Good location, meet nice people from around the world, reception staff were friendly, only problem was when after staying a few days, we began to get bed bug bites, we showed the bites to the reception and they told us that they could be mosquito bites or spiders or anything else. We are from Canada, we know very well what mosquito bites look like and this was not it. Staff kept denying it until I caught one in a container on my pillow minutes after waking up and brought it down. There was no denying it was a bed bug. I have the most bites, many on both my arms. Very itchy. Staff and reception were unapologetic. We wanted like a discount or something for getting the bites or we are planning to move to a different hostel or air bnb, so my mom spoke to reception to ask for a discount and they said that we should wait until 8am the next morning to talk with their boss. 8am comes and my mom talks to her, they keep downgrading it and saying that it was our fault, that we brought the bugs in, but we came to this hostel right after the airport and we only planned to stay at this hostel for our trip. They do not want to admit that their hostel room gave us bed bug bites. Cleaning staff said they couldn’t find any bugs and stated we don’t have any but we clearly have bites on our arms. Staff didn’t change our sheets. They also say that this is the first time they have ever had bugs (also subtly saying it could be our fault) but we checked their reviews and it says they had bed bugs in March already and handled it worse. The staff fumigated our room and when we walked in our room our things were pushed to the side and some on the floor. Gave us a new room but we found a live bed bug in our new room. They said they they fumigate every two weeks, highly doubt that. It seems everything goes dandy until they give you bed bug bites and then your impression of them changes. It’s not that we despise this place, I enjoyed playing the ping pong game downstairs and wanted to try playing some of the other games downstairs too, I actually became pretty fond of this place but now that we got bed bug bites and their protocol is not good and they’re not handling it well we’ll probably leave. This hostel seems to have a legacy of not handling bed bugs well, which is not good because it seems to happen here often. Now we need to follow our own protocol for when we get home, we need to make sure the bugs don’t get into our beds at home :( such a hassle and we don’t even get a formal apology from the hostel that gave the bugs to us. If they would have taken it seriously from the start it would not have gotten this bad. Hope they clean our room for the next people and they don’t get bed bugs and have to go through being told they have never had bed bugs before and that it may be their fault and deny it until they bring a live bug down to them too. In conclusion, good hostel, just hope you don’t get a room with bed bugs. #itchy #irritatedemotionallyandphysically

Staff very nice and helpful to get oriented. Things turned sour when, 3 days into our stay, we showed staff bites on our arms - they said maybe mosquitoes or spider, repeatedly implying we might have brought them in (hostel was our first and only stay)-quite insulting :( Only admitted they are bed bugs when we brought them a bed bug. Room got fumigated, our clothes thrown on the floor. No refund, only 30% discount offered for following days. Got a new room, found a bed bug on shelf, moved out.

Vibe-Analyse
