Big Fish Budapest Hostel

Would not recommend this hostel. Majority of staff were incredibly unwelcoming, made us feel like an inconvenience in the shared spaces. No air-conditioning (Understandable that this is common due to EU environmental regulations) but the compensation was one tiny fan for the room. Also we had to have the windows open to try cool down, but that meant very little sleep as the hostel is located on a main road. Finally the description says that the hostel runs some social events, they do not.

I couldn’t find the hostel because they don’t have any signs or indications and inside the building also they don’t have any indications about where exactly is the hostel located. It took me 20 mins to figure out which building it is and when I provided a feedback, the owner clearly wasn’t interested in taking any feedback and I went when there was a heat wave outside and no fans were arranged properly. My fan made so much noise that I couldn’t sleep. Would not recommend this hostel at...

The place is super old place, looks so dirty, the owner is the alll day without t-shirt everywhere, they don’t even have lockers, beds are not confortable. I don’t know how they got that score.

Decent Hostel. No chat groups or organized events which was a disappointment. The bunk beds were very very noisy if you moved or climbed on the latter. Overall ok because it was clean and good location.

The staff here are very nice and accommodating but the hostel is pretty run down and dirty. The bathrooms arnt very nice, the kitchen area is small and doubles as the common area where people hang out. There was no trash bin in the room and so trash was just collecting on the table in there for the duration of my stay. Overall, its a good spot if you just need a cheap bed and a good location, but if you want a relaxing stay this is not the one for you.

No AC, staff was okay, and 2/4 showers broken

good location, good idea, but everything is in need of attention, the showers are clogged, and there aren't enough for the number of beds. the kitchen is small and the only common area, so it's always very full, you're supposed to label your foods but there are no labels and no pens, you need to codes to get into the hostel and we had to wait 20 min to be let in by another guest because the volunteers apparently didn't hear the bell

A small hostel with a very homely and cozy feel. The facilities were very clean and in order. Also felt very safe with a nice location well above a busy street. However the floor and beds creaked sooo bad, which was quite the nuisance. Unfortunately in my dorm there was a guy with the loudest and most aggressive snore I have ever heard in my life.

Overall clean place and nice stuff. they have some problem with the dryer and didn't dry my clothes and cause it to smell in my luggage though.

Good all round hostel in a good area, nice clean facilities and a good kitchen (can cook whatever meals you want here). Only problem with this hostel is it's right on the main road which is fine when the windows are closed however through summer when it's hot the windows stay open and it's extremly loud! this only applies to the 8 bed dorms though i think.

J'ai passé une nuit dans cette auberge et j'ai été très contente de mon séjour. Le personnel est très à l'écoute. J'ai eu un problème, et Viktoria a prit le temps avec moi pour trouver une solution. Je la remercie.

loved my stay here! super funky, homely rooms + kitchen. feels like i’m at my cousin’s house for a family reunion. loved the no shoes concept! no complaints, staff was super nice, floors + beds were creaky but it never bothered me. great location (near the ruin bars) and tram stop close by. knives in the kitchen need sharpening hahah they’re pretty dull, but that’s the only thing i can complain about! maybe the rooms get a little warm and the street is quite loud, but eh you can sleep th...

Lovley hostel!!

Super chill spot, very friendly and close to bars and attractions.

Comfortable and laidback hostel (30 beds max). Friendly staff. Laundry can be done at hostel. Only downside is due to being positioned next to the main street, emergency vehicles sirens tended to drive by quite frequently & loudly at night.

This was a good stay! Corine was very nice and professional. She was really working hard to keep the place clean for everyone.

Big thanks for this really pleasant stay in the timeless and wonderful Big Fish Hostel in Budapest, full of wonderful meetings and intense emotions, a pleasure to meet and exchange with the incredibly warmful, caring and sweet staff of the hostel... carino, molto familiare. ha la cucina e la struttura viene pulita giornalmente. unica cosa è che la stanza non ha armadietti che possono essere chiusi a chiave

Great hostel with friendly staff, gets pretty noisy at night since the rooms are next to the common areas and it was also super hot in the room (no AC or even fans) but overall it was a nice place to stay

Genuinely a 10/10 experience. I have zero complaints. Clean bathrooms, nice free-to-use kitchen, phenomenal atmosphere (social, but more intimate and less party-style), great staff and volunteers, and it’s in a great location. If you’re going to Budapest, I recommend staying at big fish

Muy buen lugar, super bien situado. El personal del hostal muy amigable, gente joven que me hizo sentir muy bienvenido. El ambiente es acogedor, cada uno va a lo suyo, yo estuve muy cómodo. Hay cocina común que tiene de todo, cuatro baños, todo super limpio (los baños se limpian cada mañana). La cama ha sido cómoda. Hay buena seguridad, hay taquillas en las habitaciones (necesitas llevar candado) y una mesilla pequeña en cada cama. Me guardo el sitio porque me gustaría volver si lo neces...
