunks have a privacy curtain, nice spot to chill with a beautiful view. They don’t host any social events and some of the information they have is outdated.

Great place to stay, very quiet compared to other hostels. Can get busy on the weekends with locals and have found it to be quite loud but other than that it’s a great place to stay.

Everything was amazing: cheap hostel, very clean, yummy and big breakfast, big lockers, nice shower. Only thing is there were issues with the toilet flush working.

El estaff, la dueña y el hermano son muy amables y te hacen pasar un buen rato, el desayuno es muy bueno y las habitaciones muy comodas con lockers grandes. Todo es muy limpio y con areas comunes muy lindas

beautiful view, close to the city, staff was great and a lot of breakfast options. just don’t do your laundry there (they charge more for women clothes than men clothes)

Great spaces to hang out, a lovely breakfast and helpful staff. Short walk down the hill to the beach. Pretty quiet / not a social atmosphere. Private room was okay - very warm and bathroom was pretty mouldy - but a cheap price so overall an okay stay.

pretty chill hostel in San Juan, was one of the view guests when I stayed there but all of San Juan was kind of empty. the rooma are a little warm, but their are plenty of fans to fix that, breakfast is pretty good and diverse and many chill spaces to relax.

Super Hostel mit netten Angestellten, gutes Frühstück, saubere Zimmer (wir hatten ein Privatzimmer), falls etwas nicht funktioniert hat, wurde das Problem direkt behoben. Lage mit toller Sicht für den Sonnenuntergang.
