Aborest Tropical Hostel

+ Location was good, looked good from the outside and at first glance, people welcomed you at first

- People turned on you! The staff got ruder as the days went on, we stayed 9 days and got no courtesy, they tried to charge extra for towels, the sauna, no hot water in the spa, rooms dirty not cleaned well, nails sticking out all over the floors very painful, tvs did not work, fridges were broken and hot! Ac units kept breaking, slippers were used and damaged, robes too small provided women’s for my husband, toilet hose leaking, bedsheets smelly and dirty, breakfast staff were rude and stated making us very uncomfortable and they kept taking food for themselves! Any time we tried to call for help they left us waiting hours.

- This hotel was honestly a huge disappointment. It’s extremely old, dusty, and badly in need of updates. My allergies were triggered the entire stay because of how dusty the room was. The photos online are very misleading and do not reflect the actual condition of the hotel at all. We had to change rooms because the first one had an awful smell, like an old grandparents’ room mixed with lingering odors from previous guests. The only solution offered was moving us to another room that had clearly just been sprayed with some kind of deodorizer, which didn’t fix the issue, just covered it up. The shower setup is terrible. It’s a slippery bathtub with a loose bathtub shower head, so the water pressure moves it around and sprays water everywhere. No matter how careful we were, the bathroom floor ended up flooded every time, creating a safety hazard. Clogged sinks every single day We found cockroaches — one on my makeup bag and another on the bed. Completely unacceptable. Breakfast was poor overall, except for the egg station. The room appliances felt cheap and outdated, and there were no outlets next to the bed, only by the TV, which makes no sense. I don’t blame the staff, but a lot needs to be done. It honestly blows my mind that this place charges what it does when the Ibis across the street is much better for way less money. This hotel is extremely overpriced for how outdated, dirty, and uncomfortable it is. I would not stay here again.

- Give this hotel a miss, there’s so many places where you can get more for the same money. Our room had windows looking at a wall. And no natural light, there’s no mention of that on Booking.com in the photographs suggest there is a window. The room was old and dingy and I felt like I was in someone’s old basement. The room had a few mosquitoes flying about, I don’t know where they came from. The workers started making noise at 6:30 AM in the hallway with a circular floor polishing machine and I had to ask them to be quiet, but by then I couldn’t get back to sleep. Do I really need to ask that in a hotel at 6:30 AM? Furthermore, whatever they were using on the floors left a toxic smell which had nowhere to go since we had no windows. They still shouted up and down the hallway, even after the machine was shut down and were asked to be quiet. The swimming pool was ice cold and I couldn’t even get in. They charge extra for the bottled water which is normally free and cheaper hotels. Way overpriced for what it is, shop around you can do better. The pictures make it look nicer than it is. The breakfast was not free either, which would’ve been a nice thing to have thrown in along with free bottled water.

- It’s very old building, in pictures looks great, but reality is awful. No plugs, I was charging in toilet, window is inside of the building, so when I open I saw corridor, so creepy place, phone and tv doesn’t work, dusty and dirty. And price is not worth it, Much more nicer places for this money. Only people are nice and helpful. I’ve asked to change the room, they said that I need to upgrade, to upgrade to another ugly room, so i didn’t sleep at all there. If you like comfy rooms, don’t go to this place. And u can here there every single step who is waking there. So just wanna warn you guys. I don’t know why people leave here good reviews haha

- Très mauvaise isolation phonique ; nous avons dû changer de chambre pour une catégorie inférieure pour pouvoir dormir un minimum …. Et encore….

+ Great location close to all the action. I personally liked the old well kept building even though others in our group found it less appealing.

- Air conditioning was noisy, worse when turned off. Shower water pressure was poor. Charges to use sauna and steam rooms was unusual. Pool area had limited space and floor was lethally slippery. Phone in room didn’t work which was inconvenient when we found no bathroom linen was provided after showering. There seemed to be a reluctance to restock breakfast items when they ran out and what was available was not warm enough. Lobby bar was empty of stock.

- Veraltete Zimmer und Ausstattung. Z.B. Vorhang hatte einen Riss, Gardienenstangen und Lampen waren verstaubt, Staubfäden an den Ecken des Zimmers, Badezimmerfugen verschimmelt, WC Deckel locker. Zimmer nicht gedämmt, Pub Street hört man bis 3 Uhr morgens. Frühstück etwas wenig von der Menge, aber Auswahl wsr ok.

+ I loved the whole place, it was truly beautiful.

- It wasn't a very relaxing experience for me even though it has spa facilities. My friend moved his room and they put him in an internal room that had no window to the world. There was a young man sat talking on his walkie talking loud outside my room in the evenings and the wooden floors were polished outside my door at 5. 30am and all night long a pop up bar at the end of the side street played loud music cranking it up at 3am to 5am. We had booked for 2 weeks but left after one week to a much quieter little oasis away from pub street. Apart from the noise and location, its a beautiful place, if you have come to visit the bars and nightlife, and busyness then it will suit you. The decor is so gorgeous, like staying in a Temple, the staff were really lovely.

+ Es un hotel muy interesante, muy bonito, con alma, sientes que estas en camboya. No es como otros hoteles que entras y podrías estar en cualquier parte del mundo, este es muy singular. Las habitaciones son enooooooooooormes al menos la mia era gigante. El desayuno tambien muy rico. Y la atención de todo el personal fue muy buena.

+ Location excellent - very near main tourist attractions including Pub St and Night Market. The staff were extremely helpful in arranging affordable and high quality tours of the Angkor Temples, and in providing transportation to other events and the airport. Breakfasts were excellent.

+ Mitten in der City gelegen, neben Alten Markt und Night Markt, erfüllt dieses Haus einfach alles. Das Personal so zuvorkommend, freundlich und absolut auf unser Wohl bedacht, hat uns alle Wünsche erfüllt. Das Frühstücksbuffet absolut spitze. Die Zimmer gemütlich, großzügig und richtig komfortabel. Informieren Pool, Sauna und Dampfbad dabei. Unsere erste Wahl in Siem Riep
