The Frame Guesthouse

I liked the Frame Guesthouse at first, but on my last day, I found out someone stole money from my bag — even though it was in a locker the whole time. I later discovered my key could open multiple other lockers. That’s a massive security issue! Anyone could’ve accessed my stuff. I’m lucky my passport and cards are still with me. Nice hostel, but do NOT trust the lockers. Management seriously needs to fix this.

Not very social, the floors are extremely loud so if you’re on the lower floors with rooms above you can hear every single footstep of every guest. Barely slept

The place is clean and the staff friendly. The look and feel of the hotel is minimalist, which is quite nice. But there is no ventilation in the hotel. I was in the single women's dorm, with no windows, on a high bed with the air conditioning directly above my head. It smelt terribly damp and mouldy; barely 5 minutes later I had a headache. I slept in the common room on the concrete to avoid sleeping in my room (the reception was closed, no one was there to find a solution). Pricy hostel

hostel was in a good area - the only positive. We had a private room and en-suite. The bathroom was hotter than the sun and tiny. It was impossible to sit on the toilet due to how close it was to the wall and showering would soak the toilet. We checked out early because the walls are as thin as paper and I was sick of being woken up by aggressive spitting at all hours of the night. Oh and the prayer call. No atmosphere and the staff are never there, a sign is just left due to ‘short staff’.

The (private) room was nice but situated next to shared showers. Lots of noise from people, even until after Midnight. I didn't have a shower in the morning, because there was no water in the hostel (some general maintenance in the neighbourhood was going on). The staff is friendly but didn't think about a partial reimbursement (or whatsoever) as I didn't shower at all when I left, and I paid quite a high price for the room.

The Frame cancelled on me the day before I arrived, took my deposit, and has refused to return it. Horrible service all around.

If you want to sleep do not book here!!! The building is so so noisy and the floor vibrates throughout when someone walks along the corridor! When we checked into the room the sheets were clearly dirty and we had to ask staff to change them the minute we checked in. Good location close to love lane but that is the only good thing

This hostel is nicely renovated, it looks minimalist and cool whilst keeping its original charm as a framing shop. Unfortunately it lacks comfortable touches - the living spaces have hard seating that doesn’t make people want to linger so no atmosphere. The bed wasn’t very comfy and we slept poorly due to loud floorboards and stairs, room shook as people went upstairs late at night. We were woken at 5am each morning due to the mosque opposite. good and clean. but common sitting area would be more comfortable. and in the shower would be place far away the water for putting the phone,key etc.

cuando hibamos a dormir nos fijamos que habia CHINCHES. nos encontramos unas 10 entre las dos camas, y eso sin buscar ya que estaban a simple vista. estavan vivas y coleantes. la parte buena? EL STAFF. personal muy amable que nos resolvio el problema y nos cambiaron de habitacion en unas capsulas mucho mas limpias. era como un papel estilo habitacion compartida. ademas, nos devolvieron el dinero sin problema de las noches no disfrutadas. en resumen, chinches pero buen personal resolutivo.

It was always clean and the people were friendly. The location was perfect and I can only recommend.

Central location. Basic kitchen facilities but fine for what I was after.

beautiful hostel in such a fantastic location. security when checked in was fab, luggage storage on day of checkout wasn't fantastic but honestly, for the price and where you were it was amazing. such a beautiful building as well

Auberge sympatique. Chambre sans fenêtre avec air climatisé et petites fenêtres qui laissaient passer la lumière toute la nuit... Espaces communs sympathiques mais les sièges ne sont pas confortables pour rester assis longtemps.

Der Aufenthalt hat uns sehr gefallen. Man hat sehr große Räume und es ist sauber. Die Lage könnte sich nicht besser sein. Also sehr empfehlenswert!

Very strategic location. Rooms were clean and the bathrooms had regular cleaning. Many shops, attractions and stores well within walking distance. WiFi was a bit faulty but nothing major

Nice stay, good location

great location - close to love street, armenian street, some of the mansions and a lot of great cafes. however our room had a window that opened into the common area and was basically impossible to securely close, people could literally just open it at any point. our room also smelt so bad it was nauseating. great location but I’m glad we were only here one night.

Comfy beds, spacious and clean room, nice showers. Fridge to store your food in & nice social spaces. Not the most social. You do get woken up every single morning at 5am when they do the call to prayer because it’s right opposite the mosque which is not fun

Overall a just fine hostel. As other reviews have mentioned, the walls are SOOO thin. Like I could literally hear a pin drop on the floor above. Cleanliness could be a lot better. Mosquitos are a massive problem also. I packed my bags outside my room (still INSIDE) for maybe 10 minutes and had 20 bites. I don’t think I’d stay here again

Nous avions une chambre et la serrure n’était pas très solide. Il fallait juste un peu de force pour la briser. Soyez prêts à écouté les 5 cérémonies de prière dès 5h le matin jusqu’à 22h du soir. Pour un très court séjour c’est correct mais pas plus longtemps!

We absolutely loved our stay here! The place has such a nice vibe and is decorated so well! The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and spacious and the bathrooms are also super clean. Hot showers and towels were a great positive! Would recommend!

Super lovely staff, clean and well equipped hostel. Had some rly yummy local snacks that were free to take. Hostel is not very social at all, but great location in Penang.

Lovely hostel in a really good location. Private room was great and the shared bathrooms were nice and always clean. Only bad thing was how much you could hear people walking around because of no insulation but ear plugs were provided.

The hostel is great! Be aware that it is close to a mosque that tends to pray during the night and early morning.

Grundsätzlich schöne unterkunft, sehr sauber und sehr nettes Personal, Gemeinschaftstoiletten sind aber sehr weit weg, und wenn man ein zimmer richtung strasse hat ist es sehr laut
