READ BEFORE BOOKING!! WARNING!! I only gave one star because hostelworld will not let you leave a review with 0 stars, but this was a 0 star experience. There is no one at the reception for check in or check out at any time during our stay. No one assisted us during our stay for any activities eventhough we had 7 people that were interested while the manager and staff were busy partying or sleeping till 3 or 4 pm. They had a BBQ and left their mess until late next day, same in the kitchen areas. We couldn't use the main kitchen because the staffs were using it. Also they kept insisting we pay cash cause the machine is "broken". Please avoid.
None of the advertised facilities or amenities were present. There is no bar, no van, and we were charged $7 for a plastic cup of juice. THE STAFF ARE VOLUNTEERS WHO DO NOT CARE!! All your money is going straight to the manager.
“Staff” (who are really just volunteers for free accomodation) were super disorganised. No one was ever at reception even during the allocated hours, so I never even officially checked in. The security is a concern, all of the doors to the buildings and rooms are wide open and unlocked 24/7, anyone could enter the building.. This hostel is very dirty. The staff do not welcome you. L’Auberge est très sale, aussi bien les chambres que les parties communes. L’acceuil est presque inexistant.
Hosts and volunteers were wonderful people, I apologise in advance for this review. Bassetto is not promoted as a party hostel,yet,there were 3 private parties on(not for guests)and this was not communicated to me at all. Very much ruined the vibe of my stay and my sleep!I paid €15 for dinner at 8pm, but they were still cooking and got it served by after 10pm!Hostel is also so far away, and dont promote shuttles or bikes to make the walk to station quicker (you had to pre book).Bad communicati...
When I arrived they asked for 45 minutes to poorly clean my room. They even reentered it after entering.As for the check in I was told to do it the next day. In the morning there wasn't a person around to do the late check in and I was forced to leave my room open without a key to lock it and also had to return early in order to check in. I met the owner that day, who had just arrived with his friends and rushed us out of the still unclean dinner table to make room for his party. Also too costly
Wir waren ziemlich enttäuscht von der Unterkunft. Die Unterkunft ist definitiv zu teuer für die Bedigungen vor Ort. Nach dem Angestellten muss man suchen, er ist oft nicht vor Ort. Es gibt extrem viele Mücken in dem Haus, da wäre es schön wenn wenigstens die Fliegengitter intakt wären. Unseres war allerdings halb abgerissen. Ich könnte die Liste noch weiter führen, allerdings fehlt dazu der Platz hier. Ich empfehle eine andere Unterkunft zu buchen.
We were quite disappointed with the accommodation. The accommodation is definitely too expensive for the operations on site. You have to look for the employee, he is often not on site. There are extremely many mosquitoes in the house, it would be nice if at least the Flight Grid were intact. Ours was however half demolished. I could extend the list further, but there is no space here. I recommend booking another accommodation.
La propriété est charmante, en revanche il faut s'attendre au service minimum à tous les niveaux, ce qui donne un mauvais rapport qualité/prix vu l'emplacement. D'ailleurs on oublie la campagne : zone semi-industrielle derrière et bruit de la nationale en continu. Pas de poivre, d'huile d'olive ou de vinaigre en cuisine. Je déconseille l'étable. The property is charming, however you have to expect minimum service at all levels, which gives a poor value for money given the location. Besides, you forget the countryside : semi-industrial zone behind and noise of the national road continuously. No pepper, olive oil or vinegar in the kitchen. I do not recommend the stable. The walls do not rise to the ceiling or between the rooms, nor towards the corridors. I slept much less well than in dormitories. Friendly staff
Je vais lister ici les point à améliorer: La propreté étais affreuse, la douche dans un état très moyen, la poussière nous parlais!!! Lors de notre première journée, nous avons eu a faire a un lavabos des plus répugnant laissé par un utilisateur des emplacement. I'll list here the points to improve: The cleanliness was awful, the shower in a very mediocre condition, the dust was talking to us!!! on our first day, we had to deal with a most disgusting toilet left by a user of the location. despite all this, the people of the staff are friendly and make a huge effort to understand us. the corner is quiet except for the users who are heated after the allowed hours. i will probably not return.

Me and my partner booked for 3 nights and ended up extending our stay, the location is incredible and the building we stayed in was beautiful. Stand out features were the pool which was crystal clear and my personal favourite as someone who enjoys cooking was the kitchen which was very well equipped and with a view of the garden. We would definitely stay here again P.s give Luca and Angelica a pat from us

Bassetto has one of the most lovely vibes I ever experienced before, I met wonderful people there & made unforgettable memories. Love the pool, the events they constantly host & the country Tuscany side. Staff were super friendly & helpful, the train station is just like 25 minutes by walking where you can go to visit Florence 50 minutes away, Pisa, Siena & San Gimignano. Will definitely come back, Grazie Mille Bassetto!
The photos don't even do this place justice, it is 100% the most beautiful hostel I have ever been to. Theres this amazing award winning bar less than a minute away with the best Aperol I've ever had! The kitchens are beautiful and the surrounding area is a perfect taste of Tuscany. The staff were amazing, taking us to beer festivals, beautiful waterfalls and making us pasta at 3am! If you can, you should defiantly stay here!!
Ok I have a lot to say. I loved the culture of Bassetto. If you're tired of the city and want a getaway in Tuscany this is the place. It's small and intimate and the volunteers are AWESOME. The pool is great and walking around the vineyard area is lovely. Also the bar next door is PHENOMENAL. HOWEVER. There are lots of mosquitoes so bring bug spray. I had the best time at Bassetto!!! The staf and manager was nice and helpful if you need anything. The hostel itself is beautiful unique and so are the surroundings! Nice pool, vibes and people! Would definitely recommend.
Can’t reccomend you staying here enough! It is the perfect break from busy cities, the surroundings are like a tuscan dream, this hostel attracts so many beautiful and open minded people and I definitely reccomend signing up for the activities- some of my best memories! and only a train ride away from florence ⭐️
Bassetto was the perfect place to be on my trip! It's à lovely place where you can find peace and tranquility. A big thanks to the volunteers and the manager Nico for having made my trip become unforgettable ! Everything was well organised and the rooms were perfectly managed. I'll definitely recommend this place to everyone !
Sehr authentische Unterkunft, definitiv das spannendste Hostel, das ich entdecken durfte, ganz besonderer Flair, gute Gewürzausstattung in der Küche, sehr schöne Küchen generell, Vögel fliegen durchs Haus, deshalb Hygiene etwas fragwürdig, aber mich hat es nicht gestört, denn in den Zimmern und der Küche sind keine Nester
Very authentic accommodation, definitely the most exciting hostel I could discover, very special flair, good decor in the kitchen, very nice kitchens in general, birds fly through the house, therefore hygiene a bit questionable, but it did not bother me, because in the rooms and the kitchen are no nests

I absolutely loved my stay here. I was here for 10 nights which went by so quickly as i enjoyed it so much! The volunteers were super friendly and inviting and always there when we needed them. I highly recommend signing up for the activities/trips the staff plan. They were always worth it and a great way to meet the other guests. The house and property was gorgeous. I loved spending hot days at the pool and exploring the nearby properties. I miss it and I will be back!
This is a really lovely and unique hostel, and I can imagine how fun the vibe is when there are more people staying here in peak season. It’s super homey and I would definitely recommend. The only issue that we had was the external events that took place in the main building, which were basically like a club night and it was noisy until past 1am. I think this is the first time they have had external bookings and I hope they will be more respectful of the paying guests in the future.

I have had my best days there. An amazing place to spend outside the city life. The volunteers were amazing too. For sure, I am going visit again. ❤️
I was looking for exactly that kind of guesthouse - in the greens, far from big cities and places, with nice people ready to help and very particular atmosphere - ancient but modern, easy but with experience.. it’s a place where you want to come back becouse it’s special and unique, different from others.

If you’re traveling in the area, don’t miss out on this place!! It had been years since I stayed at a hostel, and clearly they have moved way up in the world since my time. I recently had the pleasure of staying at the enchanting Fattoria Bassetto, & I can't recommend it highly enough! Nestled in the rolling hills of Tuscany, this villa offers the perfect blend of rustic charm & modern comfort. Our room was spacious & elegantly decorated. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring restful nights after a day of exploring. The ensuite bathroom was modern & our room had its on fridge. Certaldo Alto is worth a visit. BYO mozzie spray!
