+ Literally nothing. There wasn’t a single thing to like about this place

- Oh boy where do I even begin! This is literally the worst hostel I have ever stayed. There were just so many issues. But the most annoying thing was the cleanliness of the beds and the blankets. In most cases we modern people have a case for a blanket or a quilt. And we have been doing this for so many years. But in this hostel, they give you a smelly piece of cloth to place between your body and the blanket which only god knows when it was washed last time. I checked on the internet, it seems like people in the ancient Egypt did this. Everything about the bed just smells. It doesn’t give you the feeling that anything on the bed was washed recently. I also checked some prisons in certain countries and I swear they have much better conditions than what this hostel provides to its paying customers, where the prisoners don’t have to pay anything for better conditions. I know it sounds crazy and I just wanted to explain it with a little bit of humour. But it’s really sad that in 2026, we still have such terrible facilities. And the saddest part is that you can get a much better experience for the same cost in an another hostel. Other issues; - no hangers for clothes in the rooms - music playing even after midnight at the reception and the rooms nearby get all the noise - not sanitary bathrooms - staff girls flirting with customers in the middle of the night in the corridors and inviting them to a bar one block from the hostel Just stay away from this hostel. Don’t waste your money.

- Funcionária em específico da Laura, fiquei 15 dias mais ou menos, sempre que iria falar algo era dispersa de mau humor péssimo atendimento. Sem falar em uma situação que aconteceu, eles têm quartos grandes e fiquei em um que a cama a qual eu estava ficava próximo da porta, então um dia um senhor brasileiro ele era hóspede também, levantou da cama dele e era umas 03:00 da manhã o tempo em Lisbon está extremamente frio é inverno e abriu a porta, então falei senhor são 03:00 da manhã o senhor vai abrir a porta? ele disse sim o quarto está fedendo a chulé, eu disse o senhor não pode fazer isso está muito frio e eu estou muito próximo da porta isso vai me fazer mal. Ele começou a falar palavras de baixo calão e eu respondi a altura porque não iria ficar calada com um monstro daquele falando merda. E ele disse você é do nordeste, eu disse sim sou de lá mesmo com muito orgulho. Até xenofobia passei nesse hostel. Fiquei assustada e quando levantei fui na recepção e comuniquei o acontecido mais ninguém veio conversar comigo a respeito.

- No momento do check-in, foi-me cobrado um depósito de 10 € pelo cartão de acesso. No entanto, desde o primeiro dia, o cartão que me foi entregue já apresentava uma fissura. Era difícil de notar inicialmente, mas um dos funcionários também confirmou posteriormente a existência do dano. Apesar disso, recusaram-se a devolver o depósito de 10 €, alegando que se trata de uma regra do hostel. Esta justificativa não faz sentido, uma vez que o dano não foi causado por mim. Além disso, houve uma funcionária em particular que se limitou repetidamente a dizer que “não pode fazer nada”, recusando-se a ajudar a resolver a situação e insistindo em não devolver o depósito. A gestão do hostel, representada pela responsável Inês, também não permitiu qualquer oportunidade de explicação, insistindo em reter os 10 €, mesmo quando os factos estavam claramente do meu lado. Nunca encontrei um hostel tão irracional quanto este.

- When I checked in, they charged a €10 deposit for the key card. However, from the very first day, the key card they gave me already had a crack. It was difficult for me to notice at first, but one of their colleagues later also noticed it. Despite this, they refused to return the €10 deposit, claiming that it is the hostel’s policy. This makes no sense, because the damage was clearly not caused by me. There is one female staff member in particular ISABELLA who kept saying “she can’t do anything” and refused to help resolve the issue, insisting on not returning the €10 deposit. I tried to let her explain everything to the manager, but she did not even explain my reason to the manager to help the situation out. And she talked all in Portuguese, which she thought I do not speak, but I understood well. This was almost cheating, I do not like her attitude. I have never encountered such an unreasonable hostel before.

- For those who have buses leaving from the Sete Rios terminal at 9:15 am, I had a terrible experience. They started putting out the breakfast items at 8:28 am and hadn't finished before 8:40 am. Check the cameras. A LITTLE RESPONSIBILITY AND RESPECT GO A LONG WAY!

- The vibe of the room is a prison cell, so basic with no privacy. The lockers were not big. Got bitten by bed bugs & we asked for our money back and stayed elsewhere. They did not refund for the night that I got bitten, as we stayed there already. Money took around 5-6 weeks to get back to me after numerous asks and follow ups for the other 2 nights. Refused to give city tax back (4 of us paid this for 3 nights) which is bs, they could have copped the loss & do the right thing and refunded us the city tax too. Poor form considering the cost and situation.

+ L’emplacement

- Nous avons séjourné à l’Urban Garden Hostel en août 2025, et c’est de loin la pire expérience d’hébergement que nous ayons connue. Dès notre arrivée, nous avons été accueillis… par un problème de punaises de lit. Deux voyageuses canadiennes nous ont montré leurs nombreuses piqûres et nous ont prévenus que le problème était déjà connu dans plusieurs chambres. Nous avons été déplacés dans une autre chambre, pensant que cela réglerait la situation. Le lendemain matin, nous avons découvert des traces de punaises de lit sur notre matelas et un autre client nous a confirmé avoir été piqué quelques jours plus tôt. Le pire ? L’établissement refuse tout remboursement de la première nuit, alors que les conditions d’hébergement étaient insalubres et anxiogènes. Le personnel s’est montré totalement désinvolte face au problème, comme si cela faisait partie de la normalité. En résumé : propreté inexistante, infestation de punaises de lit, gestion déplorable des réclamations. Nous ne remettrons jamais les pieds ici et nous conseillons à tous les voyageurs d’éviter cet endroit.

+ Las camas muy comodas, el personal muy atento con excelente disposicion para ayudarte en lo que necesites, cerca de los sitios turisticos, zona muy linda y tranquila

+ Mir hat gut gefallen, dass die Inneneinrichtung sehr ansprechend und "cool", im Sinne von modern war. De Aufenthaltsraum war ausgestattet mit Ladestationen, sodass man dort auch arbeiten könnte. Es gab eine kleine "Terrasse" für RaucherInnen. Jedes Bette hatte eine eigene Steckdose und einen Locker in der Nähe. Man konnte bei Bedarf seine Wäsche aufhängen. Die Gemeinschaftsküche war sauber und gut ausgestattet.

- Die Stockbetten waren leider nicht wirklich stabil. Ich lag oben und habe jede Bewegung der unteren Person gespürt. Vorhänge o.Ä. am Bett wären cool, um bei einer großen Personanzahl Privatsphäre zu ermöglichen. Schade fand ich, dass ich mein Gepäck am Abreisetag nicht dort lagern konnte, obwohl ich vorher gefragt hatte. (War aber glaub ich ein unglücklicher Zufall, da an diesem Tag Umbauarbeiten im Hostel stattfanden).
