Another World Hostel

Das Deluxe Doppelzimmer war für diese Leistung viel zu teuer. Die Bettwäsche war fleckig/dreckig, das Bad verschimmelt und die Toilette undicht, sodass Abwasser ins Badezimmer lief. Dafür war das Zimmer vom Preis-Leistungsverhältnis viel zu teuer (auch das dazu gebuchte Frühstück). Das Doppelzimmer würden wir nicht empfehlen…

Zeer overpriced (40€ per nacht). Ten eerste was de kamer viezig, overal stof, mieren; gewoon niet goed schoon. Vlekjes op de handdoeken, wc spoelde niet goed door. Iemand heeft geprobeerd dit op te lossen, maar nog steeds werkte het niet goed. De douchekop is lam, dus als je de douche aanzet moet deze helemaal rechtop waardoor de hele badkamer nat wordt. Wij hadden ons aangemeld voor de sunrisehike welke om 4.45 zou starten, maar om 5.05 nog niemand. Uiteindelijk gebeld maar sunrise gemist.

We were not happy with our stay for the price. The hostel is almost double the price compared to other places in the region so we expected more of it. But dirty showers and toilets (and of each only 2 for many people) was not what we expected. Also the keys of the lockers in our room did not work.

This hostel is extremely overpriced. There is no information when you arrive as to what to do in the local area. The bathrooms aren’t good enough, with only 2 toilets and 2 showers for over 50 people. The breakfast is good and generous!

Nice beds, social hostel. The low review is due to the behavior of some of the staff, making us feel unwelcome. Especially after we were left behind by "sampa" during the sunset tour. The tour was supposed to be free, except for the transportation. So we discussed we would drive behind them, but he did everything in his power to leave us behind. The following days became really awkward because of the looks they gave us and some small petty behavior.

If you are a female traveller I do not recommend staying here. The staff make you feel very uncomfortable with staring, being very pushy and coming into the room at random times. Although they have a great day trips and a beautiful hostel I really do not recommend. Our beds were constantly covered with ants - when we told the staff they would all come in together and brush the beds off with a towel. Their lockers do not work and I have heard from locals that they have had issues with stealing.

Just looking out for the gals - beware solo female travellers. This hostel is pretty nice, location great with a social atmosphere and a lot of activities. Unfortunately, a handful of the male staff made myself and a number of other woman uncomfortable during our stay. This included A LOT of staring, spending time in the dorms just to chat and extremely insistently attempting to take female guests out one on one, despite clearly saying not interested and expressing discomfort.

This hostel is not safe. There are no lockers and the doors are completely open. I had money stolen from my bag and so did another guest. There was no social atmosphere and it is far away from the city. There also was a small as it is near the rubbish disposal centre.

Very damp and mouldy. A huge cockroach in our dorm, disgusting. Only 2 staff that speak English. Airport pickup didn't show up at the airport for the time ordered and I waited an hour for the driver, and I had to call 3 times and message 4 times before getting a reply through a message. Activities were planned but last minute and it was difficult to plan ahead incase there were other activities you want to fit in. Lack of plug sockets and reading lights by beds. Towels damp and smelt bad.

The rooms are fine and the facilities. What I had a problem with was that they are very sneaky with money. Saying one price and the next minute it’s a different price. Both me and friends experienced this kind of behavior. It’s hard when the only person that can do anything is the manager and he is not there often. I can’t say there is many better alternatives in Sigiriya tho

Amazing hostel. Staff so friendly really feels like family and look after you so well. Elephant safari was amazing and so well run and a great price. Its a great location and family feel. Also great social area. Really is an amazing place to stay and would come back. We had a small leak and they fixed it straight away and were great.

I had an incredible time at this hostel! The atmosphere is so chill and welcoming, making it the perfect place to relax. The staff were absolutely amazing always helpful and friendly. Friendly crew, even took us to Dambulla free of charge because they were going anyway. Great location, close to some nice restaurants, and their own family dinners are nice to join as well. And really nice that they organise trips, so no need to get your own guides. The included breakfast we added to the booking was tasty but a bit too much food and slightly expensive; it's better to buy what you want from the menu every morning.

We really enjoyed our stay with Another World Hostel! We were a group of 5 and stayed in the 6-bed mixed dorm. Room and bathrooms were clean with AC and small lockable lockers to keep belongings. Location was excellent, very close to a large choice of restaurants and cafes and all the sights. Would thoroughly recommend the day trips offered by the hostel - they were all fantastic and reasonably priced.

Loved my incredible stay at Another World Hostel. From the smooth check in experience to the lovely people managing the property to the family dinners, karaoke and the secret sunset spots, everything was perfect. Made numerous core memories and had wonderful conversations! Top notch!

such a great hostel, the workers are so welcoming, helpful and funny. spacious room, comfy bed, great social areas. so many activities organised for you to sign up for at good prices.

Overall staff were friendly and wanted to help but the lack of communication made arrangements or plans confusing/ disappointing sometimes. The manager Malit was super helpful and communicated well though which made up for it. The dorm bathroom had leeches coming out of toilet which the staff couldn’t get rid of even when they cleaned.

Amazing place, had so much fun! The hostel team puts in so much effort to make sure everyone has a great time. The activities are so fun and easy to organise , and the whole place has such a welcoming family vibe. Malith always brings great energy and good fun vibes 🤙🏼🤙🏼

The hostel has such a warm and social atmosphere and it really feels like a little family. The staff, especially Maliyah, go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome, and the activities make it easy to connect with others. They genuinely care about everyone’s experience. I’d definitely come back again.

Best hostel I’ve stayed at in two months - th family running it are amazing really made the experience. They do sunrise and sunset tours for super cheap and lake tours , elephant safari as well as cooking classes and cricket. Constantly sweeping and making sure everything is clean and they really wanted everyone to have an amazing. I can’t wait to go back.

Such a nice hostel in Sigiriya, prefect to meet people. It’s has such a beautiful charm, you can see the care and love they put into the place. It has a nice atmosphere, very welcoming and supportive.

Ich habe den Aufenthalt dort sehr genossen. Das Personal war sehr zuvorkommend und super hilfsbereit!! Es gibt eine Filteranlage, sodass man sein Wasser zum trinken kostenlos auffüllen kann. Die Aktivitäten vom Hostel aus sind sehr zu empfehlen! Ich kann’s mit ruhigem Gewissen weiterempfehlen!

I’ve never understood when people describe finding family at a hostel until now. The staff go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome and to make sure they have the best trip possible. The organised and unorganised trips to lakes, sunset/sunrise hikes and cooking classes were certainly memorable. I, like many other people extended my stay last minute to spend a little bit longer at this hostel. Thank you again to the staff, hopefully be back one day :)

The hostel has a social vibe and the staff are lovely. They throw events and tours all day so it’s super easy to meet people. The also have the cutest hostel pups. Thanks Spoon and Rash for the amazing hospitality!

I came here as a stranger and when I left I felt like I belong to the family. Maliya and his Crew are amazing. Everyone of them is kind, respectful and heartwarming. I saw many special places and the nature in Sigiriya is stunning. A big thank to Raschmi and Maliyah for making my stay so unforgettable.
