HI De Draecke Gent

The staff were rude. I was put in the wrong dorm, was moved and was still in the wrong dorm. Never any apologies. I just had to put up with it. The facilities were fine, clean and comfortable and the location was good too. However there was no atmosphere or social scene, apart from the 100 10 year olds on school camp. Wouldn’t stay here again, nor recommend. Extremely disappointed.

Posizione in centro, molto comoda. Staff molto gentile. Letti e coperte sporche. Troppa confusione durante la notte : i vicini della camerata di fianco hanno disturbato urlando e correndo per il corridoio fino alle 2:30 di notte. Colazione povera, con poche opzioni. Nel complesso aver pagato 35€ per una notte quasi in bianco mi è sembrato eccessivo.

The hostel was on a nice location close to the centre. We expected it to be a youthhostel, as told. But when we came in theire where a lot of ealderly and families. Besides that it was realy warm outside and our airconditioning was not working. So at night it was really warm in our room with 6 people.

Good location, otherwise rather unmotivated staff, not much updates on the thing to do and no kitchen to cook in.

Perfect location, welcoming staff, and great breakfast included. Rooms and bathrooms were clean, but the floor was definitely dark / black where people don’t often walk … Curtains on the beds and more hangers / racks in the rooms would be appreciated. If you are a solo traveler, maybe consider another hostel to meet people. But it seems to be the perfect hostel when you are coming with other people !

Clean hostel. No AC. Lockers are good. Location is good. Shower gel needed filling up. Breakfast very mediocre but does the job. No common area other than reception. Plug and lamp for each person. Toilet and shower/sink split up so if someone uses the toilet they can’t wash their hands if someone’s in the shower. Bunk beds very close to each other. Pillows/mattress not really comfortable. No social aspect to the hostel just school kids and older families and people who live there.

Perfect location but otherwise a very basic hostel. The beds are okay but there are no privacy curtains, so it can be difficult to get a good night’s sleep. The rooms are not well-ventilated and there is no air con - so it can get stuffy in the rooms.

This hostel was okay for a night or two but if you’re looking for somewhere for a longer stay and somewhere social there are better options. I was in a 4 person room and the room was SO small. My bunk bed was right up against the other with no curtains or anything to provide privacy or separation, which is quite uncomfortable when sharing a room with strangers. It is safe and clean though but I would probably not stay here again if I could help it.

I liked that breakfast was included. The breakfast was nice and included cold and hot drinks, bread and spreads, yoghurt and cereal, and some cheese/meat. However, I booked without realising there is no kitchen or even a kettle! (There is a fridge, but you can’t cook, only ask them to heat up your food). The dining room was huge but after breakfast, they packed up all the chairs so it was not a cosy atmosphere. However, the location is good! Be aware that it doesn’t lie on a main street, so ...

Location was amazing, close to everything you need. Reception staff were super helpful and willing to give local advice. We had lots of mosquitos in the room and were bitten a lot. The room didn’t seem to be cleaned regularly. The bathroom smelt badly of mold.

Very Happy with our 2 night stay in 2 bed room. Staff were incredibly friendly and the hostel just suited us and worked really well. Breakfast was a bit of fun with all the young children, very nice to see the place busy. Would definitely come again and love the hostels.

The hostel is very well located, the rooms are nice and bright. The staff is really friendly and helpful, I had an issue on my third night with a very loud snorer in the dorm and when I asked if I could be moved the girl in reception (Lin) showed a lot of empathy and moved me straight away.

super friendly and helpful staff, great location and very clean! the commons area is amazing and the breakfast buffet is very varied, even offering gluten free options! A very quiet area of gent but still right by the city center! loved it.

Het was een mooie ervaring deze 2 dagen. Eenvoudig maar lekker ontbijt. Goede bedden(stapelbedden). Nette kamer. Schone badkamer met prima douche.

Super fijn en netjes hostel, centraal gelegen in het centrum van Gent. Het personeel was ook zo vriendelijk om wat spullen naar me op te sturen die ik had laten liggen. Thanks Jelle!

Das Frühstück war okay, aber eher schlicht gehalten. Dadurch, dass man das Fenster nur ca. 5 cm öffnen kann, könnte es nach heißen Temperaturen unter Tags in der Nacht etwas schwierig werden das Zimmer abzukühlen. Es war top, dass die Dusche/Waschbecken und WC voneinander getrennt waren. Wirklich netter und praktischer Gemeinschaftsbereich im Erdgeschoss.

Beds are a bit uncomfortable, specially pillows . AC in dorms requiere one person to leave it's card on the door otherwise you don't have electricity. A bit expensive for the quality of the dorms .
